I've been playing trumpet for nearly 4 years now and as I am writing this comment there's a bit of a pandemic going on and since this is has started I havent really played trumpet, I still remember how to play and read music but the one thing I forgot is basically articulations and me watching this video got me all hyped because I finally remembered how and even more in depth from when I first learned it. Thank you for this short video. I’ll add it to my big playlist and share with my students. I’m the new guy in campus and need every resource possible to clear up their bad habits from lack of good fundamentals from the past couple years.
How about Claude Gordon's "K Tongue Modified"? He says to never let the very tip of the tongue strike the upper teeth. It should lay on the bottom teeth or floating around there, while the section of the tongue just before it should strike the same zone you talk about in the video. +Armando Giordano Thank you! I believe what Mr. Gordon is describe here is what some call "dorsal tonguing" or "anchor tonguing." Many successful players have used this method (Armando Ghitalla, Gordon), although it is not widely used today. If it works for you, then use it. If not, don't. I could never get good consistency with this type of articulation.
