Hey what's the correct shooting motionn? Should you get to your set point and then jump or something else. I hear a lot that your legs and arms move at the same time but when I do that I reach my set point when I'm in the air and lose my power from my legs. If you could help me out that would be Amazing 😊.

Drew doesnt dip the ball and shot with his feet square to the basket? what does he teach to his clients? I'm a lot more comfortable shooting with my feet turned or turn them
@DeepGameBasketball

We are showing/talking proper fundamentals that aren't going to fit everyone's game. So, take the fundamentals and apply them to fit you and your game, if you feel more comfortable with your feet slightly turned - keep your feet slightly turned.

RCCV He has a slight chicken wing (elbow sticking out) so his arms are in a comfortable position, that's why he squares up more easily than people who shoot with their elbow locked, like Steph Curry for example.

He also twists his body for more balance. As his leg moves forward, it allows the weight of his body to spread evenly through the air for a more precise shot. This tutorial in general was very basic and wanted to focus more on the generalized textbook shooting form. Kinda like Klay Thompson

I used to be a good shooter from way beyond the 3 point line, but I got a injury In the beginning of the season that forced me to sit out for the rest of it. I started playing again and for the last 2 months I haven't been the same. i practice and practice my shot everyday but I can't seem to be accurate from barely past the 3 point line and i airball often now. I'm trying to change my shot but I dont know where I should have my set point at. Where would you recommend I have it? And also I'm having trouble having a one motion shot, any suggestions on getting that one motion shot again? Thanks Drew!
@DeepGameBasketball
@DeepGameBasketball 7 лет назад
Go back to the shot that was working prior to your injury (if range of motion isn't an issue). Work on your strength and stay within in the key mastering your form for many weeks. And move out very slowly. - Joe @ TeamEGT
@rohanwalia1546
@rohanwalia1546 6 лет назад
Be consistent, shoot closer to rim than gradually go out to 3 point line each week. Your set point should be in your face, depends how old you are. I shoot beyond the three point line with a chin set point (finger at chin) but I shoot with my set point at my eyebrows in the mid-range.

XMccracken what I would do is slowly move back so start close and do maybe 25 of those then move back and make 25 and keep going farther back as you progress because it will help with maintaining your release farther back and out to the three point line

You must watch the videos of Shooting Pro System of the Coach Hoover, he explains very well that, and you are going to see that coach Drew it´s wrong in this. And Also watch the ideos of Shot Mechanics of Coach Collin Castellaw.
@stevenferguson5910
@stevenferguson5910 6 лет назад
Tip 3. "Quickly, cleanly get the ball to your lift pocket." Some coaches are adamant about NOT dipping. Some coaches concede that dipping the ball is natural. Look at most NBA shooters. They dip the ball more than Drew Hanlon does in this video, many below their waist. I would say that any dip with the ball would be simultaneous to your downward leg bend, however far both actions may be. Similarly, your upward release motion is coincident with your leg extension to the apex of your jump. If you think about it, a deep leg bend would allow for more shooting power but would necessarily take (slightly) more time. If your dip occurs within the same time frame, no time is lost overall in getting the ball off. Your dip can go to your thigh (pro shooting system) with deep leg bend or above your waist (Drew) with slight leg flexure. Seems to me consistency would be the more important factor than the actual extent of the dip. Also consider the overall time required from catch to release. A deeper dip with leg bend definitely takes more time. Good footwork can shorten that time frame. But an errant pass negates any benefit. In the training video, the ball is handed to the shooter with perfect shot pocket placement As for the "shooting pro system coach hoover" .... perhaps you might look at the guy and his professional credentials? What I see is a fat dude talking to youth basketball players. While the ideas may be effective and based on empirical observations and training results, I have never actually seen Hoover shoot. In contrast, Drew Hanlon is an NBA trainer who is highly compensated by PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS for his knowledge and ability. So I am not sure I would be so quick to say "coach drew is 'wrong' in this" just because you don't like his answer.
