Hi Kenn! Have you done any long trip on the MS4R? Is it comfortable for the passenger?

I have a 2007 s2r1000 which is basically the air cooled version of this bike. It's not the most comfortable for the passenger but my wife and I have done 3 hours straight and she doesn't complain much about it. However if your wife is tall like 5'7 or more she won't enjoy the riding position. Monsters are relatively "small" bikes

this bike is simply AWESOME! love that Ohlins on the black colour scheme... I'm so curious to know how it feels to ride a bike like that; i imagine engine is a littel bumpy at low/midrange? (i am used to a boxer so rollons from 1000 rpm in high gears are eletric for my bike) how does it feel the the riding position compared to "modern" maxinakeds (SDR, Tuono, new Monster)? cheers from Italy Loris

yes it's very choppy at low revs. but it's a very comfortable bike actually. basic riding position.

The point of prefilling the oil filter it so it doesn't run dry very long with a dry filter it takes even longer to pump the oil up to where it needs to be

Blake Graham that's actually a myth. and provides no real benefit. research it.

Blake Graham also what you said does not even make sense. how will a prefilled oil filter pump oil to where it needs to go? it has no mechanism to do that. its job is to catch flowing oil from the sump and filter it. the prefilling logic essentially is to put oil in it before the surge of new oil comes...it didn't make a difference at pre lubricating the engine if thats what youre trying to accomplish. luckily for most people an oil change means the motor is not completely dry which is why the prefilling doesnt add any benefit just OCD points.

Because the filter is before the bearings. The oil is sucked from the sump to pump and then goes to filter and goes to the bearings. If the filter is empty, it takes a moment to fill it before the oil gets to the bearings. :)

You don't fully drain the engine of oil during a simple oil change. there's still oil in there. I've rebuilt motorcycle engines and I don't pre-fill oil filters, some oil filters cannot be pre-filled because they are only a filter element not a traditional canister like this one so how does this logic apply to that? The practice is a myth but if it helps you mind at ease then go for it.

walk me through prefilling the oil filter element for a ducati panigale. its not a canister...so should i dip the filter element in oil? this myth is silly.

Did you have to remove the square piece next to the drain plug?
