No duh, Spawn fights entities from heaven and hell, while don't get me wrong I am a fan of batman only fights ordinary men with occasional super powers that do not compete with the enemies Spawn faces.
@@randykenyon9863 The only villain Batman took a very heavy punch from and survived was Darkseid, and he literally stole armor from his goons in order to tank the hits in Apocalypse War I think. This was straight to the face, his plot armor was hanging by a thread at the end of this one… 😂😂
[Opens diary app] "I did something bad the other day. I don't remember what it was. There I saw him. I'm running now. Writing this. Let the boys know. I lasted longer than they will. Pants are still dry. Whatever happens next. Happened after he caught me".
And there is the context needed for that intro in MK. Raiden: You remind me of another Dark Knight. Spawn: The billion-dollar crusader? He's a friend. Raiden: It seems we are both well traveled.
One of my favorite things about Batman, as written, is his ability to observe and stake everything on his instincts about a person. I absolutely hate the "oh, Batman would win against anyone" trope his fans have. He's smart enough to know when fighting isn't the answer. And he's had his ass handed to him plenty of times.
A lot of people seem to forget that Batman loses fights all the time. Then he does his homework, preps and comes back for round 2 where he usually wins.
I don't like the way they powerdowend spawn for his fight against batman. Spawn can manipulate his body to become hard enough to stop a car death in his track. Yet against batman, he was struggling??? That's so lame.
@@rodniegsm1575 did u miss the part about the dead zone? the comic said there are pocket areas where agents of heaven or hell's power are rendered completely useless. and the reason spawn didnt go for a str8 ambush kill right off the bat(no pun intended) was because he was trying to get wanda's soul back; he needed information from batman. so that was basically batman vs al simmons who when he died was like the top killer. seemed rational and gave a nice lil 1v1 of two very skilled men.
@@LegacyKnight-zm6vz I always thought that was a reference to 'War Devil', which was made by Alan Grant, Chuck Dixon and Doug Moench, whereupon Batman and Spawn left on more amicable terms, unlike what happened between them in Spawn/Batman by Frank Miller and Todd McFarlane. As to why McFarlane let Miller basically dump on Spawn through Batman, I'll never know, What I do know is that it's more than likely that War Devil was overshadowed by Spawn/Batman, if only because the creators involved had a higher profile compared to Grant, Dixon and Moench.
@@Luciphers_Workshop he isn't in a Mortal Kombat game but Sub Zero was in Injustice 2, also developed by NetherRealm so it's implied Sub-Zero and Spawn both met Batman as some point
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if by this point Bruce had all his teeth replaced multiple times, each time with a newer stronger material just so they can better survive his line of work and keep up appearances in public. Heck his lower jaw probably isn't even bone anymore.
Batman's plot armor, in this fight, kicks in when Spawn suddenly doesn't recognize that Batman is human and then momentarily stops his attack, giving Batman time to counterattack and eventually talking his way out (talk no jutsu)... Spawn should be able to immediately tell if you are human or a demon.
@@VengeDracul That's what a newly writing Bat-Spawn armor would be for, no doubt XD (Seriously, since the Hellbat and the absurdity of how it was made, I don't think anyone can doubt the writers really give Bats way too much privilege as soon as he thinks "Prep time"...)
No. The comic literally describes 'Dead Zone'. In the original run of Spawn, the only known place was a spot in the New York alleys that was under the control of Heaven, which rendered beings connected to Hell powerless. To the point Spawn was temporarily killed with regular firearms. However, the regenerative abilities kicked in the second he was carried out of the specific spot. (Though in this crossover comic, the Dead Zone is described to render both warriors of Heaven and Hell powerless. But this is Gotham City, not New York, so the rules for this one may be different).
@@memesarekeem yeah, it happened but it isn't exactly Canon and wolverine didn't exactly win. It was more of like a : the fans voted wolverine, so we made wolverine win in the sense that both wolverine and Lobo stopped fighting.
I owned both the DC and image version when they were released. This is exactly what happened. Bruce got the last laugh tho imbedding a batarang in spawns face as he left, giving spawn a wound he had sewn up with an old shoelace and carried for many issues until he learned how to use his power.
@@xombi213hat was a different comic wasn't it? That was the one where the rich chick fires a Nuke at the heart of Gotham and Batman got ripped apart by those cyborg death robots. Spawn healed his body and saved him. At the end they are arguing and Spawn says, "Hey maybe we should just bury the hatchet. Batman replies, "Bury THIS!" Then knowing Spawn wont die throws a bladed batarang hitting him in the forehead.
