This man is a inspiration to all those who wish to play jazz music, regardless of what instrument you play, the soul and passion in his performances is how jazz was meant to be played, thanks Louie :)
Soul and passion. Yes. you make it your own .It's all good. Practice practice practiceI. I allways like to give God the glory. That way I feel my message gets to the audience. I play Trumpet. Louis is my favorite guy. Your point is a serious one I will always remember it .... Soul and Passion... Yeah.
Marilynstevenson865 You're right : closing one's eyes is the best way to enjoy and fully appreciate music, all kinds of music. Salutations depuis Montréal.
The Australia concert finds Louis in very relaxed form, taking slightly slower-than-usual tempi throughout. The first chorus of this Basin St. has some variations I had never heard before. Also note, after the drum solo, which went a little faster than Louis would have preferred, Louis plays a succession of plain quarter notes to get the tempi exactly to his liking!
Thanks for this, tonysando, it isbeautiful! Australian TV Broadcast (TV) March, 1963, Sydney, Australia. Armstrong, Louis (Trumpet, Vocal) Young, Trummy (Trombone) Darensbourg, Joe (Clarinet) Kyle, Billy (Piano) Shaw, Arvell (Bass) Barcelona, Danny (Drums)
Thank you, tonysando, for posting this fantastic performance of Louis Armstrong & his AllStars, live in Australia. I enjoy the complete concert that i was searching for a long time. This version of "Basin Street Blues" is a pearl. Satchmo sounds great and the band's playing is superb here.
