Scorch main here You can pop an incindiary trap over Tone's wall and ignite it with your launcher or firewall You can bodyblock titans while burning them alive You can input the eject sequence during the flame core animation. This ensures you eject and get your core off while you do it When about to use flame core, especially when outnumbered or against a Ronin, drop e-smoke so they can't see your flame core or the animation. This will catch them off guard so no dodges, sword blocks, or phase dashes kite your well earned core damage. Most Ronins and Monarchs will charge through your smoke
additionally: you can throw incendiary traps while flame shield is out, as well as ignite traps with flame shield. get close to an enemy titan, start using flame shield, then, while flame shield is still up n cooking, toss a trap behind ur event as they back up. they either face tank ur shield or walk thru a trap. neither is good. with this tip, i do want to say, find any way u can to utilize ur flame shield for damage. like, don't not protect urself, but ur primary goal with scorch is to scorch people. the flame shield is a really solid source of damage n will help u take down most targets in seconds
Fun fact: The use of incendiaries in warfare is not actually a war crime. It becomes a war crime if you use incendiaries upon civilians or forests. So, Scorch can go to town as long as he isn't targeting anyone that isn't a soldier!
I disnt know that, but also, this is based hundreds of years into the future where titans, wall running, and jet/ boost packs exist so I'm sure the rules of war are a lot different lol

Stranges tip here: FLANK It might sound strange because you're such a big and slow boi. Since scorch is great in close maps, the distance you have to cover is small too. Once you get behind the enemies, you can shoot the weaker titans and use flame shield on the slower ones (especially legions). This helps because scorch's weapon is slow and if you miss you could hit nothing at all if you try to go face to face against a group. Also this gives an opening to your team because a scorch within close distance is a problem that the enemy team has to resolve, or is a big target that at least a titan or two will look, distracting them in the process. For this strategy, i use Inferno Shield and overcore so that i can get as much damage i can
I’m a scratch flanker, I love being some horror movie slasher just appearing RIGHT behind the enemy with a circle of fire and cause them to panic plus if it doesn’t make them panic it means they have no escape except me and my team on both sides, I’ll never not miss a chance to fire from behind and flame shield upgrade the best no doubt, it’s my main damage, like how ion’s laser shot is her main weapon my fire wall is mine, in fact my thermite launcher is more used to activate traps more than damage titans
As an Ion main who dies all the time to Scorch, you absolutely HAVE to flank. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've been focused on a core 3 Monarch or some ANNOYING RONIN IN MY FACE only to see my healthbar start melting, turn around and see a Scorch with their thermal shield up my nose. Ronin isn't sneaky but is fast enough to catch you by surprise. Scorch on the other hand is big and slow, most of the time I won't even see their mark on the minimap until my butt is melting. Running the inferno shield kit makes this even deadlier. My other tip is if you get Forward Base Kodai or Homestead.... switch off of Scorch.
Forward base is pretty much impossible, but if everyone's in the center, you can stay in the three path intersection near the building everyone fights at and still do pretty well.
Nope, will never go off scorch, except homestead, all my homies hate homestead But seriously homestead in Titan brawl is soooo boring it’s just tone and north star
Helpful scorch tricks, if you have a wall near you, you can shoot the thermite launcher’s shot onto the wall, and it will drip down and damage a pilot rodeoing you, which can be dangerously effective at eliminating a pilot when combined with your smoke. If you can’t prevent the rodeo, you can turn around, fire a thermite trap, light it, and then turn away from it, and when the pilot jumps off from rodeo, they will fall right into your thermite
As a War Crime main, I can say that the fire shield can only ever be used as a primary weapon and temperate plating is vital for proper flanking maneuvers.
@@crazyluck8708 personally, I just think you need to be thoughtful of where you place your fire and where you enemy is going to go after they disengage, this is how I catch a lot of Legions, Ions, Ronins and Monarchs off guard. Flame shield is a defensive at long rage and offensive at close range, do not consider it a primary as when you pair body blocking with gas canisters behind and a flame wall to their left or right and your out of flame shield it's really sad because your just standing there reloading. Temperate plating is good but in my experience the longer duration and higher damage of the flame shield kit is better
Tempered plating allows putting down some thermite under the enemy titan and also using the inferno shield, and that i think deals even more damage than the shield buff. And we all know thats exactly why we play scorch (also on tight maps anyway so you probably want to walk over your thermite). But yeah your ways are probably more optimal but i just really like melting things right in front of me
A Random Grunt: "I swear papa, I didn't eat the last cookie!!!" Scorch: "Do you swear you didn't eat the last cookie?" Grunt: "I swear." Scorch: "Well, I have footage of you eating it so LIER LIER PANTS ON FIRE." Grunt: *Pants burst into flame.* Scorch: "Have you learnt your lesson?" Grunt: *Agonized screaming* As always, good video R3eech!
