Thank you so much Pat! This is a lot harder to do with acrylics, and I paint very few acrylic. Most I am an oil painter. Only do acrylic once in a great while. So sorry. 🌹
I am glad you found me Betty, and thank you. (My mothers name is Betty) This yellow rose is painted with acrylic, but usually I paint in oils. It is a beautiful flower. Hope you try it.
I have had the watercolor comment already Rick and you are right, it is so pastel. I love that part of it. One can always make it a lot more colorful, but I like the softness! Thanks for watching!
Thank you Jacques, that is the first time I have ever heard that word. I had to look it up! These flowers are so delicate, and so fun to paint. Thank you for the comment!
So beautiful. I love it. You are a great teacher. I love in the way you teach, you go very slow, step by step, that is the perfect way to teach, specially for the beginners like me. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much Migdalia! Yes I am a slow teacher because I have so many people who are beginners, and I know that is better for them. Hope it will help you too!
That is so nice of you to say Ayesha! It is really good to get the feedback of my audience, and I am glad you enjoyed my video. Do try to paint this flower. It is a lot of fun. 🌹
Thank you Jana, You will like painting this one, and you can always do it in oil instead. I know you are not that fond of acrylic. Anyway, have fun with it! Hugs
Wonderful Susan, I think you will love learning this flower. One thing I learned (that is not in the video) is that you have to use a little thicker paint than I did to make the flower show up better. Hope you enjoy the learning process. It can be frustrating, but still tons of fun!
Ooh so beautiful!! You make it look so easy...it's inspiring and I must try to paint this!🤔try being what it will be!! I love and prefer acrylics. You are amazing thank you for sharing.👏🏻👏🏻💕💕😍❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
You will love painting this flower Maureen! It does take time to learn, and takes a lot of parctice, but so well worth it! I love painting it in oil best, but acrylic works too. Just takes more patience. Have fun with it.
Can I substitute oils for your Acrylics, I do not have acrylics. I do love your instructions, have done a couple of the posies. Thank you for taking the time to teach us beginners! Love you!
Yes Ursula, you absolutely can substitute oils for this flower. It will turn out even better in oils. That is my preferred medium, but I had people that wanted to see this in acrylic. If you did not see this in oils here is a link in pink. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yv8UlasRkXg.html And here is one in purple. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KUezQaC4cfI.html

Hi Yovette! Oh your flower is so delicate and lovely. I don't typically use medium in my paintings, I am intrigued to give it a try after seeing you paint this gorgeous bloom. All my best to you Yovette!!
Sorry I am so late in answering Dena! This really is such a delicate flower, and it was really easy to do working with the medium. Experienced acrylic painters can do this easily with water I am sure, but I am pretty new and need lots of help. LOL
Thank you so much Caroline. I do not do a lot of acrylic paintings, but this is one of my acrylic florals. I am glad you enjoyed this. And a big welcome to my channel. I hope you find more paintings that are to your liking. 🌹
Hello, haven't finish watching yet, but I have a Q right away from the second part: why we would use a medium to slow dry time if we leave each section to dry over night anyway ? My Q might sound dumb but I am a beginner , so trying to learn everything right now . And I absolutely love your videos and the way how you teach ! Thank you
No question is stupid Anna. I have only dried the undercoat overnight. It seem to cure really hard that way. The flower itself is painted all at one time, and not dried between layers. Hope that answers your question.
Hi Yovette, First of all I love your name. Your paintings are absolutley beautifull I'm practicing over and over, to capture your strokes and also the blending. I'm 76 and with the covit I have started to pick up my painting again, I did not paint for years, I used to paint in oils and now also try acrylics. I find acrylics very challenging because It dries so fast. How do you make the medium you use, because it seems to make the paint flow so beautiful? Could you maybe help me to make the medium? I'm also ordering the brushes fro Amazon. Thank you so much it's going to be a long winter. You're amazing.
It was delightful to read you letter Johanna! Yes, acrylics are a big challenge, and I do very little of them. I am mostly an oil painter and love oils. So the medium I used was a home made blend that I thought worked wonderfully! Here is the link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WUC3vCther4.html But also you can purchase an already made product on Amazon or any craft store that also works. You would look for extenders for acrylic or slow dry mediums. Thank you for your very nice compliment, and I hope you have a wonderful experience! We are almost the same age, I am 77.
Thank you for subbing Carol! In that particular video I was using acrylic and I was using an extender medium to help the paint stay wet longer. I don't normally use acrylic, I mostly use oil. Welcome to my channel. I hope you can learn some things from me.
I am really enjoying your videos. You explain so clearly. You inspire me to paint on canvas . One question. Is the medium the same for both oil and acrylic? Might seem like a no brainer but I am confused. You used your medium in your videos and some were oil. I thought oil and water don’t mix. I am a beginner so please explain. I sincerely appreciate you taking your time to teach us from afar. Have an amazingly awesome super deluxe day! Be safe! Stay well!
The mediums in acrylic and oil's are different Sarah. You are right, you can't mix water and oil. Acrylic mediums have to be water soluable. And oil mediums have to be oil based. I am so happy to be inspiring you, and thank you for your very nice compliment! 🌹
Hi Yovette - why do I have such a problem with yellow? I have yellow upon yellow tube, pot etc, various makes and it seems as if there is just no pigment in it! Any brush stroke just leaves a watery blob. Is this characteristic wrt acrylics? Once again, what a sterling painting the above is!
The pigment in yellow acrylic is not very much Jacques! That is one reason I use Liquitex Heavy Body paint. It has more pigments than most brands. Using yellow, you can also add white which will help it show more. And, or, you can let the first coat dry completely, then go over the whole flower again with a second coat. Hope that helps. This is a lovely flower with lovely colors, so I hope you are able to resolve the issue.
OMG, I am so sorry. Thank you for letting me know. I have updated the link. Here is the new one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yv8UlasRkXg.html 🌺
I am not quite sure what you mean Vincent when you asked, can you do this same painting in acrylics. This painting is done in acrylics, but you could also do it in oils if you wanted to. It is a little bit more difficult to do this in acrylic than it is with oil paint, because acrylic does not blend quite as easily as oil does.
Yes you can Munnjean! This is the oil painting, but it is in pink insgead of yellow colors. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xxCUAeV7FXo.html Just blend the two painting together by adding foliage, and it should turn out great! Let me know how it works for you.
Thank you Jewell? A lot of my followers would also love to get Indian Yellow. I did find it in Golden, and Liquitex. It's a great transparent color! Thank you Dear.
Is there any way to talk with you? I have been trying and trying and trying to do this flower and I can not figure out why my picture isn't turning out? I am about to give up on it but I really think there must be a reason why it isn't working out?
Can you describe what is happening Cindy and send it to me in an email? paintingwithyovette@gmail.com I will see if I can help. Maybe send a photo too?
Seems a lot of people miss that Pauline. Right under my video, there is a little written part that says SHOW MORE. If you click on that, a box drops down giving you a lot more information. Try it, and let me know if it works for you!
So sorry Mars, but I have new people joining all the time, hearing the same thing may get old to you, but it is new to them. Thank you for you thoughts.
