If you ever need to find angry Man of Steel and DC apologists, you needn't look any further than a ScreenJunkies comment section! Listen people, I'm sorry that they didn't like your movie, but if you look at what most people and critics are saying rather than writing it off as hate, this movie, while it definitely has fantastic moments, is a weak movie more on par with Amazing Spider-Man 2 than anything else. And that in no way means you can't like it. This very comment really just voices my opinion, and you clearly have yours because film is a very subjective medium, so there is no right or wrong in this. Just defend your movie well rather than just resorting to calling people biased, when you likely have a bias yourself.

Personaly i liked the movie but you are right its subjective, i liked whate they said about lex that it depends on whate kind of lex you wanted, because even if you didnt like the way they went with lex it wast because of bad acting :)

The overall problem with this movie, and the new DC Cinematic Universe in general, is that DC/Warner Bros are trying to catch up to Disney/Marvel way too quickly. Imagine how bad The Avengers would have been if it had been released just two years after Iron Man came out and more than half the characters hadn't been in their own movies yet. That's exactly what happened here. They're more concerned with outdoing the competition then actually taking the time to build up and develop their characters.

I think a lot of people reviewing this film are forgetting that Snyder has stated that this film is NOT supposed to be MoS 2. It's a prequel to Justice League. For goodness sake it even has "Dawn of Justice" in the title.

Yet to see it, but all the negative points laid out in this video were among my concerns about the films production. I'm worried that DC got so enamored with replicating the success of the MCU that they neglected to truly consider whether or not that approach to world building fits into their story. Not EVERYTHING about the MCU works - the Avengers films alone present a lot of creative challenges that could undermine the story if they're nor properly handled. A cliche is created when one artist attempts to emulate another's work without really grasping it's purpose - an imitation of form, without the substance. Throughout the production of this film one question has kept bothering me; what is the POINT of the "Dawn of Justice" subtitle? Why does the seemingly self contained story of "Batman VS Superman" need all this extraneous shit?

9/10. The whole movie I was waiting for it to start sucking. But after it was 90% done I started to realize that nothing that happened in the last 10% could take away the joy, tears, and magic I felt thus far. I hope that DC ends up caring more about $$$ and fan reviews in this case. I honestly feel like there is no way that the movie everyone is pouring hate on, is the same one I watched.

Personally i thought it was an amazing film. it has a few flaws but a lot of the ones they poitned out seemed a bit nitpicky and i didnt have a problem with the zooming from scene to scene and i liked the justice league introductions but they should be expanded into their own films a bit before a justice league movie.

I agree, all the scenes help bring it up to the fight between the two heroes, and what a fight it was, and the ending of the film just left me speechless. It seems like they wanted to bring the Justice League together because of events Lexus wanted to bring about. For me, the whole movie felt like an opera, and I just loved it, although I wasn't happy with the way they handled Perry White. Laurence Fishbern is wonderful as White, but the makers of the movie just waisted him, and I didn't like the meta human angle of Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. Other than that, haters gonna hate because it ain't Avengers or Captain America. I like those films too, but come on. Afleck killed it as Batman!

You know now that I think about it, BvS was pretty much the movie equivalent to Resident Evil 6. A bunch of sloppy substories combined to make a mediocre end product. Unfortunate because both BvS and RE6 had the ingredients to make something great but instead lost focus.

Who was the protagonist in Batman v Superman? The antagonist (it's not Lex)? What was at stake for either character? What was the central problem? These are Screenwriting 101 questions. Nothing fancy. And yet, the movie doesn't define any of these elements properly. It's no wonder that it comes off as "muddled" and doesn't quite feel like a coherent film.

+bizmonkey007 Did you watch the movie? Are you expecting one protagonist in a movie about two central characters and WW who will be part of the justice league? What was at stake? The meaning of Superman's existence on earth, and whether he should continue to protect humanity. For Batman, it was whether he would allow Superman to reign free who he believed was a threat to the world. So the stake for each was the purpose of their life which was to protect humanity. And at the end, it was clearly shown. Yes, they need Superman and also Batman to fight against villains like Lex. The movie makes it very easy and obvious if you pay attention....