PAPA SCORCH IS HERE BABY THE BARBECUE IS HOT AND RONIN IS IN SEASON. Hmmm, thermal plating is probably not the most optimal sure But I also like to oonga some boongas when I play and ignite the ground beneath my feet and my enemy’s feet and it surprisingly works A lot Like it really should actually “Dude, the floor is literally lava and you’re still standing in it and taking my shield? Ok” I mean hey, to each their own
I may be weird, but I use thermal plating and I like it. It gives me a lot of potential to attack, retreat and flank. And yes, OONGA BUNGA WITH MY 'WARM' SHIELD YEEEAH
i've been anticipating this video since i struggle to use scorch. your 'basically...' videos have helped me improve by a long shot, plus they're pretty entertaining. thanks for the birthday gift :)
Scorch veteran here (been here 7+ years, woohoo!) - there's a lot of hidden depth to his primary that people miss, simply because the thermite actually falls with gravity. You can use this to activate incendiary traps behind tone walls, over and around cover, etc. You can pretty quickly flush enemies out of cover simply by targeting walls near them to dump thermite behind them (especially since the incendiary traps follow nearly the same arc as Scorch's primary). You've earned a sub! I will watch your career with great interest.
the reason i use tempered plating is because i just really like to empty my canisters and flame wall at once, then melt the enemy with flame shield. sure it may not be the most optimal tactic, but it is very fun and gets the job done effectively and quickly. naturally, i also paired this with nuke eject. with or without a roof above me.
On another note from my other comment, I LOVE this editing style, mashing together the style of Team Fortress 2 youtubers while still keeping your own amazing style! Perfection. I loved noticing those Lazypurple moments too! This editing style is amazing, just don't lose your original style in the process. Keep up the exceptional work soldier!
With Tempered Plating, rather than "chasing the enemy through your fire" is best to use it to maximize your damage when attacking enemies, mixing the traps, a fire wall + your fire shield on a enemy kills everything super fast in my experience.
Yeah his arguments are bad. Plating is the best perk by far. Not being able to chase opponents down will limit Scorch's effectiveness. Not being able to stand in your fire will limit how much damage you can stack together which is vital to get your core off before they get away. If he recommends playing Scorch as a tougher Northstar..........then why not play Northstar?
I’m a scorch main and I gotta say he is an insanely good titan. He has the lowest skill floor but the highest skill ceiling which makes learning him satisfying. One tactic most scorches fail to execute is putting thermite not necessarily on the enemy but where the enemy would be forced to flee when you chase them down with the flame shield. If you can get enemies between your flame shield and loads of thermite then they are already dead. He just requires a lot of planning and situational awareness, but he is good
Allow me, a pretty decent G26 Scorch, to make a statement in the defense of tempered plating: You can stack flame shield and incendiary traps to deal maximum damage without taking any yourself. That extra DPS comes in handy a lot more than you think, especially in Scorch 1v1s and whenever a Legion hits you with the smart core jumpscare Wildfire launcher is definitely Scorch's best kit, but I'd say tempered plating is on par, if not ever so slightly worse than inferno shield
I love this style of class-based introduction type videos! It reminds me of Lazypurple's "how it feels" series and man do I like it, keep up the great work man!
