During a foundation wall bracing job, the basement contractor accidentally jack hammered the underground oil line and severed it. We got the call to repair it, but it wasn’t feasible to do so, so we decided it best to run a new line on the basement floor.

Nice work! In NH it’s against code to have the line uncoated. Every one I go to is turned green and practically leaking from reacting with the concrete.

Look's clean , why not coated copper?

Not required here, unless the lines go in or through the concrete, or under the ground.

Heating professional here-In my state all the lines are coated and underground lines are prohibited unless they are in a sleeve that terminates above the slab on both ends.

I get it. We have uncoated/buried oil lines that have been in service for 80+ years and will probably be leak free for another 80.

@@valenzaplumbing What has changed is the makeup of the fuel. It now is quite aggressive and the oil lines that were installed in the 50’s through the 70’s all started to fail-- think 275 gallons into the ground under the house. So if you do any work in the Northeast part of the country, please check your state code.

@@JTTTTx I would never bury any new oil line. Merely stating that the ones that are currently underground are still going strong, with no coating. We don’t have to use coated lines unless it goes through the concrete wall etc.

in germany we use almost only compression fittings for oil lines. there are propress fittings for oil but they start at 12mm. the most oil lines we have in residential buildings are 8-10mm so we go with the compressions

They make some thick rubber trim that you can run wire in that goes on concrete that’s tapered on both sides that you can run a small copper line through that’s nice its got a lower profile than pvc but the job looks nice anyway thanks for the videos you are putting out.
