If you think about it though, he'd be dead in any scenario where those hell spores went off, and two of his main reasons not to kill is to support justice and rehabilitation and to prevent himself from becoming another Joe Chill. So basically if he isn't going to survive he isn't gonna have nearly as much reason to avoid killing, especially if what he's killing is basically just a giant army of drones and a dictator

I’m sure he knows Batman probably wouldn’t by this point, but that wasn’t what Darkseid was impressed with. In a human’s nature, they can be ruthless enough to do so. While Batman doesn’t kill himans, his ruthlessness far exceeds anyone else’s, especially if he decided to kill. He definitely would’ve razed Darkseid’s planet if he had to, but sacrifice himself with it too. At least that’s how I interpreted it

It's reasons and situations like this why Darkseid has tried to get Batman to join him. He acknowledges the fact that Batman will do whatever it takes to win and is very intelligent.
