Real fans of DC and movies in general should call for Snyder to be fired. He makes mediocre movies at best. We deserve better, stop defending this hack.

The whole time while watching this, I was just thinking about how much I missed the Nolan and the Dark Knight trilogy and how excited I am for Civil war

The first full trailer for this movie spoiled almost everything that was going to happen anyways.

This movie was fucking amazing. I've never seen so many critics get a movie wrong. Ignore this and the rottentomatoes scores and go see this fucking movie.

I thought this movie was awful, worse than Man of Steel, which I did not like. That said, the scene where Batman stops right before killing Superman because their mothers have the same name worked for me. It was really corny but here is the reason it worked. Batman's arc in the movie is supposed to be that he has become so blinded with rage by his fear of Superman that he has lost his humanity. This is what his interactions with Alfred are all about. When Batman realizes that Superman has a mother and that she has the same name as the mother he lost it makes him see him not as an alien, but as a person. Throughout the movie Batman and Superman both look at each other in a way that is dehumanizing but eventually they see that they are both just men trying to do the right thing. Now I thought this movie was shit, but there were a few things in it I loved, and that moment was one of them.

The "knightmare" scene was supposed to be an injustice setup. In injustice, the joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and their child she's pregnant with. He loses his mind immediately, flies straight to the joker in prison, kills him and establishes a world order and kills everyone challenging him and in he tells Batman "she was my world." Then later on he tells Lois "You're my world." The flash-flashback scene was telling him he was right about Superman changing evil down the road. It also was a setup for Darkseid with the Omega sign and parademons flying. None of it makes sense, how Batman has a premonition of both of these story lines and flash warning him was also a dream. This script was so lazy and awful Batman was an alcoholic, psychic, murderer. FOR ONE EXAMPLE.

I think the whole "save Martha" was not bad because batman identified himself with it by in the past feeling guilty that he could not save his mother with the same name. So in a way he saw that as a sign that he should not kill superman

The stupidest part of the movie, the whole premise of Batman vs Superman. It's childish pandering.

This movie is the equivalent of someone taking a $100, ripping it to shreds, taping it back together in no discernible order, and handing it to you with the promise it still has value.

Gosh if you guys thought B&S teamed up because their mom shared the same name you didn't pay attention. Why does it feel like some people watched a completely different movie. It had some problems but I give it a solid 8/10

Watch Mojo just did a list of Missteps In Comic Book Movies and this review just reminded me of some points they made. Particularly the whole gritty thing. Superman doesn't need to be gritty. Marvel proved that superhero flicks don't need to be gritty and dark to be good. Matt was right it's not about the tone its if the writing and directing is good.

Really surprised by all this Wonder Woman love, I thought she was easily the weakest part of the entire movie. Gadots delivery and acting was awful throughout.

I like how when Matt and Alonzo are talking comics, Christy and Ben are just looking on like "I have no idea what your talking about".

The man saw his parents get murdered in cold blood so when Superman told him his moms name is Martha, it triggered that moment of devastation for Bruce which made him feel like he's the guy that's gonna kill this man in cold blood which makes him no different from the guy who killed his parents.

These are the worst critics ever .... They didn't know it was doomsday really . Lex Luther even says his name . These people don't know shit about the dc universe . They suggested batman should take steroids come on . If they know anything about batman is that he's a preparation fighter and that's what he did to beat superman and he also trained to get stronger against superman like really. Then the part where they see flash tell batman about the future ... They didn't even know that was flash and the one person who did complained he had a mustache no shit he came from the future he's older . Ignorance at its finest

I respect your opinions and you are all entitled to form your own thoughts towards the film but I disagree with you 100%. I thought the film was really well made for having to do so much in less then 3 hours. I believe the film was a solid sequel for Superman and introduced us to the greatest onscreen Batman to date. I give the film a solid 9/10.

I hate when Ben Mankiewicz gets interrupted like he did in this review because he tends to make the best points. Plus is the best looking.

Superman died and he'll come back but what will happen next ? Do you honestly think he'll just walk up to people and say "hey guys, i'm all healed up now" - This superman is still in development, he realises this world is dark and fucked up, he got beaten by a mortal man and almost died to doomsday. DC can go sooo many ways with this. E.g. superman can return as an evil being, he can go into training , he might fear his next opponent, he might be mortal while he's recovering, the world might be in chaos because superman is dead and anything goes ! - then we'll realise... we need superman in this world.

Critics hate this movie because they want it to be bad because they hate Zach Snyder. People go along with it because yeah, that's the 'in' thing. We're so disillusioned with Hollywood these days and their recycled, generic ideas(or lack thereof) that now we expect every single picture to be Citizen Kane. Batman vs. Superman was a really fun, really solid superhero action movie. If anyone saw it with more grandiose expectations, you deserve to be disappointed. Stop whining and except the fact that some movies are supposed to be full of action that defies reality and stuff blowing up and chase scenes.