This fight is better then the last one. Here they actually acknowledge that Bruce would be the one on the ass beating end of the stick because spawn is built different.
Uh no, because the comic shows Spawn ultimately kicking Bats' ass when the playing field was leveled while they fought in the Dead Zone. Spawn, even as a human, was trained in nearly every martial art like Batman and edges him in combat experience out due to the fact that he fights demons and angels on a daily basis.
They at least gave an canon explanation why Batman had a fighting chance (Dead Zones do render Spawn and his symbiote powerless) unlike the other two Batman/Spawn crossovers where Batman whooped his ass in spite of his powers.
@@wallsterrence if I recall it was sonic and the rest of the freedom fighters that walked in a alley and meet up with him it was interesting moment I'll give it that
I remembered this crossover when I was kid back in 1994 and it was one of the coolest interactions I've seen comics. In Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn actually refers to Batman as a friend as they are both Dark Knights in their respective worlds.
Huh, this might be the creepiest a court of owls member has been portrayed rather than the talons themselves. Playing on one literally going in and out of sight and then watching along from the corners. Makes me wonder if one version could play it old gentleman ghost style, tormenting batman in particular with mind games on whether the court of owls are some mystical presence, a legit corrupt faction controlling gotham, or even just a delusion of batmans paranoid mind.
Batman fights crime and evil everywhere, just like every good guy in fiction. The court of owls does crime and evil everywhere, just like every villain in fiction.
I like Batman so much better when he’s in situations that are more true to who he is. Batman is truly at his best when he is in his element- the dark streets of Gotham. When he has a case that shows both the worlds greatest detective and a man driven by a sense of justice and the ghosts of his parents. Too many writers put him in situations where frankly he’s out of his league but he’s not written that way. Super powered beings are SUPER POWERED BEINGS. No matter how smart or well trained or how great a condition he’s in, despite his fighting skills and weapons Batman is still a man. Pitting him against super villains was always ridiculous, because if any of them really wanted to they could kill him easily. Spawn could and should be able to wipe the floor with Batman because he has super strength and endurance and one real punch from him could take Batman’s head off. Batman belongs in the shadowy confines of Gotham
That's the entire point that people miss about Batman. It's BECAUSE he's out of his league that is why he's respected. Not because he could throw a car, or shoot beams from his eyes, or is the descendant of a god, or can manipulate time and space. It's simply because he's a human armed with his mind and willpower. Everything he has, he's earned and honed. He's Batman and there is a reason he's respected as a character in a world of frankly ridiculously powerful beings. You, like so many others, look so hard at the fact that "Superpowered beings are superpowered beings", that you miss this entire point.
Batman is able to keep up with SuperPowered Beings BECAUSE he's Batman. He's the man with The Plan, the one who is Several Steps ahead. It's WHY he can defeat Super Man, why he even defeated Evil Superman. Fuck they even made a MOVIE about how Batman's plans defeated the Justice League. Now with Spawn, I imagine that Spawn wasn't trying to kill Batman right off the bat. I imagine that he was hesitant to do so, as he believed if he killed Batman, he wouldn't get his Wife's Soul back most likely. He figured he'd have to beat it out of Batman. That or just the ego of "Well he's not a threat so I'm not going to put my full strength & power into this" type of thing.
Facts. Kevin Conroy was iconic as Batman. But Keith David..? Whole nother story. Now THAT’S a voice that strikes terror in the darkness. Hell, in broad daylight
the only way i can see it is if ol bats can get a hold of not just holy weapons but angelic weapons. cause with them he better go grab a top notch magic aid. Constantine or Zatanna something like that.
Court of Owls: "there's no way, Batman's going to survive against spawn, no way, he can't recruit him. they're going to kill each other hahaha" Batman: convinces spawn to stop killing him and convinces him to team up Court of Owls: 🙄
There were two versions made. DC made one and image made one. Image was way better, and at the end Batman threw a batarang at spawn giving him a semi permanent shoelace sewn face scar for many issues. I was a teenager when these came out I got both to compare. There was no comparison. You should have ended this video with that full page drawing of the batarang imbedded in spawns face. It was the most epic image of the entire issue. The fact that Todd let that carry over into spawns actual style was legendary.
yeah ur referring to a spawn comic very early in his run, and Batman did a damn good job holding his own there, much more than here, where Spawn had Batman dead to rights. This is a whole other crossover, and I think its debatable if that old comic was better, not to mention you can't compare the stories that much.
