Thank you! I was trying to work out what the regs meant on this. “Fixed outlet” I never considered they meant the drain I was trying to work it out based on the shower head that in my case is like that with a hose and not “fixed” that makes a lot more sense 😂

I work in a group of schools built in the early 2000s, they have disabled wet rooms that have hand dryers in close proximity to the showers, which don’t have fixed heads. We could not find regs that help us prove to the council that these hand dryer’s should be removed.

Nice clear explanation Marcos. How would it be if there was shower doors , full-size or half size, instead of a shower curtain ? And the room is a standard size most council homes. Fantastic video as always 👍👍❤️

I remember when I was an apprentice on a new built the client wanted a bidet but didn't want a shower screen on a shower head that extended out next to the toilet the manufacturer instructions said it had to plugged in via the flex lead so you could imgaine an ugly cable going from the toilet to the cabinetry to avoid zone 1

So when bs7671 referrers to “the outlet” in a wet room, they are actually referring to the drain. And when they refer to an “outlet” over a bath or shower tray they are referring to the shower rose/ head??

If the airing cupboard is within the bathroom it’s still within the location? As your still stood in the bathroom?

So in 701.32.3 when it says 1.2m from centre point of fixed water outlet on the wall or ceiling.....thats referring to the waste outlet on the floor? 🤔......hmmmm

If there are shower doors or curtain, would you not take your measurement from the edge of them and not the centre of the drain cover? As there should be a shower tray below the floor covering to allow water to drain away. Well mine has any way the drain of is connected to an automatic pump that starts when the shower is turned on and over runs when the shower is turned off.

@@GSHElectrical i’am not saying you’re wrong far from it I’am just wondering how this works if there are shower doors And there should be a wet room shower tray under the floor covering so I would have thought you take your measurement’s from the edge of the outline of the tray or the outside edge of the shower doors ?

If I’am wrong I will happily admit it. I think wet room shower tray would be treated as a standard tray in this situation? Or is it

At the end of the day it’s all just one big learning curve. Don’t assume that because I am an electrician that in know everything or that I should know everything , to assume is to make an ass of you and me , ass-u-me . I was was just asking a question . I was under the impression that we can and should learn from each other.

So how far should a electrical socket be from a kitchen sink or hand basin?
@seandempsey7351
@seandempsey7351 2 года назад
It was 300mm but BS7671 now say 150mm

@@seandempsey7351 What? I thought it used to be 1000mm from running water

@@seandempsey7351 I’m pretty sure it’s 300 mm from a basin/ sink. But 150mm away from the HOB to align with gas regs

Zones crack me up.... always have been and still are a crazy bonkers rule.... Just dont have electricity in the wet room... theres absolutely nothing stopping a child from spraying water from the shower head to all and every position in that wet room....
