Seeing those TFO rods was upsetting. I work for BP in their fly fishing dept, and we’ve been wondering what happened to the TFO rods as we’re not seeing any replacements. That rod, in my opinion, is better than SAGE, Orvis and St Croix. Temple Fork makes a tremendously good rod and with a lifetime warranty. I don’t know what corporate is thinking… I’m getting customers everyday that gripe about BP brand rods becoming the only brand in store while all the Daiwa, TFO, Shimano, Loomis, etc., are going away. They don’t like the Chinese knockoffs, and I can’t fault them for that.
Gary Loomis and the late Lefty Greh said that B.J. Im, TFO’s engineer, was the most skilled engineer they’ve ever worked with. They aren’t the lightest rods, but they’re made by hand and have undergone the strictest oversight and testing. Their defect rate is WELL BELOW industry standards. TFO rods will perform and last a long, long time. I have no idea what BP merchandisers are doing by discontinuing one of the best rods in the industry. It may be because TFO sells direct to customers.