Additionally to the feet tip: hitting the lower half of a titan actually makes the thermite grenade STICK to the titan, dealing guaranteed continuous damage. Combine with wildfire launcher kit and reload cancelling, the launcher actually becomes viable
I began playing. A few weeks ago and I've been really enjoying tone...but the moment I saw that fire shield and kit I knew scorch had the annoying controlling abilities I love
As a Scorch main and someone who basically only plays frontier defence, BURN THE WORLD AND BOIL THE OCEANS. NONE SHALL SURVIVE (Also fighting ai scorchs in fd with no movement hurts my soul)
I have been playing scorch for the longest time and something that I find useful when using the shield kit is to execute as many enemies as possible getting the temporary invincibility has saved my bacon so many times it is almost unbelievable also one of the best ways that I have found to play scorch with high success is playing with a Northstar they can also do heavy range damage and support you during pushes if you simply be their bodyguard when they are In Any danger at all
I have only 33 hrs on this game, scorch fits my sytle the best(as a long time tank player of the worst game, OW). His entire style isn't actually killing the enemy but rather deny the space of the enemy, he is a very tanky of a character that can prevent people from going in to you rather then go out. That is pretty much a reason why he is underwhelming but still consider a good titan, he has all the qualities to be more of a team focused titan + have a strong ability to deny area. vs all other titans that can go solo and do well on its own. I find scorch as a team player, just having 2nd player titan who can communicate can lead to a team wipe of titans
"can you hit your shots" Me a northstar and scorch main sniping people directly after they eject: Edit: after actually watching the whole video I have concluded that scorch is like heavy from the other tf2
so.. tempered plating, I personally play like a beefed up ronin so i usually hide without shooting therefore eliminating my map presence, come up to an unsuspecting titan, launch myself at them like the gorilla scorch is and then use an incendiary trap to seal exit and promptly escape. It works especially well when there's a team fight and other titans aren't actively searching for you. Papa Scroch is a surprisingly good ambush predator
As a die-hard scorch main, sniper scorch with wildfire never occurred to me... I never thought about how many shots you land in a whole game, that adds up.
@@ericbotondbatternay8452 yeah but why would you, all your abilities work only in close ranges. And if your idea is to snipe, why woudnt you just take a better titan for that purpose? Commit to your role instead to be weaker in 2 different playstyles
He takes a lot of skill to master. You have to be situationally aware, tactical with your traps and wall, and don't be afraid to get into the fight. Flame shield with inferno shield (the only kit there is for him) can do amazing if you are unafraid to get in peoples faces. One thing I think people flat out ignore is Scorch's ability to deny area control. If your team is cornered, turn around, prevent flanks, even if you are not stacking damage, keeping the enemy from advancing can be beneficial. Scorch is a king when used in the right hands, as someone that loves the challenge and has mastered him, he can change the tide of battle.
although i am a fully cooked papa scorch main by now, i still use tempered plating, usefull for agressive playstyles, when you surround someone clueless in fire, you can just march in and put your shield in their face, without taking damage, which is awesome.
Guys Guys this is liitterally soundmith. he doesn't want to become tf 2 youtuber but he already is. he can make then funny happen (its the same type of funny). he can make guides that don't give me adhd lvls of boredom .
Im a Ronin main but i love papa scorch and I'm frontier defense especially in any close in maps which is pretty much all of them you can absolutely melt literally waves of enemies.
another awesome video, totally agree with your take on the kits, I constantly see ppl say tempered plating is the best when it's just like... clearly not lol
Here's the non-bad-player way to run tempered plating: Surprise. Flank. Play the long game. Catch a titan facing away from you. Dump everything at its feet AND then use your flame shield to melt their face off while standing in your own lake of fire. It pays off. By the time they even realise what hit them, theyre dead.
Was walking down the street, got mugged but thankfully I had this video on my phone, which distracted him as he wanted to watch it too. Thank you r3eech for saving my life and possessions.
I recently had to start a new account, which sucked because I'm against smurfing, intentionally or not (even if Titanfall doesn’t really have a ranked system) But it gave me the opportunity to revisit other titans that I hadn't played as much as my mains before (primarily legion and northstar). Most of this reason was just because I wanted to level up the titans so I don't have to use creds to buy the stuff I want for them later, but a part of me wanted to learn varied playstyles so I could just better understand the Titans in general, since it'd been so long since I last played. Tldr; I remembered picking Scorch up again for a little bit an was actually kinda blown away how much damage I got out of the wildfire launcher. It absolutely shredded Titans who were caught off guard and ever since those 10 or so matches where I used it over an over, it's been kinda hard to gaslight myself into thinking I'm getting more value out of inferno shield.
Auto Scorch with smart chip and fireproof armor is pure fun on most of the maps, even big ones. It has lot of health, its abilities have big area so it doesnt need real player accuracy, also most of players underestimate auto titans thinking OH YES FREE BATTERY and don’t know that I’m lurking nearby, and Scorch can protect himself with heat shield. Also it can destroy infantry gaining victory points while you are focusing on enemy pilots and warn you that enemy pilot is nearby (good if you don’t hear sounds of Jetpack in intense firefight). Also Scorch is the only auto titan which can kill Ronin without my help in close combat, having free Core! All I need is to jump in the cabin and to use Flamethrower. I swear I almost have relationship with my Scorch buddy in multiplayer as Cooper with BT in singleplayer. Sometimes my Auto has more kills then weakest players in enemy team…
personally, i choose the Tempered Plating. from experience, i find scorch to be very reliable to use especially in tight corners. i typically play scorch as a DPS dump when i can. if there's more than enough titans in one spot, i can pump out both incendiary canisters, set my firewall, and walk in to use my flameshield. it absolutely MELTS people. i understand it's a wasteful playstyle, but man can it shred even a superior chassis monarch in under 10 seconds
The geneva convention is more of a suggestion than actual code - sincerely, this Scorch main Also if you can get the hang of weaponizing the thermite launcher's trajectory, you can hit enemies further than you might think.