I’m shocked Batman was even able to take a single punch to the face from Spawn without his head flying off. He lost so much blood from a few hits I’m shocked he’s conscious… 😬😬
I've grown with batman comic, I've learned to love that character but since 10 years, I started to hate Batman. Guys from DC put Batman on a level that even em dont understand. He is over everything. They made him even more powerful than God, literary. I am shocked that batman didn't kill the Spawn. He anticipated light speed fighters, absord punch from monster of strength, he think faster than those who think faster than him naturally, he etc etc. Personally I think that modern Batman is written to portray the state of weakness of human being.
He's a god and a human. He's machiavelli and ghandi. Antisocial yet a public speaker. A negligent daddy who means well. It's just tough love. The only rule DC follows with Batman is *The Rule of Cool.* Batman is anything, as long as it's badass.
Exactly, it’s gotten so tired. It’s ridiculous at this point. Honestly, it makes him unappealing because he’s clearly WAY out of his league. I’m really starting to dislike how these writers have depicted a street level, non-powered human.
@@blaxpoitation8528 batman is the most popular DC hero and their money maker, that's why batman has plot armor. I love spawn and batman but batman is getting overrated.
I'm convinced that even Superman would have problems dealing with Spawn. Spawn is a master at conserving his energy, only expending enough to handle whatever threat is in front of him. He didn't need draw on much to effectively fight Batman, but because Spawn's abilities are all Supernatural/Magical, Superman might also be caught off guard as soon as Spawn scales his overall power to match Clark's.
Same situation as Shazam. Superman has no special resistance against magic, it affects him as if he were a normal human, and the guy he's fighting is all about that shit. Cept Spawn is far more experienced than Shazam, he would have a much easier time. This is the man who overthrew God after all.
i dont know spawn was doing pretty good when even his powers got turned off. first of all much like his attacks on bats he gets surprised on bats counterattacks after his power off. then even while gettin pummeled and with only his normal puny mortal strength hes still duking it out and getting his licks in...on top of that being heavily weighed down by chains, clumbersome now not animated cape and all that hugely dense necroflesh like armor that is no longer helping just weighing him down.
In all fairness, Spawn is literally a highly trained assassin and considered to be the best in America too, hence why he’s very skilled in hand to hand combat also.
@@blaxpoitation8528 I agree, but I'd look into a particular spawn comic very early in Spawn's history if I were you, written by the goat Todd Macfarlene himself. Let's just say a Spawn comic (one that was relevant only to him) is irronically quashing all the Batman haters who don't like how Batman survived this crossover which is relevant to both him and Spawn lol
Seriously If SPAWN wanted to Kill Batman he could had with no Problem. SPAWN is so Over Powered it's INSANE. He is very lucky SPAWN wasn't aiming to Kill him. Even Batman knows when he's outclassed. It is better to talk instead of trying to go toe to toe with someone like SPAWN. Always loved SPAWN, one of my favorite characters from IMAGE comics. Have just about every comic of SPAWN. He is way to much in comics If you follow his Comics you will see how powerful he is. He is Broken AF. Highly OP.
@@Davidrichmondd spawn has so many magic, yes he will just think of it erasing all you mentioned and poof they're gone. Spawn powers are limited just his imagination though he has a limited pool of "mana" and can only be killed with a weapon forged in heaven basically he is Invinsible.
This should've been a one sided fight between the two characters considering how OP Spawn is but nonetheless it did bring a smile to my face when I see a few of my favorite characters actually duke it out in the comics.
Regardless if batman wins or not he's gone against some of the heaviest hitters ( superman, Darkside , incredible hulk, Dracula, captain america etc) and he's held his own against them and most of them have showen their respect to him as a human with no superpowers in one way or another
If Spawn wanted him dead, he'd be dead. Since he wanted something from him, he was beating it out of him. Batman's intelligence and strategic ability are his best weapons.
Pretty good example of how fucked up batman can get when he’s caught off guard by an opponent he doesn’t know. Prep time and research is a big part of his arsenal in many fights. Not that it’s always the case but getting ambushed by Spawn having never fought him before is practically a death sentence.
Exactly. Given the time to research his opponents strengths and weaknesses, Batman can develop a countermeasure that allows him to go toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful entities in the DC Universe. Without it, he is just peak human and that just isn't enough.
Prep time isn't gonna do shit against Spawn. Batman fans keep saying that he wins with prep time, but... do they know that Spawn kicked God's and Satan's ass? Batman isn't gonna do shit but get his ass kicked the entire battle.
