BATHROOM FAN INSTALLATION/ Installing an extractor fan - Renovation update
In this video I explain a bit about the bathroom fan system we are installing before it gets tucked away in the loft.
We have gone for a powerful bathroom extractor fan and chosen the Manrose extraction system - it might seem a bit belt and braces but I explain why we thought it was worth upgrading from a standard wall-mounted fan.
If you're wondering what type of bathroom fan do I need or whether bathroom fans need to be vented or you're just after a bit of bathroom extractor fans advice - hopefully this video will help.
No one wants a mouldy bathroom after all!

This has to be one of the best videos to detail the advantages of the superior air flow that I have seen. Fantastic work.

Concise and clear. I like that you provided the numbers for the room/fan/air flow. Just a suggestion, to avoid moisture pooling in the extractor pipework in the loft replace the pipework with insulated pipework. It's dearer but helps get all that moist air out before it condenses in the pipework especially during the winter.

I have bought the same fan, trying to decide whether I should install a 'backdraft' baffle in the ducting?

How much noise does the new fan produce? Also is that thing overkill? Would it not be also moving all the warm air in the house outside increasing your heating bills?

Hi Georgina, Love the bathroom tiles, very modern and practical - I think the big tiles are great and are time saving compared to using the standard small square ones. Interesting to see how you are going to tackle condensation - at first I thought that you had taken up the Accordion and we may have some intro music, or had started to install an old fashioned hand dryer, then I thought no you must be screen testing for Dr Who 😀 Anyway, I think the system you are using is very sensible, as areas like bathrooms and the kitchen do suffer from condensation, and this looks as though it will do the job perfectly - belt and braces is my Moto, as you don't want to have to re-work anything. Nice job!

Ha ha - thanks Mark. Not sure we would have the patience for small tiles!

Screwfix £90, Amazon £57, eBay £48 (all new) (eBay seller sold 1500+ ). Well worth looking around for the best price. Although it’s unusual for screwfix to be that far out on price.

Hi. What reading do you get ft/min on the fan grill as trying to see if mine is working optimally. What I have noticed is the grill reduces performance quite a lot

I designed a new air duct fan, which can be connected to the network via WiFi, controlled by a mobile phone, and set rules on the mobile phone, which is very easy to understand. In addition, the device has a recording function, which can record temperature history records, and store startup and shutdown history records. I want to invite you to review it. Take a 1-minute video and the sample is free. Welcome to contact me directly.

Do you need one per room or one for both rooms?
@GeorginaBisbyDIY
@GeorginaBisbyDIY 3 года назад
It depends on the size of the rooms and the size of the fans and where you can run your ducting - one fan per room is preferable but you will need two outlets
@brunel23

If your bathroom has an outside wall, a surface mounted fan will work fine. An internal bathroom will always need a centrifugal fan and good quality ducting, to push the moisture through to the outside.

Hello, I have a more innovative air duct fan, which is intelligent and user-friendly, with low noise, and can operate all functions on the mobile phone. I want to invite you to review it and make a 1-minute video. You can contact me directly.

Hi Georgina, I have a ceiling extractor fan but it's a axial type. It's vented through the roof via a 2 foot soil pipe which runs completely vertical. Now its winter there is condensation / water forming around the sides of the fan. I've tried insulating the pipe but hasn't done much. Any ideas please ?
@GeorginaBisbyDIY
@GeorginaBisbyDIY 3 года назад
Hi James, it sounds like the distance between your fan and the exit point is too long and it's too far for the air to travel. I think you've probably got three options: - try and improve the pipe insulation - change the soil pipe out for spiraduct or insulated spiraduct - switch to a more powerul fan Hope this helps - I've found Xpelair quite helpful for expert advice 😀

@@GeorginaBisbyDIY given the type of fan you showed, ? what would stop sewer fumes in a soil pipe from entering the fan's ducting when the fan motor is not running ?

It has three speeds - low, medium and high but to change it you need to remove the case in the loft. Hope this helps.
