Yeah, I’m not tipping counter service. That’s ridiculous. And I’m not tipping for bad service. I was a server long enough to know not everyone deserves a tip. However, I will tip for amazing service. A good server is incredibly under appreciated, and they should be tipped well. Very cool video

I think you guys got played on a few of these. No cashier at a fast food joint realistically thinks they are going to get a 20% tip. Same with the dealers, if you win $100, you aren't throwing the blackjack dealer $20.
@TheMidlifeRide
@TheMidlifeRide 3 года назад
We agree those answers don’t seem right, but we’re just reporting what they said. It seems the opinions get a little out of whack in places you’d expect a lower percentage of actual tippers. If everyone tipped, or even most people, the workers wouldn’t need to rely so heavily on the few that actual do tip. But, yeah, we can’t be expected to tip extra to make up for the people who don’t tip at all. Oh, and as for that cashier and her co-worker - they were an interesting pair. She barely spoke English and he had a whole argument about why they deserve as much as waiters. He was very passionate about it and absolutely determined to convince us.

I would say a good way to calculate a tip for table games dealers, is to divide a decent hourly wage($20-$30) by how many seats, divided by length of stay per hour. Say if you're at a black jack or roulette table for 45 minutes and there's six players; $3-$5 would be an acceptable tip from someone who lost money. If you lose money gambling and don't tip even a little bit for the dealer's time, that would be the equivalent to not tipping a server because the chairs are uncomfortable.

I would say for dealers tip the same amount, like $5-20 depending on the dealer, no matter what your win size is. If you do it percentage base, it will lower your chances of walking out positive over the long run if every time you win you are giving up 20%. Poker is a bit different where the norm is tipping a dollar when a pot is pushed your way.

Tipping culture in the US is getting to be excessive. I save ALOT of money by not tipping in Vegas. One should not have to tip simply for someone doing their job. That creates an entitlement mentality and you get a pay check for doing your job. When I pay for a hotel room, it comes with a service. Why should I pay extra for something I already paid for? That’s foolish. No, consider a tip for when service is above and beyond what you paid for.

I dont believe in percentage tips. Its either $2 just to be nice or , $5 or $10 depending on service.

A set price, as you’ve noted, makes sense to me. Why should tips be based on the cost of the food, rather than on the actual service received?
@subiyota

@@TheMidlifeRide yes! Im tipping based on the service,not my food or the bill to be exact. And the counter tipping to just take a order does not make sense to me.

🤣 don’t get me wrong I tip people 20% regardless but counter cashiers Are expecting 20% tip for what ringing up my total than poor guy in the kitchen gets nothing 👍🏻 no way I like tipping kitchen workers before I tip register 👍🏻 If show girls ask you for $20 for taking picture walk away. Don’t give them what they ask They work for tips you decide how much you can give. But if you can give $100 please do But do not fall for their scam

We think that counter person was in the minority. Don’t think most of them expect tips. We have no problem tipping if they’re super friendly and/or go above and beyond. This one wasn’t and didn’t!

2:12 that's why I carry my own bags and park myself. I only tip housekeeping when I check out. No cleaning needed till then since I'm only there for 3 days. 3:04 hate uber riders who don't tip. Drivers should always give them 1 star ratings. Question: what's up with the skyrim hat? 😆
@TheMidlifeRide

Yes, we try not to use extra services unless they are really necessary. We also do not use housekeeping during our stays. The Do Not Disturb is always on. We were really surprised at the amount of riders that don't tip. We spoke to so many Lyft riders, and actually, many of them said they had better tips with Uber.

Gonna have to disagree with you on the drink tips. $1 for a drink is not enough. I feel that $2-$3 per free drink is more reasonable, especially if they are also making the drinks. Thank you love the vlog!

Yes - no less than $1 per drink was what the servers told us. Hopefully, if you are getting good service, you would tip more. Especially if the drinks are made well and of decent strength. Unfortunately, most aren't, so you can easily order 10-20 drinks without ever getting buzzed - just packing those calories! Thanks for watching and for the comment :)

@@TheMidlifeRide Totally agree, those drinks are basically all mixer for me to pour my alcohol into that i carry in my Vegas flask, so $1 is plenty😆😆.

I always over tip in Las Vegas... otherwise it just will end up in a slot machine...
@TheMidlifeRide
@TheMidlifeRide 3 года назад
The slot machines get a lot of tips from us. They let us play a few minutes, we give them money. A few minutes more, we give them more money! Actually, we bring separate money just for tips so we don't have to dig into our play money for that.

I’m sorry but I’m not tipping everyone. Americans come to Bermuda and act like they don’t what a tip is.

We understand completely. The tipping culture in Vegas is a bit unique. Thanks for watching and commenting:)

Why can’t Americans just pay better wages! Nowhere else are you expected to tip all the time.

I’m not sure that would change the tipping culture here.

It's a good thing I never tip, so I don't have to worry about adjusting my budget.