@CraziCacti so comic writers just say that spawn can kick God and Satan's ass ( when that's obviously stupid af) then I can just say that batman can kick spawns ass.
@CraziCacti proves my point even more. The idea that spawn can kick God's ass ( and more) is completely absurd but I guess it can happen because a writer made it happen. Therefore I will say batman can kick spawns ass, which is completely absurd but I guess it can happen because a writer ( me) made it happen. See what I'm talking about?
"Batman hears his cartilage pop. His tendons tear." Then goes on to launch a brutal assault on Spawn. But the writers say he's just a human. 😀 When Hulk shouts "Hulk is the strongest one there is!" Batman's plot armor shouts back.... "Hold my beer." Thanks Fernando! As always, great job on these.
Why do they keep trying to put Batman up against people that are WILDLY out of his league? No, Batman is not beating Spawn or Superman or even Spider-Man. Keep him on his own level of taking down mad doctors and street thugs.
wounded Batman whooped spawns ASS when he had no powers. Which is impressive because Al Simmons is one of the deadliest soldiers in the world pre-death.
Batman's biggest disadvantage in meeting someone like SPAWN is he has no idea who or what he's dealing with and is very vulnerable to attack. If given a second showdown Batman usually finds the weakness he needs to immobilize or defeat a foe. I mean come on, he IS only human. It 's easy to write a character more powerful than a hero who was written in the 30's (including SUPERMAN). That's why they survive the test of time , the hero has to be innovative and better at what they do than who they face.
First encounters are rough for Batman for most of the time. But given time, planning and of course some maybe connections tot he magical world. He would most definitely find a way he can combat Spawn directly or indirectly. But I like that Batman doesn't have an immediate way to battle Spawn here
*Batman deliver the same savageness he endured... The battle goes back and forth with neither able to gain an advantage..as it should be* Hhmm, doesn't sound like Batman was much of underdog here at all which is strange to say the least .. so i don't get your title once again as both were still standing at the end ...and it isn't canon too Hey, are you going to do videos on Batman beating the bat family *Twice* soon ? I was actually surprised that Batman put a fight with the Hell Spawn at all
@@F3EDER even if he didnt intend to kill him, why is batman able to fight back at all? this "deadzone" bs starting to look real convenient for batman is all im saying lol
thats how most of these go don't they? there is a misunderstanding and the heros got to fight, a better way to step up batman vs spawn would be for them to fight over the "no kill rule" cause spawn definitely kills unlike batman.
Batman really loves his rooms fitted with a foes weakness...a basement full of kryptonite or red sun lamps for superman a floor thats too slippery for the flash to run on and a room painted yellow for Green Lantern and now a Dead Zone for Spawn
At least spawn was in a place that nerfs his powers if memory serves me right. If he was going all out Batman would be dead near instantly. Still not as bad as that time he fell from space unassisted 😉 You could post a scene from the animated series and give everyone a batman moment we all enjoy lol.
@@kilz5752 Never said anything about fairness. Just stated that Spawn knew that he would have continued to have gotten beat down in that alley if he crossed that line.
@@datboygrims5547obviously. he was military trained when he was human. unlike batman who literally got trained by ninjas or whatever his exaggerated backstory is nowadays. no shit simmons was losing hand to hand lol
@@datboygrims5547 batman was trained by ninjas and al simmons was military expert at his peak when he was human and alive. clearly the ninja trained fighter will beat a military man who's main expertise was guns to begin with
Bats could PROBABLY beat Al Simmons in a purely hand to hand fight, though he’s walking (if he’s that lucky) away in about just as bad of a shape he’d leave Simmons in. Bats literally has a LESS THAN 0 chance in heaven, hell, or everything in between, against SPAWN. He would get turned into a makeshift jigsaw puzzle, then get folded into laundry afterwards. The ONLY thing that saves him from that fate is that you’re probably contractually obligated to defy all logic in favor of Batman if youre allowed to use him in a crossover 😆
For those who think Batman could take Spawn, Al Simmons (Spawn's name) was THE best soldier/assassin the US Military/Sog/Special Ops ever produced. He was literally a master of every weapon, every combat style, every strategy and tactic known to man, hence why Hell wanted him to lead it's armies. And that was before the Spawn suit. Adding in the spawn suit.... basically he's a demigod at this point, and eventually he becomes a literal god.
I have a question, which spawn are we talking about here? Like how far is he progressed? because Spawn has different stages of power that he's been at, his first stage was impressive but with major limitations that Batman could possibly exploit or is this like mid-endgame-comic series Spawn?
