Its amazing i am a 10 grade dropout that made C's, D's and F's in math, i could never retain what teachers where trying to teach in school with chalk bored methods, it would take me weeks to drill much more basic mathematics than this into my head using typical teaching methods but i pretty much retained and understand everything in this video in 9 minutes at worst watching it 1-2 more times would be perfect. Its amazing with videos like this i could learn everything from 1st-12th grade and on into collage level in less than a year by these standards i only wish i was about 10 years ahead so i could have had access to this stuff when i needed it most, textbooks and teachers did not cut it for me all i needed was the ability to have problems visualized in front of me in a clean simple manner at a pace i can handle with the ability to pause, rewind as i please. And i know i must not be the only person that was like myself that has found this way to be ten times more effective.
Exactly what I has been thinking about. I hated my math teacher and actually this hatred was mutual. And the same was in college. Now after about 4-5 years of not doing math at all and feeling an instant urge to learn things with this guy explaining everything so cheerfully I have eventually learnt a lot of things that I could not comprehend earlier in my life even in my native language
Why dont you become my Maths teacher?? You taught me the whole thing in 18 minutes.I couldnt understand what my teacher is saying which took more than 3 months!!!
Hello, I provide the homework solutions in a very detailed manner on my WhatsApp group...if you need help regarding your school homework please WhatsApp me on 7827815929
Sejal I. Whoops! 1300 total, 680 reading 620 math. I jumped ship to the act this February and got a 33 composite with a 30 on the math section and a 34 on everything else
These are such a big help! I transferred schools and I was handed a bunch of work just to make up, and the teachers are helpful, but none of it made sense! Thank you so much!
Imagine if you had not followed your purpose to be such a blessing and great help to millions around the world...Thank you for the work you and your team continue to do.
You could also say. And this way is easier too. ....... (Some =people/have ) (Curly =brown/hair ) (Through = proper brushing ) *for* Sin =perpendicular/hypotenuse Cos =base/hypotenuse Tan =perpendicular/base
i have easy formula for this "some people have curly brown hair through proper brushes" s=p/h c=b/h t=p/b p=perpendicular b=base h=hypotenuse s=sin c=cos t=tan
Khan, you are such a good teacher! I have felt good at math and now have confidence. The way you explain, use colors, and write out is helping perfectly.
I'm here as a 13 year old trying learn calculus and later on quantum mechanics because I love stuff like this. Also maybe it'll be easier in the future. /:
lol.... You dont really need to know all of this for game development. I a game designer soooo... lol. However this knowledge does not hurt. I would say focus your attention to other areas in game development if you are new.
Its way too early for you to study calculus mate, stick with your middle school math nad later on highschool math. If u do it right, caclulus will be a piece of cake! Good luck :)
thank you so much for uploading these, i studied chemistry and got an A+ thanks to your videos, i hope i will get a good mark from math too bcs my teacher doesn't want to practice with us and we have to do everything alone :( your videos are so helpful you have no idea
In my native language the analogue of "soh cah toa" would be "ppppp ppppp pppppp" sin = przyprostokątna przeciwległa podzielona przez przeciwprostokątną cos = przyprostokątna przyległa podzielona przez przeciwprostokątną tan = przyprostokątna przeciwległa podzielona przez przyprostokątną przyległą It's the best mnemonic technique. EVER!!!1
cristixyz Well nobody would ever use this ridiculous method. It's just opposite to useful. There's a chance that I was the first person to "invent" it at the time.
cristixyz Complaining can be really useful sometimes, even if you're living a wonderful life with luxuries such as clean running water, food, sewage system, very advanced calculator, Internet access and plenty of toilet paper. There are plenty of uncolonized planets, stupid government policies, mosquitoes, poor people, adware and many other more or less important issues that require attention. :)
I actually knew how it worked, also I could solve the questions but I still thought that it would better if I had listen to you once, and it was as I thought. You amazingly can explain the complex information in simple form.
I have a couple of questions. Someone, answer them please. 1.) Is it correct you only use these in generalizations, or is something else possible? 2.) Can you ever have an improper fraction or a mixed number? 3.) What would be the Adjacent over Opposite side length be called? 4.) Why is the Hypotenuse never a numberator, but always a denominator? 5.) Would a possible response to number 4 be 'The Pythagorean Theorem is A^2+B^2=H^2, which states the Hypotenuse is the longest side'? Thanks!!!!!
Thank you! I have a GED test this sat. and your videos are helping me learn fast and in a fun way! (because your kinda funny) Your lessons are greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work!
I love learning but I (almost) hate school. I've found Khan Academy to be much better than schools because unlike schools it: 1. Doesn't make learning a forced and boring task but instead makes learning fun and interesting. 2. Gives you a feeling of freedom over your education, no forced times and always available. 3. Doesn't always push you further but gives you time to go back and relearn what you've forgotten. 4. Allows you to learn what you want and doesn't force subjects onto you. 4.5. Is available for basically everyone with access to internet, no matter your age or where you live. I have overall learnt more from schools, met more friends thanks to schools, received free food from schools and have gotten other things thanks to schools and for all those things I am thankful. If however you were to compare the amount of time I've spent at school and at Khan academy and then compare the ambition and knowledge I've received for each subject from them Khan academy is a much better alternative for my learning.
Ive got my maths test today, and my maths teacher thought it would be smart to skip this part and go straight into determining angles and sides, thanks Khan
Nice video. I am trying to prepare for Trig in college next month. I barely passed Algebra. Never been good in understanding Math. I think i got this a little bit though. Maybe take a few times watching it to get it to absorb in my brain!
"Some people have curly brown hair through proper brushing" This one's much easier to understand. Some people have: Sin=perpendicular/base Curly brown hair:Cos=base/hypotenuse Through proper brushing:tangent=perpendicular/base.
@kavalpatel23 That is when you have to use the unit circle definition to find the cos or tan of the right angle. If you are curious, cos(90 degrees) = 0 tan(90 degrees) is undefined.
@purplehaze216 The sin function is to be used with the angles inside the triangle, not the sides. Also, your calculator will probably calculate the ratio of the sides to give you the decimal value of what that ratio/fraction would be. To get a fraction from a TI-83 or similar calculator. press MATH-->ENTER-->ENTER.
my indian teacher taught me like this: some people have, curly brown hair, turned permanently black -------> sin = perpendicular/hyp, cos = base/ hyp, tan = perpendicular/ base; and i never forgot it ever since....
This is the video that made me LOVE Trig, well math in general for the whole site. KhanAcademy is an amazing site. With other teachers I get the feeling that they just do not care at all. I do not get that feeling here. Great Stuff.
I'm sorry, when you said "pneumonic" in the video it really bothered me because it's spelled "mnemonic" and I don't see where you could have gotten the "u" sound from. Pneumonic means relating to pneumonia.
Eventually, perhaps. But don't underestimate the effects of real-time interaction. Hands-on, person-to-person teaching is still perhaps the most effective method.
The Trigonometry class I'm taking starts in two weeks I plan to watch all your videos on the subject Khan Academy I learned a lot from this one 9min video and I want to learn more!
In my opinion this should be the new way of learning. Imagine how much people can learn in such a small amount of time. AND it saves money for the government it's a win win situation. But you need somebody like this guy which doesn't have a boring voice. :)
No one here but always finding the simplest way of beating your failure! Khan academy always good and preaching most simply ever on youtube! Hats off to ur gud work!😁😁😁it always helo me being a brown kid...
I'm a bit 'slower' and so I literally don't get anything out of sitting in class for an hour listening to my teacher talk yet I come here and everything makes sense and everything's explained in a very reasonable amount of time big big thanks khan 👍
