The Goliath ist quite the force. We all know Darkglass and their sound and I'm all for paddling back the trend having these on every 2. heavy record. As a producer, I like to have a Sansamp style pedal and one modern clanky one in front, both with subtle drive settings and you will get absolute bliss. For all the guitarists here, maybe keep your guitar pedals and get a Boss LS-2 and make everything you have already have a Blend control. Fun time results guaranteed

The Goliath was my favorite. I agree the aggro sucked all the low end out, i felt the same way about their tone hammer pedal.

I love the agro, still my favourite bass distortion from a sound perspective. It should have a blend knob though. If someone wants touse the agro they should get a Boss LS-2 with it, makes a huge differrence! I use it in the helixes fx loop so I can set the blend as well. The darkglass pedals just somehow doesn't cut it for me.

AO is a full on preamp/DI box so it has that going for it over being just a drive box. The growl switch is a low shelving thing and the bite is an upper mid boost.bite switch is great if youre playing flat wounds or just dead rounds and need that extra “bite”. I literally just run a compressor into the AO and send it a stand alone power amp powering a svt 4x10. Love Darkglass

You should try the boss odb-3 a very underrated pedal you can buy super cheap a lot of people hate this pedal for being fizzy. But you can dial it in super good a lot of bands from the early to late 2000’s we’re using this pedal with a sans amp for there sound john liked this pedal so much he based it on his alpha omega pedal. I’ve been using the pedal since 2005 and always come back to it even with owning a number of darkglass and other drives

Green Russian Big Muff pi originally made for guitar but equally at home for bass. Big muff bass. Or Ashdown NM2, yep 2 separate distortions in one pedal or they can be merged or split the signals out to 2 separate amps

Goliath for the win, it's not even close. When you factor in tone-per-pound (or dollar), it's a crazy good pedal.

I know it adds a lot of redundancy, but if you add a Boss LS-2 to the Aguilar you can off-set the shitty low-end it has and get an absolutely monstrous sound. The Darkglass is definitely the best all-round though, especially if you buy one with eq. I wonder how an Alpha Omega would sound with a Boss LS-2, the globe would most likely explode.

AO is my favourite. The Girth and Grit switches are super useful. With a compressor in front of it (Dark Glass Hyperluminal is SYM mode is ace, Mooer Yellow Comp is good too). I liked the sound of the Goliath. Earthquaker Plumes/Blues is pretty good too. The Joyo 'clone' of the B3K might be the best cheap option around. Though I like the TC Electronic Magus Pro triple Rat (in Turbo or Fat mode).
