My 1st bikes, threaded adjusters, including '71 CB750. Later, XS 850 triple, shim over bucket - still easy. 1st PIA '80 KZ650 - 1st of shim under bucket. All later bikes with engines over 10k rpm redline - SUB. VStrom 650 probably biggest PIA, but after initial adjust, don't have to do it for another 60k plus miles. Pretty easy on valves. Feel bad for techs, but I don't always trust them to do it right. Great video.

Oh yeah, just bought a '23 blue tank, bronze frame SV 650. This thing sounds so sweet.

Yeah man, unless you have a reliable tech you can trust it's good but if not it's best to do it on your own. So which type was your favorite to work on? I'm assuming the threaded adjuster type? 😅😅

@@MototalkUSA To tell you the truth, the XS 850 and my XS 11 were pretty easy. Loved those bikes and those times. Had a '79 CBX and it was SOB. At the time, you couldn't even get shims to do adjustment. When I was a mechanic in "79, the Honda dealership I worked for charged for valve adjust on CBX and never lifted a valve cover. They were still cool bikes. All in all threaded adjust was great. New bikes are ferociously powerful, but I had just as good a time back then. No cops. No traffic Lots of Freedom..

@@TrustyZ900 Nice man! Good times back then! 👍 Now you can't do really anything without getting a ticket 😅 That's kinda messed up how the dealership never lifted a cover 😅

Ok, I see you're bored in the winter.. if you can't rev it, let's explore it. 😂 Great vid, how long to get to that point and why, did you hear or feel something?

Hahah🤣, that's one way to put it, but spring is just around the corner! 💪 I would say about an hour and a half, nice and easy to get there. No there was no issue at all, it's part of the service. According to the service intervals, valve clearance must be checked every 15K miles and adjusted if needed, so I have 20K and didn't check them until now 😊
