@@NeoFighterX sure, but the arrangements sometimes aren't as good as I think theirs have been. So they/whatever arranger they have been working with has been doing a particularly good job, imo. And their performance and delivery adapts well to the new styles. They really remake the song in a way that is just as beautiful if not more.
The album version is undoubtedly a party bop and it’s a song you sing to a crowded room when you want to forget. This is something completely new. It’s delicate and it’s almost like a personal conversation before two friends/loved ones. It’s one person smiling at the other and wanting to just have the night with them without having to think about anything else. It’s between playful and pleading and it is amazing.
@@Yaco_Taco yes, the descent version from oph4 was gorgeous and melancholy and almost introspective. i was so shocked hearing the album version after that one 😂
I love how comfortable Dan looks in this. As much as I wanted to hug the painfully shy old Dan, it's beautiful to see him coming into his own and looking less tortured during performances.
I'm not sure why, but this just makes me think about how beautiful people are. We have the capacity to do such harm, but we can also cooperate and create. It's incredible.
I heard this version of Million Pieces before the original version and only the orchestral one makes me very emotional. It has such amount of positive energy.♥️
I love how much emotion comes through all of the but watching Dan is amazing he just absolutely feels everything its breathtaking to see that admiration for music and what they create together xx
I absolutely adore every collab they do with the London Symphony Orchestra. I have yet to see a single one I didn't like, Bastille is seriously underrated.
This song and this version just leaves me speechless. I love the ‘cinematography’ of this video, how the camera was moving from person to person. It’s gives me a realization that although we are unique beings, we can harmoniously unite to create anything great in this world.
Yo brother, chill out you're awesome bad days happens, everything will be alright. Keep smiling and keep rocking on brother. Theres always light on the the other side. 💯
This version of “Million Pieces” fills me with joy. I love seeing this collection of people collaborating on such a beautiful piece. Thank you, Bastille!
and it looks like Dan is absolutely enjoying himself this makes me so happy. like can you IMAGINE writing your own song and people make it sound like THIS?? I'd sob
Dan , A quiet , shy musical genius . Smiling while he delivers his amazing gift to us , He knows he has absolutely delivered his best . I much prefer watching these live performances . The mimed video versions lack the extraordinary power of this performance . Bastille fan forever ❤️ ( 65 years of age )
Honestly anyone would love an album like that. The reason people don’t do it is because how hard it is, just look at all the instruments being used and the timing of when to use them. If they knew that an orchestrated album would get them top 5 on billboard and a ton of sales, they would do it. Too bad they aren’t recognized enough and too bad rap has been covering the top charts for 10 years now. Seriously, people need to stop listening to the same old “fuck bitches pop xans and get money” shit and branch out into music like bastille. I’m sick of it.
WHEN YOU HEAR A CRAP COMPOSITION YOU DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. IT JUST REGISTERS AS CRAP FROM THE FIRST NOTE THAT'S BEEN PLAYED OUT FOR DECADES. BUT WHEN YOU HEAR A COMPOSITION AND DON'T REGISTER A NEGATIVE THOUGHT AND IT MAKES YOU PAUSE TO ABSORB IT WHILE GETTING YOUR HEAD AROUND IT ARE THESE KINDS OF COMPOSITIONS THAT SWEEP YOU UP AND TAKE YOU FOR A SHORT RIDE OUT OF YOUR REALITY FOR A FEW MINUTES THAT ARE GOLDEN. NOW WHERE'S THAT REPEAT BUTTON?!?!?.....
Honestly I clicked the video and didn't expect that it would be this great, it captured me from the beginning with its melody. It was so satisfying to see all of these people enjoying while playing and singing together , like they're all have melted in this song and brought us in their world. So amazing.
This version of "Million Pieces" is incredible. First off, the different layers of instruments and vocals in the first minute takes you through different emotional levels of joy and depression (for lack of better term). Dan, the xylophones (I think), and strings made the first thirty seconds feel stripped back and heartbreaking, just as if you were told the worst fucking news of your life. Then, it gets increasingly louder with the brass (we got a tuba y'all!), guitar, drums, and backing vocals as if you're tuning out that news and saying, "Yeah, yeah fuck off I'll get back at you later." which is literally the meaning of "Million Pieces" I think. Everyone was amazing here: the choir, orchestra, brass, percussion, the band, etc. I give them all the damn credit for this beautiful version. I ain't no musical genius and had to rewatch this many times in order to figure out what the hell I was listening to, but I hope this conveys my reaction and whatever I picked up from observing. TLDR: Bastille knows to make a song and punch it right back into your face with every song.
