He was always considered among the best of his generation, but never the best. He was simply the coolest to watch and the funniest. He certainly filled the stadiums, but those who lived through those years remember very well that compared to 2 or 3 others he wasn't any stronger. Placed next to someone like Ronaldo, for example, it was immediately clear that there was a reason why one had earned the nickname "phenomenon" and the other had the nickname "little Ronaldo".

@@prefono He was always considered as one of the best players of his generation, but at his prime he was undoubtly the best player in the world. Unfortunately that peak lastet only 3 years at best. Ronaldo was a different beast in the 90's, but when Ronaldinho had his peak Ronaldo already was way past his prime due to his countless injuries. Sad to see such amazing players shine for such a short time.

The real G.O.A.T. Forget the stats. just watch any game with Ronaldinho, even if the old fat one plays now. The guy is special. I'm sure if he didn't entertain, then he'd have better stats then anyone. I'm not sure about his defending or goalkeeping. He has ever other skill, with bonus ability. Google some of the names he skins, and the teams. Even opposing fans had to applaud
