Batman: Return to Arkham City - All Game Over Death Scenes 

When Riddler told us he was the Brightest Batman opponent, I didn't think he meant literally.

I didn't think this guy was even aware that death scenes existed lol.

Whenever I see clay face doing a death scene, all I can pay attention to is how his stomach moves

This remaster managed to make a dying Joker look even more scary than the original. Also, those Joker laughs during the game over scenes were just brilliant.

I don't know why, but The Riddler glowing is hilarious. Like why does he have an aura? Has he reached the pinnacle of douchebaggary or something?

Batman Arkham Videos has to hand the controller to somebody else to die, since it's impossible for him to die when he plays, he's just that good.

Troy Barker's performance as two face is so underrated in these games. He's able to switch between harvey and two-face on a dime effortlessly and completely embodies two face. I wish he got more recognition for his performance in this game.

Joker can laugh all he wants, but we all know he would cry himself to death knowing batman is dead.

This is part of why I love the Batman games, the villains all hate Batman in their own way, so when you die and they taunt you, you can feel that Batman failed and the villain won.

I gotta love how this version of Two-Face is somehow the awkward combination of the genuinely creepy and unhinged Aaron Eckhart Harvey Dent and the goofy, camp, pun-dropping Tommy Lee Jones Harvey Dent.

Fun fact: Hugo Strange is voiced by Corey Burton. Corey Burton also voiced Count Dooku in the Star Wars: the Clone Wars series. He also voiced Ansem the Wise in Kingdom Hearts. Also... Let's appreciate that this guy had to play the WHOLE story and intentionally get killed for this video. Props to this man. Also... a question for everyone. During the Gang War in Arkham City who would have you joined? Joker, Penguin, or Two-Face? I would have joined Two-Face. I always found him the more reasonable of Batman's villains. He treats his men the best out of all 3 of them. He divides up Catwoman's loot with them, actively recruits them by promising them actual material gains rather than either "you have to be awesome to join us," or "I'll kill you violently if you don't." Plus.. he just took anyone that wished to join him rather then having to go through deathtraps or a gladiator pit like Joker and Penguin does. Plus, out of the three of them he actually comes out on top, even being fucked up by Catwoman. His gang controls the largest territory, he isn't locked up or killed, and he gets everything in the museum. Finally, the Joker is a lunatic who'd kill you on a whim and one of the reasons why I hate clowns, and the Penguin is a savage sadist who may not kill you but who'd beat the shit out of you for kicks. He whacks one of his men in the crotch because he wanted to. Two-Face would at least give you a fifty-fifty chance not to be beaten and/or killed. Plus... I'm named after my dad making me the 2nd. So that would also fit well with the whole Duality and Two theme Two-Face has. Plus... I like the look of their outfits.