+Ramza Apparently when your mother's name share the same as your threat's mother's name. You ultimately become bestfriends and help each other out. The political nonsense about questioning Superman's existence on earth was cool and give us enough emotional care for the protagonist and also made us too question about it but they pointed it out waaaay too much within the movie, hence becoming a bore, just get to the point already. The human side are way too annoying, selfish, and egoistic when ironically one of their kind is the one masterminding all the shits happening in the movie. I laugh way too damn hard at the explosion scene.

Ramza Yes, I watched the movie. The protagonist is Batman because he actually has a goal and some semblance of a motivation (he fears what Superman might be so he wants to kill him). It's weak, but it's the best the film offers. The antagonist? I would almost say Superman. He's the opposite of Batman, and "defeats" Batman earlier in the film (the scene where he causes the Batmobile to crash and tells Batman that he better stop). The near final confrontation, where Batman defeats Superman, reinforces this. Batman had to grow stronger to beat Superman. Finally, Batman's the only one that changes. He goes from Superman's enemy to his friend within 2 minutes. It's contrived and unbelievable, but the movie tries. The movie has no real stakes. Existential stakes are great in an art film, but this is a Superhero movie. What's immediately at stake if Batman decides not to obtain kryptonite? It's hard to say. The overstuffed dream sequence with the flying men and the random guy in the suit (parademons and the flash, but the general audience doesn't know this) tries to provide urgency, but Batman has no reaction to it. He doesn't put it in perspective for the audience. Is it a dream? A vision? Why doesn't Batman address the random guy in the suit? He doesn't know who he is, yet let's it go. It's confusing.

Ramza Sorry. I was just cutting to the chase of how I felt without giving a full review. Honestly, I didn't mind the Lex Luther as most people did. I just didn't care for all the odd and long setup that appears to go no where. The movie jumps around a lot which also left a bad taste. There's also the fact that several elements, I felt, were just jammed in there with little purpose beside that it is in the movie. (I.E. Wonderwoman. She didn't need to be in the movie whatsoever and didn't really affect the plot.) I could give more stuff that bothered me, but those are about the biggest points.

As for WW, I can understand why you feel that way. But consider this. They need to introduce her because she will form the JL, but DC and the movie industry probably realized that they can't make enough profit with a WW movie because she's not as popular as Batman and Superman. Which make sense that they introduced her this way. But if your criticism is why was she there in the first place, you are in fact criticizing the JL comics itself. In a sense you are asking why is she even a member of JL? These characters are not connected or related whatsoever. They each live their own lives and fight their own battles. They just came together to fight a villain that they can't take on one on one. If your expecting a great story, don't expect from a movie that's based off of comic books. They provide hardly any substance and the story is weak. You don't pick up a comic book and expect a great novel.

I would also add that people had an unrealistic expectation regarding this movie..the reaction by many clearly shows that for those for whom the movie failed (and I absolutely think this is true) seeing this movie was supposed to be "the movie to end all movies". it's like they were hoping to have "an experience" like a vision of angels or some quasi religious happening. fans were practically frothing at the mouth by the time this movie it the screen. when all the energy that surrounded this movie dies down a piece and we are left with JUST THE MOVIE I think it will stand on par with any and every marvel movie I've seen..especially winter soldier which to marvel fans was an A-plus flik but for me was stra up..BORING.

I watched it and the characters were great. Batman, wonder woman and superman all did really well. Maybe the movie plot could have been better but I don't understand why people keep bashing on Affleck's Batman..IMO, he did really well. well..haters gonna hate but can't wait for upcoming DC movies. DC definitely gives different kinda taste compared to Marvels.

I personally liked it. i think the real problem people had with it was that they expected this epic show down and that's never going to happen. its always they fight a little until they realize theyre on the same side. and thjswas really nothing more than a dc version of catch up...i think justice will be a much more rounded film. i enjoyed it for what it was, a really long trailer for whats to come!