I've heard a lot of critics saying this movie wasn't good. Went and saw it anyways and loved it. A lot of the parts that these people were confused about made sense to ME. I dunno, I'm not one to go see a movie, expecting it to be bad and focus on every flaw. I just watch the damn movie and enjoy it. Batman v. Superman was enjoyable to me.

the play on the name Martha of both their mothers was just a plot device to get batman to pause and reflect. Batman realize that he fights to honor his parents memory and protect the innocent, and so does superman who has earthly parents and responsibility to make earth a better place. basically, batman realize superman has a family base code of honor, and is a citizen of earth regardless of his extraterrestrial origins.

I thought the point of the Martha scene that Batman doesn't see Superman as a person and Batman's whole purpose is to sorta avenge his parents murder, so someone mentioning his mother's name gives him pause but when he finds out that Superman has a human mother also called Martha and I guess also a girlfriend I can understand why it stopped then quashed the poor reason he had for taking out Superman, which was really a Lex manipulation anyway.

I just saw it. it might have been entertaining for fans, but the average moviegoer would've sat through 5 minutes and said what the hell is going on in this shitshow.

1:55 Out of EVERYTHING in this movie, that has got to be the STUPIDEST possible thing in it!

Zack Snyder is a first rate director when it comes to his aesthetic sensibilities. They guy knows how to make any scene look gorgeous, and every scene in Batman V Superman is dripping with beauty. His shooting of fight choreography is doubly impressive, and can even be considered a high art. With that said, I have to concur with critical consensus that he is sorely lacking, as a director, when it comes to telling a coherent well paced narrative, and he is lacking when it comes to character development. With that said, I have a sneaking suspicion, though I have no way of proving this, that much of the problem with Batman v Superman's story had more to do with Warner Bros meddling, than Zack Snyder's shortcomings as a director. Look at what he was asked to do: 1. Introduce Batman in this universe, and change him from the way we are used to seeing him, and do it all in a brief opening credit synopsis. 2. Show the audience why Bruce Wayne is so enraged at Superman 3. Show both characters fight. 4. Introduce Lex Luthor and his motivations 5. Introduce Wonder Woman in a way that she is relevant to the plot 6. Make the audience aware of the existence of other future Justice League members. 7. Make Lois Lane, with everything else that is going on in this film, relevant to the story. 8. Illustrate how the world has become polarized when dealing with Superman's godlike powers. 9. Have Superman and Batman reconcile, and then have Wonder Woman fight Doomsday along side both of them. 10. Hint at the future plot Justice League by introducing Darkseid. 11. Oh yeah...while we are it, lets kill Superman as a homage to one of the most popular comic book issues in DC history. A single movie can handle maybe two or four of these things well. To ask for all 11, in one movie, is something no director would do unless forced by the studio, so as to hastily lay the ground work for an ensemble movie which should have been built over several standalone films. Zack Snyder is not known for crowding his films with so many elements. His other films, like 300, Man of Steel, and Watchmen were not this overcrowded. This has all the telltale markings of studio meddling, which compelled the director to do too much in one film.

Okay, if one wants to argue this should have been two movies or a person just did not like it that is fair. This review however is a joke and its based on ignorant points and at times spite. 2:00 Matt gets a chuckle out of the Martha angle. The movie made very it in several Bruce Wayne dialogue scenes that he did not see Superman as a man. Bruce believed Superman was nothing more than a alien, at that moment Batman realized Superman was man with a Mom and loved ones, he was a man not a alien. You dont need a fucking degree from Harvard to get that point! The worst part is after they fail to understand this clear plot point they all muck and chuckle like clowns for the next 50 seconds. 3:25 Alonso on his rant with Batman using guns? Outside of dream sequences when did Batman use a gun? Yes the Batmobile and the Batwing had guns mounted to them. That is nothing new in Batman comics, hell in the Dark Knight Returns he used a tank. Ben at 3:55 cracking jokes about the Flashes weight, ironic with Matt sitting next to him. Sorry but Flash didnt appear over weight and even if he did. Who fucking cares, so these professional critics are docking points from a review based on Flash appearing overweight in a dream sequence? 4:30 Ben being confused who was what and what was occurring during the car chase. This clown watches movies for a living and could not track that scene? It wasnt a hard scene, but Okay Ben was confused. The other three clowns all chime in and support and chuckle and muck at his point. These four professional reviewers all failed to track a simple A to B movie car chase and got confused who the good guy and bad guys where. My seven year old Nephew didnt have any issue! 5:28 Matt cries about lack of payoff at the Senate bombing. So in one breath they complain about movie length and the next they complain all points where not resolved? I'm sure that in future JL movies this point will be well addressed. I guess in Civil War when the United Nations is going to get blown up Marvel better spend the next 30 minutes explaining the full aftermath. I could go on and on and fucking on about these four hacks ignorance and confusion on simple plot points. I can understand a individual misunderstanding something but all four of these clowns and that being followed up by their arrogant chuckling. Four blind fucking sheep following the herd!!! it looks like you guys went into the movie wanting to hate it, i do understand the concerns, but it should be done with a spirit of critical analysis instead of a straight out "everything is wrong with it". I watch this channel and expected a good review but it turned out to be a hate session against dc. In all honesty snyder is bold enough to create an adult comic book movie, further more , regardless of how a man in a bat suit sounds, this movie actually made me feel like these heroes could exist in the world we live in