Here’s a list on how to get the special game overs (spoilers below) Hugo Strange - His lines will appear if the mayor is left to die later on in the story. In the Catwoman DLCs, if Catwoman alerts the guards in the Goods Vault prematurely before receiving the three key cards, his lines for Catwoman will appear after the vault has been permanently locked down. Two-Face - If Batman alerts everyone in the courtroom that he has arrived and goes down the stairs in the upstairs hallway, Two-Face will say his line and orders his men to kill her. This can also occasionally occur if Batman dies during the fight in the courtroom. Harley Quinn - If Batman dies, two of her lines will be about Joker. The first one will show her concerned and worried for Joker as Batman is dead. The second one is where she expresses frustration and disappointment as she says that he was supposed to save Joker (I was confused as this occurred for me after Joker died). The next unique line is if Catwoman gets killed by Joker’s men (don’t matter what part of story line), she will mock Catwoman by saying “Nanananana”. Joker - His lines are pretty much when Batman gets killed by Joker’s men. Fake Joker - There is one occasion where if Batman leaves Park Row when tasked to rescue Talia near the finale of the game, he kills her, which triggers his normal lines for when Batman gets killed by Joker’s men. Poison Ivy - Almost all of her lines are dedicated to Catwoman shall she choke to death on her gas or be killed by her hypnotized men. There is one where it can apply to Batman as well shall he get killed by her hypnotized guards outside of her hideout (needs to be before the events of the second or third Catwoman episode). Penguin - His normal death lines will trigger upon failure if killed by his men. But there are occasions where game over will trigger despite not being killed in combat. Such as if a hostage is killed in the Armory or if Batman is devoured by Tiny the shark (by jumping in water before Tiny’s confrontation or while he is trying to eat his boat), his normal lines will trigger. Also, if Catwoman gets killed by Penguin’s men, he will always say “Having a little lie down, are ya? Enjoy it. It’s your last.” Solomon Grundy - His lines are for when Batman dies normally but there is one special way for Batman to die, fail to escape Grundy’s grasp while electrocuting his ball n chains with you in his hand, in which you will be electrocuted to death. Talia al Ghūl - Not sure. My guess is if you die during the Demon Trials, these lines may occur. On the consoles however, no game over lines occur. Not even a game over screen will occur if Batman dies in the trials. Ra’s Al Ghūl - Pretty much if you die during his battle, these lines appear. There is one where it ain’t really special but it happens when he is weakened, fail to counter his quick blade swipes enough to lose all of your health until you die. Mr. Freeze - Get killed by Freeze and these will occur, where he will cease your existence (decided to make it rhyme 🤣) Clayface - Get killed by Clayface or his self made minions. Deadshot - There is only one line where it is dedicated to Batman’s death. The first two are for if you fail to reach Jack Ryder in time before he is killed by Deadshot. Mad Hatter - Get killed by Hatter or his hypnotized men during the dream in the rabbit hole. The Riddler - Pretty much die in one of his challenges, either during his side missions or during the “fun” challenges (Riddler’s Revenge) for his normal narcissistic lines. In order to get the “You picked wrong” line, you may try to play his little Watch the Cup game the old fashioned way or pick the wrong one purposely and you can watch the poor guard fry and his unique line will appear. If Batman stands in the way of the hostages inside his main hideout, which kills them in an explosion, Riddler’s unique game over lines will have him make jokes about the hostage’s death. Victor Zsasz - Take too long on his phone calls when you accept one, and he will kill the “little piggies” off-screen, resulting in his lines. If Zsasz spots you in his hideout, he will tell the hostages “I will cut you. I will bleed you and when I’m done, I cut myself and you will be immortalized in my flesh”. Then he will always say the “I’m going to take my time, Batman. After all, you took yours” line. Black Mask - Pretty much die on the Freight Train challenge or the Black Mask campaign in “Riddler’s Revenge” and you will receive his lines. Harley Quinn (DLC) - For her “Tough luck, Birdbrain” and “Oh no. You’re all dead. Who’s gonna save Batman now”, have Robin get killed. For her “You’re going to pay for letting Mr. J die” line, it may be occasional but have Batman get killed. Her “Good. I hope it hurts” line can occur for both heroes. Special Game Overs without Lines: Ninja escapes - If Batman loses ninja while chasing her, he will either say “I lost her” or “She got away”. Afterwards, the “Mission Failed” will appear. Hints say to keep up with the ninja as she navigates the rooftops. If you lose her, you will not be able to track down Ra’s al Ghūl for a sample of his blood. Shipyard explosion - During the Harley DLC, if Batman fails to defuse all of the bombs in Harley’s Shipyard base in time, a cutscene that is the same as the final cutscene will play with Gordon rushing towards the side of the holding only for it to explode and him saying “No”. But instead of Batman and Harley Quinn escaping, a “Mission Failed” screen appears. The hints will say to defuse all of the bombs planted around the Shipyard before the timer expires. Dying after Hugo Strange dies - If Batman gets killed by henchmen who are unassociated with any gang after Hugo Strange dies, there will only be the “Mission Failed” message (along with hints if turned on) And that’s it! Now that we have close ups, I'll say this: The graphics in the trailers were absolute balls. But in the actual game, it's a lot better. Is it better than the original? Yes and no. The environments and backgrounds look great. But the characters, some look better than others, some look perfect, some look simply ok. But I'm still not a fan of the play doh hair that some characters have. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
