What big ears you have, my dear. This tiny fox has huge ears that help it to pick out its next meal. What will it be this time - lizard, scorpion, or some tasty bug? But no amount of super-powers can save a potential suitor from the wrath of a domineering father; looks like a little persistence is in order.

Dad has to threaten and try to scare him away in order to make sure the male is devoted to the female and thus will help take care of the child. People have the same instinct. :)

I have doubts about this, the observer may have misinterpreted the behavior of the foxes. It's presumptuous and of dubious validity and credibility to interpret animal behaviors in terms of human social customs.

@Feanorielle 1.I didn't "started" it--- you were the one who replied to my comment.2."You dissagree with me because you're stupid, go read a book." That is far from what I were thinking when recommended you that book. 3. If you are not interested in my topic, why replied in the first place. 4. It turns out that you mistook my thesis in the original post for one you are interested in, so you replied. And then you misunderstood my recommendation as supercillious,and "fought back" gratuitously.

@Feanorielle You seem to be using perspectives of your social environment to judge foxes yourself---where did you get the conclusion that younger male foxes are of "lower status", or better, that in the interaction between foxes, there is such concept that merits being addressed as "status" at all?

@poklzhou 1.In other words, I never considered you an "opponent", nor others who replied to my comments on this video. If this brings you joy, I don't spoil it; still I want to post this to clarify my incentives for posting comments, and how that is not similar to yours. 2,.You probably read that book, but you still don't seem to be on the same track I am in posts above 3. I never discussed about bat-eared foxes, I talked about HOW THEY PRESENT THEIR interpretation of animal bahaviors
@poklzhou
@poklzhou 12 лет назад
@Feanorielle I am not incetivized to argue further.Instead, I'll recommend you a sociology classic: "The social construction of reality", upon finishing reading that ,you will understand what I am saying

@arfanullah Yeah, but who knows the real incentive for the father fox in the video to "protect" his daughter, after all , none of us has been a fox? One can only interpret why, and people tend to explain the unknown in terms of what they are familiar with. Yet the problem is, the video presents such interpretation as if it is the truth, if I am not mistaken, this is not the way science goes, but the way religions do.

@poklzhou allot of animals behave like humans is different ways... for example the ant social structure is similar to ours and some bird spices like penguins stay with one partner sharing responsibilities till they basically they die and this story shouldn't be far fetched.

@bistnenutte Yea he uses all these extra unnecessary words like "this is where the opera begins...." wtf. But if he didn't use all the extra words to say he wouldn't really be saying very much. I could pretty much type everything he said in about 30 words if i missed out the pointless stuff he said.
