Your English didn't present any problems as far as being understood. So far I think I sound like Godzilla wearing a shock collar but it is interesting enough to put some time into it. Maybe I'll improve or maybe not. Your sound is kind of what I'm after, so however you learned your technique it was clearly effective.
Your English is fine. It is more than decently understandable, something not even some Americans can do (thinking about "mumble rap", for instance). No need to apologise, you're doing more than well on that.
Hmmm, your Kargyraa is not that low, like for instance that of the Gyoto monks from Tibet. Also, going low, I hear a deformation in the tones, maybe practice on this a wee more? :) Go check Rowan Hartsuiker here on RU-vid, he has a neat, low Kargyraa, that is tonally marvellous. :) I hope you see this as constructive.
@@MattyRlufc To build on MattyRlufc comment: As a native English speaker that lived in Europe for a good while, the average European's English is very good! Ren Vas Teral your English is more than excellent. Keep it up. Thank you for the video.
Your English is wonderful and the accent is quite precious no need to be insecure about it! You also taught me how to throat sing in a little over 11 minutes so that’s also impressive! It’ll take some practice for my throat to get used to but I think I’ve got it! Thank you
@@RenVasTerul I literally had this happen yesterday. Practicing Kargyraa by a lake looking for chanterelles and I see 3 people with mushroom baskets looking at me like "DAFUQ?!"
pretty good tutorial brochacho. Not really sure I agree with the concept of increasing pressure or tension, since in standard dag kargyraa it can be kind of important for learners to keep in mind to stay relaxed. Styles of khoomei and sygyt involve this concept of tension (constriction) a bit more, but not so much kargyraa. I try to think of it as more of an activation. In my experience teaching this, there can also be some negative effects of teaching it by coughing or clearing of the throat. I'm not a vocal anatomy expert, but there are definitely muscles involved in those processes other than the false vocal folds, and they often give learners habits that inhibit their tone, and in extreme cases their ability to initiate FVF vibration at all. Most commonly people tend to sort of"curl" their voice in something that sounds a bit like a kermit the frog impression lol. To singers learning through this way, definitely pay close attention not only to the amount of vibration you're getting, but also the other aspects of your tone. Really, everything above your neck should be configured just about the same as it would be if you were singing regularly. You don't seem to have these problems at all though ren, yours is pretty clean. Just something to keep in mind for learners who use this method. Also, it would be super cool if you'd join our discord server where we have a bunch of written lessons on the main throat singing styles, and we're constantly making ourselves available for live vc coaching. It's all free lol. discord.gg/RfE3hY3
Wooooah! Man! Thank you! :O To be completely honest I'm a self-learner. My dad once took part in Gendos' workshops and then he told me some basics, but from then on, it was just experimenting on my own. So I do know that this may not be the best way to learn. But tbh I just dont know a different one :-P I will surely join the discord! I would love to learn more, so I could teach it better. Thank you! ♡
Ren Vas Terul Yeah, Im pretty much a self learner as well. Nowadays I feel much more secure in my ability in terms of the fundamental styles because we managed to get robert mclaughlin to join the discord, and I got his approval for my khoomei lol. Cant wait to see you over there!
Oh wow i got it immediately!!! Thanks for the tutorial man! I did subharmonic singing for about a month before watching this video, and it translated really well.
Hey Ren! I just wanted to stop by to say thank you for your tutorial, it really helped me learn throat singing. I commented on this video 9 months ago and I've been training since then, it was a difficult path, but today I can already sing entire Heilung songs with throat singing. so once again thank you!
Hey! So nice to hear that! :D It actually made my day - reading this comment ♡ Really makes me feel happy that I helped some people to find that new, throatsinging voice :)
I’ve been watching videos on this for weeks, even paid for a class, and you video has been the most helpful so far. Thank you! I would definitely like to see a video on how to go lower.
Trust me, your grammar is much better than many natively English speaking people. Every word is clear and enunciated well. I appreciate your insights, and thank you very much for your time.
Hey just because you aren't a ""professional"" does not mean you don't know what your doing my friend. It actually gives us the chance to learn and grow with you. I prefer that to someone who will just have a short temper if you don't get it right away. Awesome tutorial.