Of course, your complaints are right - this could, and should have been done better, essentially giving it more time, and more movies. I have just seen the movie. Affleck does a good job as Batman. Gal Gadot is a solid WW. Would have been nice to see her in her own movie first. The effects are really good and the score is excellent. The trailer did spoil too much of the movie, which was a shame. Batman needed to be a bit more of a detective. This movie had the best batcave ever. The other Justice League characters were somewhat stuffed in. However did not take enough of the movie up to really absorb any attention. The only really knock was that the Batman V Superman and the Doomsday parts should have been in different movies. Jessie Eisenberg did a pretty good job as Lex. The movie was probably 7.5/10.

This is a great movie. I love that they don't ram explanations and backstory down your throat. We all know who Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are. Many people have read the comic books, or can if they want to get a clue as to some of the many sources they used to make this original story. Saying "they could've done better" is a cop-out. The greatness of this movie is the grey, the uncertainty, the lack of knowledge. It keeps the viewer worried whether Batman should actually kill Superman and whether he'll actually snap. There are so many theories and comic book overlays that this movie left me in a wondrous state. I'm glad they didn't just mirror Frank Miller's Batman, I'm intrigued that it seemed to exist after the Christian Bale Batman timeline, and I LOVE that I actually went to see it again two days later. I rarely do this. The criticism that I've seen for this movie revolves around the viewer not knowing enough. Normal movies cram too much information on the viewer. This movie doesn't. This movie respects the knowledge most people have of these characters or that they can easily discover if they cared to. One caveat to my heaps of praise: Alexander Luthor... Jessie Eisenberg... wrong. Lex Luthor, in any form is an alpha male that touts humans for humanity. He's not an eccentric, he's a patriot and introducing the son of Luthor is weak sauce.

I actually enjoyed the movie, but I know a decent amount of lore, but most casual fans walked out of this movie scratching there heads. People aren't suppose to walk out of a movie thinking they need to do home work after just to understand it.

This review pretty much confirms my biggest fear about this movie: that it is rushed. The Avengers works because they took their sweet freaking time setting it up. All the different films building up to this one moment. Sure we suffered a bit during the wait but the payoff was so worth it. It seems this film is an attempt to do a Man of Steel 2, Batman, Wonder Woman and "The character Signore mentions" movie in one fell swoop and that will never work. Fingers crossed.

I respect your opinions, and I agree with you about the pacing and the justice league being shoehorned in, but overall the movie was still awesome. The fights were some of the best shown in any superhero movie to date. Affleck killed it as Batman, Gadot was great as Wonder Woman, and the more complex portrayal of Superman made a character I thought was boring and stiff for a long time actually interesting. Like I said good review and good points, but personally, I thought it was great.

Watched the film and loved it. I hadnt seen any trailers and now that I have read reviews and watched the trailers, I can completely understand most of the criticism it's facing. What the critics are not getting is that the problem is not the movie but the trailer because it revealed too much. Spontaneity of many brilliant moments got lost for those who watched the trailers. It's a dark, emotionally strong superhero film. One fair criticism is that it packs too many things into one film. Could have easily made two films out of this one. I feel 3hours long R rated version will be even better. Can't wait for that! And Ben Affleck Batman > Bale Batman. However, Bale Bruce Wayne > Ben Bruce Wayne. Wonder Woman is badass!

It came out yesterday here in Italy. Batfleck is the best part of the movie. Loved his scenes. Gal Gadot acts a good WW but she doesn't 100% feel like her. She lacks the physical presence for it. Everything else... Well, the trailers gave everything. Except for the Bat and WW, the internet's theories and paranoias were all right. This is a 6.5 out of 10, a 3 out of 5. And it's probably the last DC Snyder film we'll see.

