In the 1970's there was a recording company called POWER RECORDS. They made small books that contained comic book stories & came with a 45 rpm record to listen to. Basically you would listen to the story while reading the book. It sort of taught you how to read & the recording sounded a lot like the old-time radio shows because it has voice actors, music, & sound effects. They were really great! They made a ton of these with all kinds of characters like GI Joe, Six Million Dollar Man, Superman, plus many more. They even made a few of them with Batman characters ( Joker, Scarecrow, Catwoman, etc...).

A little mexican kindergartener in El Centro, CA learned how to read with this record. I would read along and turn the page with the beep sound. My Mom was a single mother back then and even though I was young I appreciated her buying it. I knew that this was an "extra" and that we generally coyld not afford this. It meant a lot. Us kids in the 70s really appreciated our parents buying us things outside of Christmas and your birthday.

Whit Bissell possibly narrated this. sounds quite similar. I saw him in "Time Tunnel" "I was a Teenage Frankenstein"(as Dr. Frankenstein) and Gunsmoke and Bonanza. anyway, I had this full size "long playing record" as a kid and loved the Hell out of it!

Commissioner Gordon sounds a lot like Inspector Holmes from the other side of the record. ;)

Narrator sounds like Whit Bissell(time tunnel and a host of westerns he was "Prof Frankenstein" Teenage Frankenstein..). don't know if he is but sure sounds like him.
