Fun fact: In the comics during the pre-crisis era, Natalia Knight's Nocturna only had the power to teleport and had pheromone control. They obviously based this version of the character off of Natalia Mitternacht's Nocturna Another fun fact: Nocturna was originally planned to appear in Batman: The Animated Series, but the episode was canceled because Fox censors objected to the storyline.
Dick Grayson & Jason Todd are definitely orphans but I don’t think Stephanie Brown and Carrie Kelley are exactly orphans either, but I guess the reasons for them being in Leslie Tompkins’ Orphanage as well could be that maybe child services stepped in, because we know that Stephanie’s father is usually the criminal known as Clue-Master… (I think, don’t quote me on that.) whilst for Carrie, I think it’s usually implied that her parents are negligent.
I thought the same thing. This episode was Full of Easter Eggs/Call Backs/Memberberries or whatever you wanna call them...and they were all done SO well!
Tim isn't an orphan. He has a normal dad. Dick Grayson and Jason Todd are both orphans. I think I remember that Stephanie Brown has a supervillain dad. I don't really know anything about Carrie Kelley.
Natalia should become this series' Robin. Would be a wild twist and there'd be tons of interesting ideas to explore with a sidekick who can't go out during the day.
I’d make her as Scarecrow’s protégé in season 2 (Like Becky Albright was in Mistress of Fear). Then, end up the episode with the Robin kids helping her and forgiving her.
I was actually thinking the same thing when I watched this episode. She's locked up right now and Batman's probably the only one who cares about her now. There'll be some trust issues between her and the other robins for obvious reasons...
And the way she played Nocturna and the way she was drawn, she would make a good Wednesday Addams. She also played Phoebe Spengler in the Ghostbusters Revival movies.
@GladtoberanDOM there was. Dick Jason Steph And carrie. Steph was a robin for a short time, though the fact she was a robin is generally forgotten. and is currently one of the 3 batgirls. Carrie from the dark knights returns
That’s my favorite Caped Crusader episode ❤ If I were writing season 2 I’d bring Natalia back in a loose adaptation of “Mistress of Fear” putting her in the place of Becky Albright. It’d go something like this: Scarecrow would be Natalia’s doctor/psychiatrist. Being the bad influence that he is he’d try enabling Natalia’s violent tendencies in order to turn her into the fearsome “Nocturna”. Batman would be on the other side of the tug of war for Natalia’s life. He’d try to show her a better way of living in which she controls or gets cured of her hunger and would need help from the 4 Robin kids who’d also be in this episode.
Them all being relatively young does make it clear we arnt going to get most of them for a while, though dick is the oldest, i can see him becoming a Robin in season 2 or 3
I like what they did with Natalia Night by fusing the old version and the new version of her some mixed version it's like the best of both basically but I don't really like how they showed four different robins around the same age it's not right I mean it's cute how it is them but at the same time it's not right and Dick should be a part of the circus not an orphan liking it and I'll say he ends up being an orphan either way but still at least I kept him around the correct age and his hairstyle which is nice.
While the Harley episode was my favorite, this was my second fave. All the Robins, Killer Croc, The Gray Ghost book, Harvey getting the acid...I love all the Easter Eggs throughout this series. I don't know if the 4 are who we think they are or just coincidental, although Steph had the correct name. Maybe in this universe he'll have 4 Robins at once, kind of like the kid team on MAWS but more involved. Very interesting take on the mythos!
I like the fact that it’s kinda a tribute to all of the robins and probably means Timm won’t be doing robin because he notoriously hates the robins but this one fell flat for me. The only part that really got me was the end, and that was the scene where the writing of Linklater’s Batman won me over. Like how mark Waid said (I could be wrong on that, some comic writer) “if you can’t imagine your Batman holding a child, you did it wrong”
I don’t think there’ll be a Robin in this show. It’d be cool if the kids always appeared together in their own adventure that connected with Batman’s investigation somehow. Or maybe the show will bring them back when it brings back Natalia to complete their arc together.
Im still watching this episode right now.....but did anyone notice the names of all the orphan kids? Dick Jason Carrie (Plus she had a slingshot) Stephanie I'll watch the video after I finish the episode. edit...ok, watching your review. I guess the names were pretty obvious. lol
This show has been getting some hate lately. Which I get and some I don't get, but this show has been very good and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
So don't get me wrong, i actually like this show, but i'm sorry to be "the one guy" that have to point this out, have anyone noticed that Batman hasn't manage to defeat completely any of the female villains that he has encounter thus far in this first season, now i'm willing to give a pass to Nocturna since she's just a young girl that wasn't fully evil, more like obsessed with the energy she was absorving from those kids (the Robins, Steph is also a Batgirl, the 3rd one), but the others, not at all. Oswalda (i'm not calling her Penguin, i'm sorry i don't care), not only was able to shoot her "umbrella missile" at the GCPD building but Batman didn't get to defeated her, he was just (unknowingly) stalling her until the police get to arrest her. With Catwomen, the Batman i know wouldn't ask some weird reporter/photographer to help him to stop Selina, he rather would develop (yes, even with the tech of the time) some tiny camera that he, somehow, could stick to a wall outside of her view that take pictures of her crimes and give them to the police in order to arrest her. And Harley, yes she manage to knock out her "brainwashed goons", but only to fall in her sleeping gas chamber trap, allowing her to escape, yes, things get "difficult" for her once Barbara show up, but still she escape. Like, it's to obvious what the show's writers are doing don't you think.
Not at all. What are the writers doing? Please elaborate. Also Batman asking a reporter for help does not negate the fact that he defeated Catwoman. Twice. The first time without said reporter even. So your premise is wrong.
