[Verse 1] Staring down the barrel of a hundred tons (We're on the way) It might be getting older, but the night's still young (We're on the way) We never, never give up on the lost boy life (We're on the way) So here we are, escaping from the world outside (We're on the way) [Pre-Chorus] Oh, what would your mother say if she could see what we're doing now? Oh, what would your mother say if she could hear what we talk about? [Chorus] The waves are crashing down on you and me again, again, again The waves are crashing down on you and me I'll see you on the other side Get carried, get carried away, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh Caught up in, caught up in the waves [Verse 2] Suddenly we're fallin' through the twilight zone (We're on the way) Watch the party playing out in slow motion (We're on the way) So tie a ribbon 'round my arm and throw me in (We're on the way) Is it an apocalypse or nihilism on your lips? We sink or swim (We're on the way) [Pre-Chorus] Oh, what would your mother say if she could see what we're doing now? Oh, what would your mother say if she could hear what we talk about? (Hey) [Chorus] The waves are crashing down on you and me again, again, again The waves are crashing down on you and me I'll see you on the other side Get carried, get carried away, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh Caught up in, caught up in the waves [Bridge] The air hit me on the way out Did it make me more sober or make me more drunk? I couldn't quite remember the vision of you and of me The air hit me on the way out Did it make me more sober or make me more drunk? I couldn't quite remember the vision of you and of me [Chorus] The waves are crashing down on you and me again, again, again The waves are crashing down on you and me I'll see you on the other side Get carried, get carried away, oh-oh-oh-oh Caught up in, caught up in the waves [Outro] They're crashing down, they're crashing down, oh They're crashing down on you and me I'll see you on the other side
This album only got better with age, perfect feeling for the end of an era. Thanks for the bits of escapism, Bastille. Means the world to me and a lot of others.
The lyrics its prefection but somehow my favorite part is The air hit me on the way out Did it make me more sober or make me more drunk? I couldn't quite remember the vision of you and of me. I foind myself singing that part all the time
@@Yourdad1412 I know you're partly joking but: Quality of the song doesn't affect whether or not it music, art or is a concept or idea Blurryface and Trench were both concept albums Trench is actually really good and you should listen to it

Does anybody feel like this relates to Peter Pan? Especially this line: "We never never give up on a lost boy life". I visualize it as though Peter Pan, and the boys are at the beach letting go one of their own to experience life outside Neverland. Explains why they all don't have a clear vision of themselves or the person they're letting go of, because it's all happening in slow-motion and it all feels very sudden to them. Moreover, I think it's very painful for them to lose a member of their family which infact taints their memory of that particular day/night. I also feel as though the line "I'll see you on the other side" just refers to Captain Hook before he was Hook aka Peter, who wanted to venture outside Neverland and experience the real world. The real world turned him into an antagonist against himself aka Young Peter from Neverland. This also explains the nihilism or apocalypse on his lips. In the end, I think the same events recur again and again.
@@salmanal-sammak419 i've listened to 1/2 playlist so far(15 songs) and only 3-5 were actually good songs i would choose to listen to rest were shit. fifa 19 13 15 are known for amazing soundtracks
It is supposedly aftermath of "Wild World". In my opinion, it's just about two people out of which one is mourning about something as seen in later tracks. I might be wrong about the theme tho.
Are you kidding me? The voice of that girl gives originality to the song. That's why I love Bastille, because they always creates rarely sensational content and I like that. 💕
As much as I love bastille when everything they release sounds like it could be part of the same song there’s no point in buying the album, nearly every song they release sounds pretty much the same, if this song was on their last album no one would think twice,
