I just discovered this recently and was blown away by the size and thinking back I vaguely remember seeimg this on shelves as a kid and passing on it because of the price!
I just bought this Batcave playset last week off FB Marketplace for an absolutely insane deal of only $60! What's funny is that I was simply just searching for Batman merchandise on a whim one day; and surprisingly, this came up as a nearby sale after scrolling down a tiny bit. Yes, the seller knew what he was selling and what this playset normally fetches for online complete with the box; but because it was loose, very dirty/dusty, lacking the stickers (which had long since fallen off), and missing a lot of the smaller pieces (like the missile launcher), he just wanted to offload it (along with a couple of other random vehicles, with some missing parts, from mainly the _The Animated Series_ and _Batman Forever_ toylines). However, all the major components were included; and after a good bath, it looked good as new! (The only essential piece missing was the console near where the Batmobile resides.) It's crazy how massive this playset is in-person, though! I will say its a must have (as long as you're not paying hundreds of dollars for it) for any Schumacher Batman fan that has all the toys _and_ vehicles from either of his two Batman movies, kind of like what you said; and with a little tinkering, it can work flawlessly with the Burton Batman and B:TAS lines as well. Nonetheless, after never knowing about it as a kid (much less having it), I'm definitely going to find space for it to display my Kenner _Batman Forever_ action figures and vehicles as best as I can to recreate scenes from the film. What's even better is that one of the odd-end vehicles included in this purchase was actually the _Batman Forever_ Batmobile; one that was very faded, and missing its canopy. So, it's basically perfect to use as a base for a blown-up Batmobile (like seen in the movie) down towards the bottom of the playset. Paint a couple of cotton balls orange/red, place my green leotard Riddler figure with his cane in an upright position behind the Batmobile, and ta-da... _"Joygasm!"_
Ah amazing. So happy you too found one! It really is insanely massive. Good luck on your display and remember to set up an eBay alert in case any one offers just that missing console - you never know.
I think my favourite of the Batman Forever toys was the Deluxe Attack Wing Batman! They seemed to just do anything for the action figures in those days! Weird purple coloured Batman with Giant Bat like rubber wings? “Sure no problem” says Kenner! 😂
@@1995Batmanand I don’t know about it being the best playset! 😂 Never had this but I did have the weird miniature polly pocket style Batman head playset you’ve also looked at! That was great! Never knew there was a matching Riddler head play set too!
This is the playset, man! I've been waiting a long time to see you get your hands on one! My Mom is really someone special for buying me all those vehicles and figures and the bat cave to store them all! i am gonna link her this video, we miss having the complete cave. Pieces of it are still in our basement after 25 years
This is quite impressive for it's size but I do agree it's kinda not really as fun as the Wayne Manor playset. What I like about the Wayne Manor is that you can close it up and put it away properly. The other plus I can give it is that it has backgrounds build in which I prefer more than platforms with nothing behind theme. But this one is really cool as well maybe I would've liked it more if the batmobile platform was like put in front and under the other 2. Kinda like 3 levels stacking on top of each other I think it would've looked cooler and again that way at least the batmobile part would've kinda had a background behind it to make it look like the batcave.Still pretty solid playset with all the sculpted details and stuff. Also if it was me I would've used the trap door to hold a batsuit kinda like how the wayne manor has the Batman 1989 batsuit save(we all know why) :D
Yeah there's loads of missed opportunities on this playset. They could have made it look and feel much closer to how it appeared in the film. How they didn't do a rising batmobile platform I don't know.
Thanks so much. At the moment I'm mainly Batman Forever and Batman & Robin toys but I might look at some animated stuff at some point. I have reviewed the Batman Forever Wayne Manor playset which is the same as the Animated Series one.
Wow. I never even knew they made this. I had the Batwing, and stupidly let it go years ago, but this part of the cave rocks! What a great display base for figures! I clearly missed out! But it would take your kind of commitment to get one now. Thanks for sharing it. Wow.
Yeah it was neat that they made this to fit all the vehicles. I'm sure a custom builder could make an even more screen accurate batcave if they wanted.
Excellent vid as always! I've seen one of these in person recently and it looked awesome. It would of been cool if they had a feature to have a Armory for the different batsuits like in the film.
It's a little rare. I don't think they made loads. I see some going for sale on eBay every now and then. Rarely ever are they boxed or complete. Last time I saw one it was £150+
@1995Batman yeah most things usually in states worst case had to buy few rare items from them and then a week later I find it in Melbourne right in my own backyard for 1/4 of the price ha ha
Wow! Love it. Have to admit though that while it is a sight to behold, I can see why you're not hugely enthusiastic about recommending it compared to the Wayne Manor Compound. I can't help but feel like Kenner could have made an interesting Fortress of Solitude playset using elements of this!
Yeah it's one plus is that it's so huge. I can't think of many other playsets on this scale. If the Wayne Manor playset didn't exist I'd probably like it more. Oh for sure. If their Man of Steel toyline lasted a little longer I'm sure Kenner would have cannibalized this for a Fortress of Solitude. I'm kind of surprised they didn't try and recycle this for another Batman toyline.
Yeah that would have been great. Claw Island would have also made a great playset too. You could have had a feature where it raised up in the air just like the movie.
I have this still but mice have taken refuge in it and it’s such a shame too. So idk if I should clean it or what cause there’ll always be that mouse smell
Oh man, sorry to hear that. Maybe soak it in cleaning products for a day or two. I think fresh air and sunlight can do wonders for getting rid of that kind of smell too.
But is it really as massive as all that? It’s like my great great grand dad used to tell me, “a playset isn’t really all that ginormous if Batman freaks count all that damn space between the three islands! Why, that’s mere haberdashery!! Where’s my hat?? I’m going to make some nice strained milk and walnut juice now@.