Nice Video. I learned it with a beatbox bassdrum like "when i rock" from Elektrochemie LK. Awsome sound to shout "Harigasti Teiwa" from Heilungs In Maidjan in a large Stairwell with Kargyraa style. Great Hall effect :D Then name the Runes with very deep sound. My workmates were very impressed. Never heard a sound like this from a human mouth. My wife dislike it^^. So I practiced at work, driving my folklift
Getting deeper is the most challenging thing for me; getting right to the real low register and hitting those tones is getting easier, though. More like this, yes please!
Thanks a lot for the video! Holy shit your low tones are cool, would really appreciate a video about it! Also, your english isn't bad at all, it's very easy to understand you. Your accent sounds very similar to finnish people when they speak english. :D Cheers from Sweden!
Thanks for the feedback! :D Yeah, I think that I will make a video about some more advanced kargyyra tips ;) Good to know, that I can now pretend to ve Finnish :P Greets!
Dude I just wanna say thank you so much. I love listening to Heilung and currently my favorite song is Asja and Norupo. They do some throat singing and it made me want to try it out. Plus, I recently started watching The Hu. I'm finally able to get some nice solid throaty sounds out! You're amazing man!
Okay, Y'all. I get it :-D You want to get those *LOW* notes. It can be done, and as a matter of fact I recorded video on this already xD BUT, quite sadly in the video the sound was corrupted by wind :'( SO, I will record it once again, and publish as soon as I can :-) Peace ♡
Kiedy pomyślisz sobie "hmm, no dobra, jak pocisnę dalej, to przesadzę" - wtedy odpocznij i spróbuj jutro.
Thank you so much for this amazing video tutorial! Your English is excellent by the way. I really enjoyed the scenery behind you and found it very relaxing. Great work, my friend! Definitely subscribed.
FB page: facebook.com/renvasterul/ Hi! There's a follow-up video on my channel, where I explain how to achieve low notes, using this technique :-) You can check it out *here* : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CNJxRXXt3Ho.html Don't forget to subscribe for more music tutorials ♡
You are THE MAN, I am mongolian and couldn’t find lessons of Kharhiraa {khar-hyr-ugh (ᠬᠠᠷᠬᠢᠷᠠᠭᠠ)} in mongolian. Now I learn Hoomei (ᠬᠥᠭᠡᠮᠡᠢ) from Polish guy :P {coughing and “mai”-ing (ᠮᠠᠶᠢᠯᠠᠬᠤ)} :) and yes it is mongolian script from Chinggis Khaan :P written upside to down, not left to right
Oh nice! I'm happy to help :-) Well, the way I learned is that my father once took part in Gendos' workshops, and after that he sometimes used to throat sing around the house ;-) One day, when I got into music, I asked him to teach me, and he told me some basics. Then I was just kind of experimenting, and learning by trial and error. I must admit that I still am not really good at it, but I got some basic skills :-)
i personally learned how to do Khargyraa in two days and on day 3 when i got the hang of it straight off the bat, it felt amazing. I was wondering though, are you able to do khoomei and if you can, please do explain how to do it in detail because, I can do it but not to well, i sound like baby sheep when i do it.
you may love this one then, it's a workshop by Alash Ensemble, they explain every technique in detail. /watch?v=3muFdEu8dQM P.s.: many people learn throat singing in three days but very few can do it in a relaxed and efficient way (like professionals), because it takes time and perseverance. You may sound like a baby sheep now, but you will soon sound like a badass goat :-) much respect for your humbleness, it will take you far
ive been able to do a decent kargyraa for a while, practicing all the time, but your tips here helped greatly. the golden vibration is more solid now and i can get much lower thanks to you! good job with your english too, friend.
I really appreciate you taking time to do this video, it was amazing. Also, your english is perfect. I have a question for you, at 2:24, what is the first style of throat singing you describe? Do you have a video tutorial on this? I have been practicing throat singing for a short time, and it sounds like I can almost hit those "overtones" (that "whistling" sound). I would like to know if you have something on this style that will help me practice better. Thank you so much.
Hi! I do have some vague idea on other styles, and like I know the theory, but I cannot perform them correctly quite yet. I'm still learning myself :-) I may record something on Khoomei and Sygyt when I get a better hang of them. Currently my priority is a video on achieving low notes in kargyyra, cause its most requested thing :-D
Man - you’re doing great! Excellent english - I’m sure everybody PERFECTLY understands everything. I know a bit of polish but I’m understanding better in english. Great humor and analogies. I’ll try everything tomorrow, so I don’t scare the neighbors now:) Thank you very much - great job and thanks for that tutorial! It makes a lot of sense and seems like a good explanation.
