Coach Nick got on the court to demonstrate some of FastModel's most popular sets. Here is BYU Early - a set ripped right out of the Triangle Offense's High Post series, and also something you'd see out of the Chin Series in the Princeton Offense.

Love this setup , especially the back screen for big man at 5:47 . When the screen set, the big guy may show or hedge,it's good way to attack the ring .Thanks coach Nick!

Thanks Coach Nick, I really like the breakdowns. It is nice and simple and will be great to teach juniors. Cheers Annie

Thank you so much coach Nick! This tactic is very useful and easier to learn than triangle offense.

Reminds me of UCLA head coach John Wooden's 2- 3 High Post UCLA Cut Offense with that Pindown Screen for the 1st cutter. 1 EXTRA PASS to the other side and it could be a Double Pindown Screen for the 1st cutter.

Coach, What happened to team bballbreakdown?
@ryancurtis9

Coach, i had a similar weakside movement in an offence that my college coach wanted me to run but it seemed unpractical. The weakside screen away does not work from any level above primary school, by the time we get to high school we all well understand help side and all the basics of team defence so why on earth would a player be out on the 3 point line marking his player on the weakside? would an exchange be a more realistic way of wording the movement? thoughts?
@KennonRude
@KennonRude 8 лет назад
+ryancurtis9 head hunt on that weakside screen.. that was just a basic demonstration of usually what teams do because if that is a shooter, you dont go that far from him/her
@ryancurtis9
@ryancurtis9 8 лет назад
if you go and headhunt and end up screening in the lane then doesnt that put you in the way for the pick and roll though? Still think it should simply be an exchange...
@KennonRude
@KennonRude 8 лет назад
No it wouldn't. The weakside defense should be almost near the weakside block. It won't affect the pick and roll one bit

+ryancurtis9 I think that downscreen on the backside isn't going to be that effective because, as you said, they are in help side and will have too muchspace to work under or over. I prefer a back screen or hammer screen when occupying the weakside help.
@deandrepage1048

No thanks, I want a REAL AGGRESSIVE SCREEN SET. You confuse the defense by getting physical because they always expect offensive players to be trying to avoid physical contact. Against a simple exchange, just play switching Man-to-Man Defense.

This is not what they run in early offense. They run some of the action depicted as a set play out of 1-4 high but this is not their secondary/Early Offense

Does Coach Nick train players? Like is that his actual source of income now?

can you run this against man and 2-3?
@linkhero60
@linkhero60 8 лет назад
No, screening in zone doesn't do much.
@tylersnaza222
@tylersnaza222 8 лет назад
+luke lowder That is SOOOOO wrong. In a zone each man guards an area. If you screen that man you have essentially opened up an entire area of the court. You see this a lot for back side lobs and getting easy 3's. Also if you ball screen someone is going to have to help the man being screened, which will also open up additional areas.
@linkhero60
@linkhero60 8 лет назад
+Tyler Snaza I know how zones work dude, but your much better off running things from the high post rather than screening in a zone. Screening works much better in man
@KennonRude
@KennonRude 8 лет назад
+luke lowder that is what you think... screen a zone along with movement from other players.. its much more effective... doesnt even have to be on ball screen... yes you can pick apart a zone without screening but you if you know how to screen a zone.. it can be devastating...