Seeing Dan so incredibly happy makes my heart so full. I absolutely adore this, and every shot of Dan smiling makes me infinitely happy. This video made me cry with joy.
So we have: - the OPH4 version which gives the most melancholic, poignant and deep meaning to the lyrics; - the Doom Days version which is an electronic party bop, so well-produced that it could easily surpass any Chainsmokers production; - the orchestrated version which is soft and delicate and yet cheerful and uplifting? Can you believe Bastille invented versatility?
This is a freakin modern day masterpiece! The clash of pure talent from every soul in the room is felt through my ears right down to touch my soul. You don’t find that very often.
While it's exactly that Vibrato-technique I find very special. He seems to be doing it by nodding his head and I haven't witnessed people doing that, while it's pretty clever. Whitney Houston or Brendon Urie do it by shaking with their jaw a little, but is something new
Technically true vibrato comes from proper breath support which allows the vocal chords to resonate freely, his technique is a bit manufactured and not the "proper" way, but Dan's still amazing
I love that they continue doing these versions. Proves it really is about the music. I can only imagine how mind blowing these experiences are for them
The sound engineer has done amazing job, with an already amazing song & Performers.I close m eyes, and can hear where every tone comes from... and still makes me feel like i am in the middle of it all. and then it stars spinning.. incredible.
sometime in the future - hopefully we have a future - people will listen to this along with other great historical music and wonder "what was it like back then" and we're here, at the beginning, and it's that great right now.
I’ve always really liked his voice, but how little music do you have to listen to, that he’s the only one you know of who has his range? It’s not even that impressive tbh. Not trying to be rude, but honestly…
Fabulous Killjoy I’ve known about Dan since before he was famous and I am super attached to him and the band and to me he definately has one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard it literally can soothe me. So i mean everyone has their own opinion.
Brendon Urie (Panic! At the Disco) and Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) are incredible vocalists (my two other male favs)! But Dan Smith always leaves me stunned every time he sings as well!! His voice leaves me speechless with its beauty. I can’t never get enough of it 😍
Maddie Evette Dan Smith, and Sam Smith need to do a duet lol, But seriously, I cant get over how he writes these amazing songs and then every single time he preforms them its different, or album quality, he truely is special and will always be my favorite voice.
@@harshmalik9878 haha, thank you! Nice to come back to this comment and see the appreciation! In case you’re wondering, my mum is still listening to Bastille and she still thinks he has the best voice in the industry, and I AGREE!
This is one of those rare performances that amplifies how you're feeling. If it's an emotional time, it makes you feel even more emotional and if you're happy it makes you burst with joy 😍
Bad Decisions Bad Blood Bad Guy (including Bad Romance and Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood) Bad for the name not for the nature - literally adore everything that comes out of Dan Smith’s mouth
Of someone ask me "why are you so 'obsessed' with Bastille?" I will show them the original version and then this new one of million pieces for them to understand why do I love this band this much ❤️ its absolutely beautiful how you can transform an amazing song in another stunning version 😊 I stan the right guys! Congrats Bastille Love you Xx
I love Million Pieces and I would listen to it in a million versions. This one is magical! I'm so lucky to call Bastille my favourite band. Thank you Dan, Chris, Will and Kyle!!!
I never thought I'd be able to choose just one, but I think this is actually my favourite song in the whole world. The raw sound of their stunning voices, and the beauty of the orchestra .. I get goosebumps every single time I hear this. Dan in particular .. that VOICE!! Literally no words. Not to mention his little dance, and gorgeous smiles that escape now and again whilst singing - I couldn't love him more if I tried x And can we please all just take a minute to appreciate how absolutely PERFECT Kyle is?! I mean, God .. be still my beating heart!
I'm a new fan. I've just discovered them. Where have I been that I've never heard of them until now? I've been listening to all their songs while being shut off from the world! Now I'm obsessed!!
Amazing version of this song. I thought the regular version was special because it played on my heart strings, but all kind of strings seem to work beautifully. 💗
This song he's so into chilling throughput my head to my toes watching him feel in the moment passionate given wonderful gift thank you.... Million pieces
