This in many ways is a successor to the Batman Animated Series which also had a very timeless art direction pulling heavily from the 1930s but was actually set in the early 1990s featuring modern 1990s tech such as computers for example. Yet people wore retro clothes, gangsters used tommy guns, and people drove around in 30s/40s style cars and Gotham itself has this really cool Dark Deco look going on very much how it's depicted in this series. Also can't forget about the blimps which I believe were introduced in the Animated Series and made it's way into the comics, games, etc. A mix of old meets new. So this show is pretty much the Animated Series but set in the late 1930s with Golden Age/Earth-2 version of characters such as Clayface. Same applies to Batman as well who's outfit is based on his first appearance. Alfred visually is also based on his Golden Age/Earth-2 counterpart who was known as Alfred Beagle and did not grow up with the Wayne family or Master Bruce, randomly showed up one day looking for a job as his father used to work for the Waynes. But I'm going to assume that the show will stick closer to the Alfred most people know where he's been apart of the Wayne Family since before Bruce was a child. Same with the origin story of Bruce Wayne as well, maybe sticking closer to Year One by Frank Miller that's been the standard for Batman's origin across the board. Earth-2 Batman also used firearms, carrying around a pistol so I wonder if this will be brought up or if they'll just never feature that aspect of the character. Would be a cool chance to have this Batman be fine in the beginning. highly recommend The Animated Series it's amazing. Along with the film Mask of the Phantasm a solo film set in the same universe. The whole DCAU (DC Animated Universe) is great with Batman Animated Series giving way to Superman Animated Series, New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited all one connected universe beginning with Batman Animated Series.
