I've been struggling to think of a suitable colour base for my Salamanders, I gave the Mars base a go using paints that I had at hand (skrag brown, casandora yellow shade, trollslayer orange highlight) and I'm really happy with the result, thanks for the inspiration!

for texture, i find Wilders textured earth is great for this scale since the particulate size is extremely small. I mix the Dark Russian and Snow ones with a bit of grey paint and it gives you a perfect paste for some concrete rubble Wilders paints are pretty hard to get hold of tho, might be worth testing out some different brands.

I tried to convert the old plastic valhallans into Vostroyans back when Epic Armageddon came out. After two strips, with tiny tiny green stuff work on every single model, I gave up completely. It was a fun idea but just unrealistic for a whole army

Love the video. I'm going to work on Mossy Ruins tonight, but the only grey I had to base coat is Grey Seer. I fear it will be too light of a foundation sadly, but I'll give it a try as I have nothing else local. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Look at your local craft stores, you can get good deals on good paint there as well. You don't *need* to use hobby specific paints

While not super cheap, but cheaper compared to GW.. go to Element or Wayland and buy Monument Hobbies - Pro Acryl.. there is also new Army Painter stuff coming out soon as well.. basically everyuthing GW does, other companies does better for cheaper.. except blood for the blood god.. but then i doubt you are gonna use much blood in LI
