BATES Family Event + RYKER’S FIRST TIME EATING🥰 

You know what I love about all the Bates videos? There is no pettiness (which seems like society is thriving on right now), no foul language, everyone lives Christlike. Doesn't mean everyone is perfect and that occasionally there isn't a disagreement but everyone seems to genuinely love each other. Mom and dad did a great job of raising 19 children. I couldn't do it.

Your parents are so blessed to be able to have most if not all of the kids and grandkids visiting and seeing eachother often, so special ❤

I started my twins with vegetables so they didn’t get used to sweet taste first.. Ryker is so adorable! ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻

I would recommend putting a few spoonfuls in a separate bowl for him to eat so you can save the rest for another meal.

Ryker is the cutest ever. You are both such awesome parents. Seeing Trace always so involved with all he can be as a father makes me see so much of his dad in him. Gil is such a beautiful example of how to be a great and fair dad. Ryker always looks at Trace in awe. That expression is priceless. Lydia is a great example of how to love your child and your husband at the same. The two of you awesome parents. Never doubt yourselves. There's always going to be questions you ask yourselves as parents. With God on your sides, you've got this!

When l had my daughter everyone had something to say. They all knew what was best. There were opinions on everything from holding her to the amount of hours she should sleep. It went on for years. Lydia and Trace you do whatever you want. You cant go wrong. I am sure you did the reseach on the baby food. There is nothing wrong with banana. You have done a great job with Ryker. That is one handsome baby with a pleasnt disposition. ❤

Only suggestion. Take the food out of the container and feed him from that. This way you don’t contaminate the entire batch and have to throw it all out… such a cutie ❤️

Ryker is just adorable. You brought back some great memories for me with this vlog. In 1980 my parents bought the whole family bowling balls for Christmas and every Sunday was bowling day. My parents have passed away, but what a smile you brought to my face. Yes, Trace, family is everything. Life goes quickly. Keep making those beautiful memories. And thank you for taking us along.❤

So simple to make baby food. Freeze it in ice cube trays and then just pop one out when you need it😊

This little boy is so adorable and seems to be quite advanced too. I think he's probably exceptionally bright and it seems like he has excellent parents too. I would imagine that having the big support network that the Bates family members provide is most likely aiding in his development too. What a blessed little guy! ♥

My kids first food was banana flakes that were mixed with nursery water. My grandkids were started on avocado. The faces they made with those first bites were hilarious. Ryker did a good job for his first time.

Lydia you are a Wonderful, Loving and might I add a beautiful mommy. I've noticed a lot of comments on how you fed Your and Trace's baby. No matter what you do, someone is going to critique your parenting. Take each comment with a grain of salt and use what you wish and disregard the rest. The point I'm trying to make is don't allow well-meaning comments to make you sad or get you discouraged. Your baby is a healthy, happy and vibrant little boy so you must be doing something right. You do whatever is right for your family.

I had my kids in the 60’s and 70’s so I know things have changed. We started them out on rice cereal and introduced one food at a time to watch for allergies. Tips about not feeding from original container are correct. If you get saliva in the original container, it contaminates. Starts digesting the food. Sounds weird but think about it.

You can put cling wrap on the tray and when he is done just pull it up easy clean up!!!😀

Bland cereals first and veggies is what was recommended to me. I think it's a good idea so they get used to the greens (hopefully) first. I did bland cereal then cereal with veggies then plain veggies. I found peas were the most liked green. Then there's the orange ones and I found sweet potato was the favorite with all mine. There's the introducing one a week which I think you mentioned (watch for allergies).

My kiddos are 34 and 37. I NEVER bought baby food for them. Made my own and froze portions in old-fashioned ice cube trays. Easy, fast and I never had to worry about preservatives or unnecessary old-fashioned ingredients. Much cheaper as well.

Time flies with little ones. I love seeing Maui hanging out on his cat tree back there, totally at ease to be around whatever is going on. I also love that the Bates family loves each other and makes an effort to do things together.

Ryker did great with his first food! He seems so alert and curious!

I take the food out of the container that I am going to try so not to put the spoon in and out of all of the food as you are, putting slobber basically into all of the food. Also, when it comes to the cereal, it’s better to start with rice then it is to start with the oats as they settle easier on the baby stomach.

I can’t believe he’s so big. And now he’s eating baby food like a champ and liking it so far. There’s nothing that he can’t do. 🎉

Ryker is just precious. They used to go from milk to cereal that just dissolved into a thick liquid. Then baby food later. I guess the first food baby food is starting them with a spoon earlier. Just a suggestion with babies starting food. Only I offer 1 new food per week. If there is an allergy to something you will be able to narrow down quickly what it is. He is growing so fast

Tips from a mom that you can take or toss! 1. Put a portion of the baby food in another container so you can put the extras in the fridge for later. 2. Try veggies before fruit. 3. Avocado (watered down at first) is a great brain food!
