Here I finish the second part of my earlier video on basic motorcycle maintenance on the BikeReview.com.au Project Ninja 400 - in cleaning and lubing the chain. I've had a request for a video on detailing a bike (washing it), and any other requests or suggestions are welcome!
It's a quick and easy job with the right tools, especially a rear stand, if you're not lucky enough to have a bike with a centre-stand, and is an integral frequent piece of maintenance to maximise chain and sprocket life, as well as helping keep an eye on the chain slack.
I use a Silkolene Pro Chain lube and kerosene as a cleaner, along with a rag, and a simple piece of cardboard to stop overspray. For a really dirty chain you'll need a brush, ideally one designed for the job, with bristles that won't damage the chain or seals, and can be quite a bit messier.
