Apprentice Academy: admissions@apprenticeacademy.net www.apprenticeacademy.net This beautiful 50's RCA Ribbon mic was at the bottom of a box of old TV broadcast equipment that my uncle gave me. This is the story of its return to glory!
I have a bk 5b given to me by my uncle..I'm running it through a shure M67 then into my computer..the sound is faint and muffled..do I need a different pre amp with more volts or ohms?
I just looked at their website with the enthusiastic idea of sending them my RCA for resto. Their prices are an initial $65 just to put it on the bench, and $180 to re-ribbon. So there goes that idea. I'm in Australia too, with an exchange rate of AU$0.67, ouch. I'd hate to think what you'd have to pay now for paint and spare parts. You did extremely well, which is annoying.
