Had these for about 30 days and the sole came unglued at the ball of the foot on both boots. Bates needs to do some tweaking. Heel cup is good and supportive. The boot is pretty light. Not enough cushion for all day standing/ walking. Tread is super aggressive good for walking on grass, loose surface. Not ideal for cement or asphalt. The fact that the boot came unglued in 30 days I’m reluctant to try another Bates boot.

They’re actually my favorite pair of boots I wore while working corrections. I’ve had 5.11, Rockies, and others. Bates and Merrill’s were the best boot brands, very comfortable for me. I have wide feet and they work great.

Of course bates has a wide option but I also get half a size bigger. So size 12.

Don't buy these boots. They slide on wet surfaces and they really are not waterproof.

I'm in north Georgia and work in law enforcement. Love these boots. Most comfortable boots I have ever worn. My issue with them is because I'm in water, woods, pavement daily the seams started to wear only 4 months in. Which means after 4 months they were no longer water proof. I wish I could find a light weight waterproof tactical boot that could take Georgia heat and all terrains such as swampy mud to climbing the side of a hill to chasing someone down on a foot chase . If someone knows of one please let me know.

Jon Byers Altai Boots hands down! Check them out they survived Michigan winters and wet springs and falls for 2 years now.

Hey Jon, great that I ran into your comment. What do you reckon is the temperature rating on these boots. Can they survive -20 degrees Celsius winters? Their construction is tough, but I wouldn't want ice and snow to be the deal breaker here.

These are more for light summer boots. Not winter boots. I’d go with 5.11 insulated boots

I have owned the velocitor boots for a year now. They are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Lightweight and extremely breathable. But, they stopped being waterproof after 4 months of wear. For my job I'm in all weather conditions daily. I'm going to try to bates gx8. A lot of people say they are just as comfortable as the velocitor and are gore Tex.

Bates discontinued their best boot-Bates Delta 9 with iCS technology, Vibram Mutant rubber outsole, GORE-TEX Waterproof Side Zip. after about 5 years of use, i need to replace them but can not find my size

Never a fan of side zip boots they tend to split and come apart after extreme ops.

bought a pair and after a year they came apart at the seam in the heel. Bates replaced them and the 2nd pair came apart in the same place. NO MORE!

Great video but in my experience with very similar boots, they're terrible. I'm just not a big fan of PLASTIC "Tactical" boots. They're uncomfortable after a few hours and not very durrable, they wear out after a short time of hard use.

The durability and price suck. But most comfortable and light boots I've owned, if they just lowered the damn price I'd buy again, not spending $160 for boots that last about 6 months.

Side Zip Sucks..... Never buy a boot with zippers. Those are for people who don't actual use their boots for LE work. If my lace breaks I cant get a new one. If the zipper breaks you're screwed.

I'm genuinely curious about this, not just trying to be a debbie downer or anything, but who is this marketed towards? Would most military and police etc be issued tactical boots? Maybe security people? I hear tactical a lot, and it seems like a lot of the time it's something black and marketed towards people that the closest they'll ever come to combat is Call of Duty.

I sell them mostly to private and club security guard's who need a responsive boot. EMT guys also. plus I can't forget the 18-22-year-old's dressed in black.

I am really torn between these Velocitors, the Tactical Research zip/waterproof Khyber, and 5.11 Evo 6" zip/waterproof. I am a Police Officer and these will be my spring-fall boot. Running, creeks, etc...What would be your choice? Thanks.

I would like to ask your opinion, I am looking at getting a new pair of lighter weight tactical boots, and have been looking at two different pairs. The BATES 8" VELOCITOR ZIP BOOT or the UNDER ARMOR VALSETZ RTS 7" BOOTS. I work for a large University and I am on 12 hour shifts and patrol on different types of surfaces, and I am a big guy 6'5ft and 270lbs hoping to hear from you.

I bought a pair of bates once and they were incredibly comfortable. Then they disintegrated on me so bad it was actually comical. Done with them.

Ok fair enough but when u stsrt emailing you then are helping ome person not many! Your show guys quite like it just seems a few videos i have seen the chat seems quite and half replied thought u lot was giving up on people but i cant see why public chat would be so bad its quite nice to have this interaction with people like ur selves. over the past six years Bates has become the most horrible boot company in the world they refused to honor their warranty , they stopped making the right sizes available and their boots fall apart within a year of use in a prison environment. Ive used their boots since 1982 and it makes me sick to see what they have become over the last few years. They need to go back to making wide widths available because we dont all have Chinese feet!!
