A very enjoyable couple of hours showing how easy it can be to catch bass! The Links: Urfes: christchurchanglingcentre.co.... Circle hooks: christchurchanglingcentre.co.... Fluorocarbons: christchurchanglingcentre.co....
Mate I’ve only just come across you and this video and you have such a great energy about you… you’re a pleasure to watch with lots of great info and camera skills…. Very nicely done 👍🏼
Tom what a cracking video you definitely need to make more why is it I’ve only come across your channel now I’ve learned so much thank you for the grate content
Watching your videos again, Sir, and your genuine smile and enthusiasm giving Megan a Happy Birthday "shout out" is a true reflection of your personality - a joyous and infectious love of fishing, sharing your knowledge with others, as well as for the enjoyment it brings you teaching other people. You Sir are a true gentle(wo)man! ✌️
I visited your shop today, great service by Lawrence. I haven’t been fishing for over 25 years, Adrenalin was flowing just purchasing a starter kit. I feel I have the Buzz back, I know I still have a lot to learn, but Tom makes it look easy.....So Excited I need a Rod Stand, will be my next purchase. Kind Regards Damon.
Hi Tom I have tried for a bass in the creak going to the wild fowl pond where there are dozens of bass sitting in the current without success I might add it would have been a great scrap on lrf gear which I got from loni's in new milton when we were last down look forward to popping into the shop when we are down at the end of may great videos Tom
Another superb vid the oh Thomas moment made me laugh lol we’ve all been there 😅 just bought a second hand eclisseo month or two ago bought it broken but allner did a superb job splicing a tip in lovley light rod
Yes! Further to previous comment went to this side as too weedy on other side, like everywhere seemed to be last week! 10’ spinning rod, running ledger, 30g lead and size4 wormer hook..oh and Christchurch angling ragworm Thought I needed to upgrade rig, so not concentrating… Crash! Tripod and rod hit ground and a large splash 15m out. Couple of minutes later an incredible 61cm bass a new PB. Quiet often take for the table but this was amazing to see swimming away afterwards. Thanks Tom
Great vid tom. We fished the deep hole this morning for bream had none but had loads of big mackerel and a couple of small bass. On the way back we fished maybe 300m to the right from where you were fishing in the vid and my mate had a 1 and 3 quarter pound black bream. Amazing 👍
Great result mate, that's a nice size bream! I wonder, was it a gilthead bream rather than a black bream? You tend to find more gilts in the estuary and blacks in the main sea side.
The area you were fishing has changed since I last walked/fished in the late 60's. Great video. Brought back good memories. The fish my friend caught were 2oz everyone of them. Lol.
There's plenty of 2oz ones in there still! Take some small worm baits and smaller hooks and you can have fun if you have kids (whilst you're waiting for the big one of course 😉)
We use to fish probably somewhere the other side of the yachts that can be seen in your video, we called it "rat island" and a small spot that was called "telegraph lake" which was alot closer to Hurst castle. Seems so long ago.
I suppose someone saw rats there. I never caught anything there. Maybe with the knowledge I have acrewed over the years I would do a little better know.
That really does look fun Tom. Of all your videos, this and the Golden Gray Mullet spinning interest me the most as we don't have either here in the South Island of NZ.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 we have Yellow Eyed Mullet down here Tom - smaller than your Golden Gray Mullet - and we fish for them with small shellfish baits. There are bigger Mullet up on the North Island but I've never heard of your method being used.
Brilliant video. I normally look a bit further up from your position, but first noticed walking along bank on top with Polaroid sunglasses. Some very sizeable fish cruising around fanning their tails to stir up bottom. I haven’t gone and specifically targeted that side always geared up for main sea facing side. Must concentrate on this side this year!…. Always wondered bass or mullet?? Maybe try a bombard with Mepp ??
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 I bet! Looks like a fantastic place to fly fish! Can you divulge the exact location please? Ta! I live in Derby but I have to go to Southampton next month for a weekend. I might take the fly rods!
@@buzzfl1ght it'll be great for fly fishing too, there's mullet and bass in there. If you put Hurst Castle into Google maps you'll see the shingle bank that leads up to the castle, you'll see the back water there. Just avoid low tide as it empties out.
Do you use a wide angle lens for these vids or just a 'fish eye' I only ask because when you are landing the fish you seem to be looking away from where it is coming from and when it appears it's nowhere near where you are looking ,may be just a perspective thing , maybe just me and my aging eyes !! Great video , so glad I started watching and subscribing to it.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 I'm tired and I want to go home. I'm tired and I want to go to bed I had a little drink about an hour ago and it's gone straight to my head......lol
No, just a single circle hook here. The key is presentation, missed bites could mean masked hooks so your bait perhaps too big for the hook size. Snoods length, weight size and shape, etc can all result in missed bites. Always worth changing things until you find a winning formula.
Best fishing song ever was by the Goodies... Oh oh oh how I wish, I could buy myself a pet flat fish..But no one wants to sell their soul, a flounder or halibut would be very pally but, you hardly ever see a skate, that hasn't been mashed on a plate, soo I'm ironing my gold fish, ironing my goldfish, big steam iron on his face, keep on trying til I get some plaice 😂
Gotta say I'm new to your channel but absolutely love the content you are putting out, interesting funny and incredibly informative, especially as I fish locations like southbourne and the surrounding area from time to time.... Already learnt loads of new stuff from you.... Keep it up mate 👍
Perfect setting, excellent presentation, result !!! Well done Tom ...shame about singing:)....stick to daytime job . How's about "Just fishin" Trace Atkins country :( (?)
@@piscatorialpete3530 thank you Pete, that means a lot. I've often wondered about scripting the videos as I know I often get tongue tied and waffle too much, but figured this would result in a less natural delivery.
wtf is 0.40 line can you not ay aswell for the old school anglers the lb rating of the line too because different manufacturers make lines the same diameter with different lb ratings .... just an observation
Hello! Sorry I missed this comment! I do strongly believe in teaching people the correct way, so will only talk on diameter not breaking strain as this is the only figure that really matters, and is also the only figure that is accurate. As you say different manufacturers claim different breaking strains on lines, so this can be very misleading. If I told you to use a 20lb line (which is what we used to call 0.40 line) but chose an Italian or Spanish line you could end up with a line of around 0.30 diameter which would simply not be right for this situation and would probably lead to lost fish and tangles. 0.40 is 0.40 regardless of manufacturer! I hope that helps explain it. Sadly we've been so poorly served in this country by the tackle trade for so long with regards to selling line it's hard to change our ways, but stick with it, it's worth it in the long run.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428I've been a carp angler for over 40 years so consider myself very much old school, must say im with you on this, diameter all the way, when fishing for big carp on snaggy weedy venues breaking strain is far to unreliable. Nice video.
Great video, but you don't have to keep Talking all the time, its just as enjoyable, without the need for you to Waffle & feel the need to fill the silence.
