The COOLEST Part of This is You get to HEAR the caliber of Music HE LISTENED TO while Creating These Masterpieces. And REMEMBER; These are ALL from Just One Year! 😯
I just have to say this art like beauty is in the eye of the beholder this does nothing for me I see nothing in it no disrespect to the brother I'm sure he had a deeper meaning in the art but if I would have just weird and be eclectic and wear some funky Soho Village clothes and just scribble Scrabble and look artistic I would be on that same level and that's just my opinion
The thing that hurts me about this great artist is that I arrived in New York and went to work for the Whitney museum of modern art as a volunteer the year he died and I never got to meet or experience the circle of people he rolled with. I'm the same age as him and I understand the expression on the faces of the characters adjusting to the environment we were forced to live in. His art was a product of his environment.
I am also the same age as Basquiat. For me, he is the defining artist of our generation. His work reflects the American "visual diaspora" we all grew up seeing through the mass media, and TV in particular. Basquiat identified as an "American," when asked about his Haitian/Puerto Rican heritage, and he was an astute observer of our times. I like your comment about the expressions on the faces of Basquiat's characters, contorted by ill affects of the near constant racial discrimination of the times.
@@thecompletebasquiat6872 I have attempted the conversation on Race the fact that all of Eddie Murphy’s children are considered black along with his white wife and Obama’s white mother Dave Chappelle‘s Filipino wife I don’t think we’re African-American I think we’re from an African-American culture cause Rick James and Tina Marie’s children were forced to live in a certain neighborhood with a certain atmosphere with a certain culture just like Josephine Baker’s white father and Etta James Italian father Moscone the famous pool player. The fact that people like Tiger Woods end relatives of Jimi Hendrix whose father was a full-blooded Indian and Bob Marley‘s father who is a white man don’t even talk about this stuff,I think it’s in our nature to fight and divide and I think we’re freaking happy on this planet the way things are it’s a hot button issue for me when I really should be talking about art thanks for your ear.If I’m wrong I really wanna know
@@marcusbrown198 I've been fortunate to live in racially mixed neighborhoods my whole life, and I agree it's more about culture than actual race. Certainly there are many black men who act "more white" than me, including my old grade school friend who is a physics professor at a prominent university. In the end, racial diversity is HUMANITY and we are all here to love and enjoy each other, and not to hate and fight. The last 50 years or so, the progress of integration has greatly enriched this nation, and in the end, we are all in this together, E Pluribus Unum. Back to Jean-Michel, whenever he was pressed about his Haitain/Puerto Rican roots, he was always to quick to say he was an "American." He even wore t-shirts that said "American," and he is the greatest American artist of my generation.
@@louhawk559 Yes, I'm a couple years younger than Basquiat, he is the best artist of our generation. I'm also, huge Bruce Lee fan. I met Brandon Lee in 1989 and told him how much his Dad meant to me as a role model. Brandon was only 18/19, very thoughtful and kind and interested in my comments about his Dad.
I feel hi s pain so deep in my ❤️😓..to see his beautiful 🎨 work is so real...when I look at his art I cry because I know what he's trying to say I endure a lot of pain and suffering and society they're always criticism and racism criticism sucks...❤️😥
The fact that most of the comments below are about the music says a lot. Dude was a straight up vandal, and was only "successful" because Warhol did his marketing in exchange for "favors".
Yuseff Lateef, "Trudy's Delight", a recording on Everest Records. The piece starts at 4:45 and plays thru the 5:54 time mentioned. Thanks for watching!