Don't know about the plating thing. Using tempered plating enables you to a realy aggressive playstile. Combine this with flanking enemy teams (a good scorch player is always seen to late) and your cause absolute havoc within enemy teams. This is really usefull when they tend to play in a big group of titans becaus they will all run away in diffrent direction preventing them from closing lanes which allows your allys to close in. With this tactic between 5 and 8 Titan kills are nit rare in attrition
R3eech's arguments are terrible. Plating demolishes every other perk in the hands of a great Scorch main. Standing in your own fire means you can pop an incendiary with thermal shield which does massive damage MUCH MUCH quicker than the extended shield perk. Plus invulnerable to crits is huge since it doesn't rely on a cooldown unlike every other perk. This aspect is always just ignored by Plating haters.
Another tip from a Scorch main would be LEARN TO PLAY ANOTHER TITAN. On some maps Scorch is a complete deadweight, so knowing how to play one of Ion, Northstar, Tone or Legion can give you the leg up you'll need to win. Also knowing WHEN you shouldn't be playing Scorch, even on maps he's good on, is another thing you need to learn. Because even at his best, Scorch is still VERY exploitable by someone who knows what they're doing. However sometimes you'll run into a team who has no idea how to counter Scorch and that's just a warcrime waiting to happen 😤 Also that was the objectively correct Scorch kit ranking (take that, Ttgolll!)
Tip number 6 biggest war crime-^- if you have temper plating idk why but place down gas traps and look up fire wall to ignite the gas and it does more damage0-0 oddly enough if the gas canister is higher off the ground and 1 is placed under it it glows bright and does near same damage as a nuke idk if this is patched or not
I'm i scorch main. Play the ark with bt's scorch and you'll see exactly why he isn't an atlas and why he doesn't have two dashes. Also, thermal plating is good for all players, not just newbies. For example, believe it or not but overlapping incendiary traps actually stack damage. Now combine that with a firewall and getting up close and personal with a thermal shield, 'titans as good as dead. Also, in place of scorched earth, just place two incendiary traps and then use your core. Finally, always, ALWAYS remember that you can place your traps farther and closer. Like, one can be in front of another instead of putting them side by side, cause tight corridors usually don't even need that and you get more area damage by making them back up into it using the thermal shield. Alright, that's my experience. Peace.
the weirdest part about scorch for me is that his primary is basically the only titan primary i can actually hit pilots with for some fucking reason, i guess its because the projectiles while slow have a gigantic hitbox
While I agree that temperated plating is the newbie kit I can't help but feel that you're missing the point. While it may not give any other advantages at first sight you can really burst down titans when flanking and combining the damage of both your traps and flame shield in tight spaces or narrow hallways strategy that isn't viable when you are melting yourself while following your target. Plus no weakpoints means I get to be punished less by northstar and ion who thrive on hitting them with railgun and laser shot.
I've never had problems crushing with Scorch, only Titans that are a problem are North Stars, Tone users are absolute troglodytes but that's beside the point. Flanking, aggressive rushes in tight quarters, and area denial/herding. My most devastating assaults were when I whipped around a corner and bum rushed a pack of enemy Titans, using my incendiary traps and fire wall to herd them into my team's line of fire. Scorch requires a lot of patience and planning to be effective.
Plating is the best perk in the hands of a Scorch pro. Pop 1 incendiary with thermal shield and you do more damage in less time than extended shield perk. And immune to crits is huge mainly because it's completely passive, doesn't rely on any cooldown or reloading. Increase thermite damage is pointless since Scorch's main priority is to STACK damage to get his core off. And both those require getting close to the enemy. If you play him like a tougher Northstar.........then why not just play Northstar?
i would consider wildfire launcher over inferno shield IF it gave you like a faster reload too. but i just can’t for the life of me drop inferno shield when you have that extra survivability to block bullshit that comes ur way as a scorch.
