Quester was a driver in 1978, 1979 and 1986. He was entered in the BMW Motorsports "team" in 1987, but he didn't come out to Australia. Ironically, in 1978 Derek Bell put the second Ron Hodgson Torana into the fence just past the Dipper in the early laps which meant he didn't get a drive. And in 1986 driving a BMW Motorsport (Schnitzer) 635 with Roberto Ravaglia he again didn't get a drive because Ravaglia had a crash with the Jaguar XJS of defending race winner John Goss on just the 2nd lap. The Jag survived. The BMW ended up buried in the outside wall going into The Cutting with terminal suspension and wheel damage.
