Great board. The only complaint I have with the Sansamp is you can't turn off the speaker emulation, so it doesn't work for everything. But it is pretty cool.

I go back and forth between oc-2 before/after my boss cs-3. Can’t decide what i like more or less. Nice rig man!

Big muff and super octave here too! Ehx bass preacher, boss ns2 and boss phaser. Need to replace phaser with chorus and add equalizer and maybe wah. Nice setup you have there!

Hey bud! Enjoyed the vid. Just thought I’d say that I’ve been using the MXR bass compressor for a few years, and it’s a great pedal, but I recently ‘upgraded’ to the Empress Bass Compressor, and in my opinion it’s quite a substantial improvement! If you get a chance to try one out I’d recommend you do so. One other pedal to try is the Blackstone Mosfet Overdrive pedal. It just adds the perfect (for me) amount of grind I was always looking for. It’s no fuzz pedal for sure, but I realise now after trying so many fuzzes, that’s not the right path for me. I put it through a Wetter box to allow me to blend between clean/distortion, but tbh, if I’m playing rock, I can dial it in and it just be an ‘always on’ effect. Love it. Great pedal, easy to use, maintains the bass very well, and I love the knobless pot design! No chance of knocking it accidentally.

Greetings Rob, great presentation of your bass pedal board. I recently purchased a SansAmp bass DI and have it at the end of the signal chain much like yours. However it produces some noise or hiss sound. I noticed yours does not. Is there something else I may be missing in the process? I also moved it around the board at different locations and front signal chain and still get noise. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi! Excess noise is usually down to one of a few things in my experience. It can be a bad earth somewhere, which is when you have more than one connection to ground. It tends to give off the famous 50hz hum. Solving that is usually down to checking your pedals to find the culprit and ensuring it’s suitably shielded. The kind of power supply you are operating has a massive impact too. Cheaper Chinese knockoffs are great for the wallet but not so great audio-wise. I personally use a one-spot but there are other suppliers on the market that do an equally good job of providing nice, quiet power to your board. Another factor with noise is the patch cables you’re using. Again it’s down to how much you spend, the cheaper kinds are again very nice financially but are usually poorly made and can potentially result in very noisy, hissy signal paths. I bought slightly nicer patch cables to make sure this didn’t happen. I’m not real expert, these are just things I’ve dealt with in my own personal experience. People qualified in electrics will have a much better understanding of why these things happen.

I have a similar problem when I use an active bass, but the problem goes away with a passive bass.

Loving the board. What are you using for patch leads ?

Thank you! To be honest I’m not entirely sure anymore. I bought them years ago, they were a cheap eBay purchase I think. A big pack of 10 or something. I think I lucked out because they’re pretty well shielded and I’ve never suffered with noise or bad shielding or anything. I’m fully subscribed to the school of “buy cheap, buy twice” but at that time money was especially tight.

Thanks for the nice video. One question though, why put the compressor at the beginning? I would expect it on the end.
@harshlanguage
@harshlanguage 2 года назад
To be honest it was mostly a case of experimenting and playing around until I found something I liked. I did a bit of reading up on compression and I’ve seen articles suggesting both first and last in the chain. There may be a “technically correct” answer but I’ve found that this particular way, works for me personally. What are your thoughts? Does compressing last work better for you?

@@harshlanguage thanks for your response 😀I had the same and read both options. I dont have that many pedals but for me In the beginning of the chain works best too.

Greetings. I have a question about the M87 Compressor. Is it normal that the LED maxes out when you power the pedal? It doesn't stay on like that after that but only when turning on the power supply. No other issues whatsoever.
@robgreen1818
@robgreen1818 Год назад
Oh, is your LED getting brighter when you plug your power supply in? That’s not something that happens with mine, could be a surge issue perhaps or maybe an issue inside the pedal with shielding?? If it affects the performance of the pedal I’d consider getting in touch with the manufacturer.
@Zip2461996

@@robgreen1818 it lights up when turning the power supply on with the pedal deactivated, and then it instantly goes down. No other issues.

Why a delay on bass? One of These Days Pink Floyd 😀
@harshlanguage
@harshlanguage 2 года назад
I think delay pedals can be really interesting on bass pedal boards. As I mentioned in the video, I’ve done my fair share of session work and it’s come in handy on a few occasions through that. It gets used pretty extensively in the current HL set too since we are a three-piece and it can really help fill a space, musically. Also I’m a big Tool fan so having a delay pedal speaks for itself. That said I’m fairly sure Justin Chancellor doesn’t use a Mirror Image, it just looked cool in the shop window.