The lack of knowledge is what is breeding the hate. I will answer your first question. Martha, derp? Same name derp derp? Because as he was facing death, the life Superman was begging for was not his own. It was for the life of another. That challenged the notion that batman had that Superman had no courage. And THAT was the catalyst of the change in Batman. And in return, the willingness Batman showed to put helping his mother above his own vendetta, was the catalyst for change in Superman. We need to understand, that the subtitle of Dawn of Justice. It is always darkest before the dawn. And Dawn also means beginning. The beginning of both of them reaching their ideals(Justice), not just with one another, but THROUGH one another. You guys might want to try a film theory class. I would explain all my counter points, but I think they would fall on deaf ears. smh.

Generational truth: "Old" people did not like the Batman Vs. Superman movie; "youthful" people enjoyed/ liked this movie.

Is this just happening to me? The video is moving slower than the sound and when you pause it the audio stops but the visual keeps going until it catches up.

This review gets a 4.2. Four for each of you finally watching a film, & 0.2 for your critique. Was it a flawed film, yes, but not nearly as much as you would have us to believe.

It is really just so good to see you guys all together on these reviews. I can't subscribe to a channel with the 'My Take' plan for building views/ subscribers (I'm blaming Cenk for that), but I cannot help but keep eyes peeles for when there's an all star review by these 4, when it's a good movie and _especially_ when it's a bad movie. Keep dipping in your Lazarus pools and never go away.

Yeah, I know it was 10 mins into it but I literally closed the tab when the guy didn't know who Doomsday was.

Is the movie good? Nah, but it was exhilarating AF. Some of the best Batman action sequences I've ever seen. We're now seeing WW and Supes going all out and going balls to wall superhuman fighting. Batfleck is, in my opinion, one of the better representations of Wayne/Batman, just like Jeremy Irons is one the more interesting Alfreds I've seen. The Bat-Supes fight was pretty on point and the cinematography and look was certainly beautiful. Sure, there were around 45 mins of plot that probably shouldn't have been there (mostly Easter eggs and setups), but I was much more entertained by this than I was by Age of Ultron. People seemed to enjoy the movie and it made a boatload of money. Now we can just go on and build the good movies that the DCU needs (though preferably not with Snyder).

In that old timey picture of Wonder Woman it sure looked a lot like Chris Pine standing next to her. Am I the only one who saw that?

2 years ago when the Ben Affleck as Batman thing was a big controversy I remember telling people "listen it does not matter who is playing Batman because the movie will be mediocre anyway because Zack Snyder is a hack filmmaker."

The Senat scene pushes Bruce wAyne over the Edge, because it was blown up by his former employee who was grippled, and the top notch of it were the messages from Luther on the resent checks and article of destroyed metropolis to Bruce Wayne.

This movie is absolutely not perfect by any means but it makes me kinda mad that this movie is getting so trashed because it failed to futile critics expectations of this were any other movie it wouldn't have done so bad with reviews

Theirs a Simpsons bit from like years ago where Milhouse is about to get his ass kicked by another kid named Milhouse until they both discover they're named Milhouse. That's how the the batman vs superman fight ended.

When I reviewed this movie I said that my biggest complaints were the fairly slow pacing in the first 2 acts of the movie, and a bunch of scenes that didn't need to be in the movie. Aside from that it was a good flick, and Ben Affleck did a great job as the Bat.

i dont think both mothers' names being martha is the reason for batman not to kill superman. sure, he stops when he hears the name, but he makes the decision when lois tells him that its the name of supermans mother. maybe its the realization that this alien has a mother, which kind of makes him a person. plus superman propably wont destroy the planet his mother lives on.

How do you conclude that movie made more sense, or provided more thrills, or had more interesting characters than his movie?