Your English is great! I tried this on a whim a few weeks ago and was surprised i could kind of do it on the first try. I didnt think much of it again until this week and with a couple days practice its already getting easier. Im finding much humor in learning how to do this because it doesnt "fit" my small stature and voice. 😂 Thanks for your video! Excellent explaination.
I know this was a little while ago, but thank you for sharing your experience..I like that you say, straight up... it will be painfull. I thought I was doing it wrong..lol. I typically throat sing on my way to work in the morning. I have heard that it is good for your sinuses.
I've been listening to throat singing for 15 years and was always way too intimidated to try. I decided to give it a try... I could say i at least tried. Turns out Kargyraa came pretty easily to me . Granted i need lots more practice but it's coming along. Also your English is fantastic. I was born in Poland but i left at a very early age. I can speak it well enough but my writing sucks. So greatly appreciate this video👍 Love all your stuff man keep up the great work
Super liked your video, I’ve been listening to lots about throat singing and found yours really helpful. Your English it top notch, by the way!! Imagine me doing a video for Polish people.... I should coco! Mate, I’m on it, just practice and practice, but big strides with videos like yours. Many thanks and respect!! ✊
I am very grateful to you for these tips.... And I'm very excited about how low you can lower your voice when you sing.... Thank you very much... I think I am too ambitious.... I always don't like to stop when my throat is scratching very very hard. xD
I only recently tried kargyraa. I learn the basic kargyraa sound but this method allows me to sing deeper. The other way I learned mentioned that the "scratchiness" takes practice to go away. Only little bits at a time until it goes away, then do a little more at a time.
Dude, thank you do much. You explain how yo donit so well I was able to pick it up pretty quick, thou I have practiced some before. I wanted to start doing it after watching the new Dune Movie and listening to the Sardukar chant. Very cool brother. Thanks again
Your english is quite good! I only noticed an occasional word that was a little bit off, but it was still very easy to understand your meaning - I am looking forward to trying this!
So I like your coughing throat tightening method of learning. I could not find the right feeling from the other video I watched but by the time I tried your way I did it twice and my throat was hurting... so I'll be waiting a little before trying it again but big help! Thanks and I prefer your English it's plenty good 👍 maybe throw in how to say "throat singing" in your native tongue
HOLY SHIT!! I've been trying to get this right for years, and it just ''clicked'' with me after watching this video and now i can do it perfectly without forcing it.. :D :D
Dobra robota ziomeczku! Spośród wszystkich technik czy porad z własnego doświadczenia twoja się u mnie sprawdziła! Miesiąc i byłem w stanie wydać z siebie jakiś sensowny dźwięk, potem było tylko lepiej!
@3:17 and @5:34 it’s unbelievable you are making that. Is it normal to feel like I need a throat lozenge after? Absolutely want to learn and subbed right away!
I've read that throat singing from Tuva developed from trying to mimic animals (at least it's a theory) and when I heard you I was like holy sh*t where did this beastly sound come from
Yes but nobody really knows who did it first. Tuvans, Mongols, and Altay people agree that the first people to sing like this were the nomads around the Altay mountains. Even Sayan Bapa from Huun Huur Tu said Tuvan, Mongol, Altay, even Buryat style is from the same source.
Diaphragm! Also kinda like a growl but not quite, more like a fry but really low but not the same feeling.. I must've been able to do them forever but not be able to control them. I can control them now thank you very much!
Respect too you for doing it in English, can imagine that would be extremely stressful if not your first language so mad respects bro you did good , and taught your style quite well I thought.
I have the basics down but I don't understand how you can possibly go so deep, that is amazing. I love it. If you happen to read my comment please tell me how you do that.
By listening to this video for the first time I managed to get close to this sound (but higher in tone - I'm a woman) and without particular strain. I'm not going to do it in public any time soon, I was just curious 😂
I really like your honesty... It'll take a few months of daily practice I think I prefer the cough method, lots of sore throats throught my childhood and teen years 😝😝😝 And also, like everyone else has said, your English is excellent
Znajdujemy wspólny ton i wpadamy w rezonans, robiąc taki pożegnalny masaż dźwiękiem :D
