THE MAN, got a haircut! lol nice I can see you being an instructor at a community college, just enjoying the time and being content helping those trying to make something of their creative minds ;)
Greets from Sweden. Great video dragged down by the super-strong music. You also have a great charisma and laid back style that makes it a joy to watch your stuff.
@@DaveConrey I think it's always been there to be honest. I use it all the time not surprisingly. You have to actually select the text (which is a simple double-click on filler-text), but yeah-right-click and it's the top option. Boom. You're welcome.
Finally a video that helped me begin to get to grips with text styles - thanks Dave.. I even managed to text wrap a shaped photograph within my base text but cannot manage to insert a caption underneath it. Can you help. Also agree- you don't need the music. John Sinclair
you can just right click on the text and select "expand field". That way it transforms the text into actual text that you can edit and delete just a part of. Otherwise great video! thx
One thing I want to do is to be able to save sets of styles and import the appropriate set for the document. I edit a magazine with a specific set of styles and technical papers with very different styles.
You can do a sort of hierarchy by setting up a group style then adding your styles to that group by clicking the group name in the based on drop down menu. Make sure show hierarchical is ticked in the text style options menu.
I'm not sure if this the best place to ask, but in Affinity Publisher, how do I convert a font to paths or lines, so I can manipulate/re-design a letter(s)? I've been looking online for a tutorial, and haven't any luck. PLEASE help, if you can.
Open the app without a document, open the character palette, pick your fonts and sizes. Then go to the File menu and choose to set defaults (could be labeled different-don’t have my computer handy).
I'm having a problem: sometimes when I apply a text style it is not applied properly. In indesign I would solve this issue by right clicking and selecting "apply paragraph style and clear overrides". I have tried all the similar available options in Affinity Publisher but they don't seem to work the same. Any idea why and also how to solve this? Thanks :)
It's hard to diagnose without being able to see it first hand, but one thing you can try is to select the text, then if any of the paragraph or character styles are applied, right click on the applied style in the pallet and then click detach characters from [style name]. If that doesn't work, try creating a new, disposable style based on what you have going, make sure the "apply style to selection" is checked, and once it's applied, detach from that new style and delete it. If it's not that, then I'm not sure without being able to see it first hand.
This is the third or fourth video of yours I've watched, and I've enjoyed them all (and subscribed). Your information is first rate, and you have a good presentation. But I do have to echo "dogmasotherside" comment. If you really "have" to have the music, could you lower its volume, at least? It's almost at the same level as your voice and it isn't always easy separating the two. I'd rather hear what you're saying!
@@garyspeed8961 How am I supposed to take anyone seriously when they use that many exclamation points. Also, there's a note in the description about this issue.
