The statements make truth relative because it depends on the perspective. Men and women have different views in life about marriage. lol Ex. I love, but not that much - - - - > True I love you, but I'm not the married type - - - - - > True to men I cheat, but I love you still - - - - - > True But to women, those statements are False.
I'm a 30-year-old returning student in the communications field (a.k.a. no-math zone). I'm currently taking the one and only math credit I need for my degree and struggling... HOWEVER you've really simplified this entire thing and I'm laughing in disbelief because I understand it now!! Test tomorrow and I'm feeling MUCH better about it! Thank you! Will be looking at more of your videos!
Thank you so much! I love how you presented this. I have been studying since 445am this morning and you helped me understand this in less than 9 minutes. All the thank yous!
That makes absolutely no sense to me. The first table you made, the second row, they love you and they don't want to marry you, why is that false? I've been there, in those type of relationships. Also could be a family member saying I love you but don't want to marry you so that statement isn't false, right? And th last one, they don't love you and they don't want to marry you, how is that false? They're telling you the truth?
Christian - I did use a sensitive topic here. You may want to replace my statements with p = I ate pizza, and q with I ate quiche, then see how it goes. If I say I ate pizza or I ate quiche and I ate either one of them, then I am telling the truth. If I say I ate pizza or I ate quiche and I ate neither one of them, then I was not telling the truth. As for the AND table. If I say I ate pizza and I ate quiche, yet in reality I only ate one of the two, then I am not telling the truth. I hope this helps a bit.
One the second line someone can love someone but not marry them and the second statement can still be true? I am taking logic and this is what throws me off understanding logic, will you please explain why this is false?
I laughed a little bit about the p^q when p is f and q is f. Hahaha she said ow if he said i love you but false and i want to marry you but false thats false. Its just that the ifs are funny. 😂
This video was awesome! Thank you! Quick question though, can you use the truth table that was set up for the letters P and Q for any other statement that has other letters such as A and B.
Helped a lot. Lecturer has written detailed notes for each lecture, sometimes as much as twenty pages. I still had no idea what he was talking about. Folks like Karen on youtube have been a godsend in explaining this in an easy to understand manner. Thank you.