The best part of the movie was Batfleck, which ironically was initially so "worrisome" for people, so there is hope for this DC Universe with Ben Affleck directing his own movies, I think we'll continue to get quality solo batman movies, I certainly hope so. Marvel fanboy or not, DC still hasn't come close to Marvel, I have no doubt Civil War will wipe the floor with this movie.

It's so strange. I was expecting to dislike this movie based on the reviews and the guys at Collider, JeremyJahns, ChrisStuckman, and I didn't particularly enjoy Man of Steel. But I loved BVS. It has its problems, overall however I thought it was a flawed masterpiece

I absolutely LOVED this movie. As a Marvel fan, I'm a little annoyed that I enjoyed it more than most of the marvel movies... To be honest, I never followed the batman or superman comics, so I didn't know what most dc geeks know, and therefore couldn't be disappointed.

I wanted to love this movie so bad but every time there was an opportunity for greatness and fun, Zack Snyder was like "NOPE!!! you can't have fun bitch!!". Please save the Justice league and drop him.

Yes there were multiple plots, but they all connected perfectly well. Watch the movie again and pay attention how everyone's plot is tied to the rest, either directly or indirectly. There is plenty of connective tissue. In fact, read a comic book and understand the genre as a whole. A comedy is supposed to be funny, a drama is supposed to be emotional, a mystery is supposed to be riveting, etc. etc. and a comic book story often times has multiple plots interwoven into a bigger story. Understand the genre first. It's like complaining Romeo and Juliet talked like adult poets with a thesaurus when they were just kids. Certain genres have certain tropes and understandings with the audience that you have to accept first before you enjoy them. Suspend your disbelief. Like a little mask or a different hair style isn't going to hide your identity, but you don't seriously complain about it in a comic book universe. It's comic book logic. It's not our world. The movie was awesome.

comic book logic shouldn't be in the movieverse. there is a reason Marvel dumbs down and has to lot's of exposition and change up characters because something's that work in comics don't work on film. they needed a proper sequel, they needed a much talented director, and they need to take their time.

How dare your prefer vanilla when clearly chocolate has more flavor!! Yeah, I don't even know why I'm defending the movie so much. I guess I want this version of the universe to continue on and not be abandoned, which I'm sure it will, and the criticism hopefully will help the future movies, because no one should rest on the laurels and stop striving for an unreachable perfection. Maybe the split in opinions this movie is garnering is the best thing for the franchise. Maybe the love and hate will spur it on to greater heights. The world is wacky, reality is weird, people are people and what a ride it is.

+Thurgor Supreme Stuckmann is really bias towards his fanboyism, when he loves/hates something (director, actor, etc) he doesn't analyze it in a good way, hence his reviews of any M. Night Shyamalan movie, I just don't trust him when it comes to Marvel or DC movies

Haters gonna hate but I LOVED THIS MOVIE. Yes, it's a bit messy and might feel rushed, I agree with the aforementioned 5 movies in 1 part but I don't get why talking about imaginary prequel movies and how it would have been better. There were no other pre-movies. DC and Snyder took a brave step and instead of releasing half a dozen standalone movies (like Marvel) they did it at the second round and let their heroes clash (Iron Man 1,2,3, Thor 1,2, Avengers 1,2 => Civil War). Im not saying it worked perfectly, not at all but let's take a minute and appreciate the fact that we didn't get totally useless and redundant movies like Iron Man 2,3, Thor 2, Avengers 2 just to finally see our heroes fight with each other. And for me, this is something to admire and appreciate. Besides, the way Snyder linked BvS to MoS in the beginning, it was freaking genius just like the dark, gritty tone of the movie without annoying one liners. Furthermore, Affleck's Batman was pure awesomeness (brutal, big, ruthless), made all the previous ones look like funny Barbie dolls. The way he "defeated" Superman in the movie was totally mind blowing and I had goosebumps. This is a Batman that criminals will fear for sure. Gal Gadot was promising and would like to see more of her, Henry Cavill was solid and liked more than in MoS. For me Eisenberg was the weakest link , even though in the beginning he was quite ok. Oh, and of course Jeremy Irons was cool AF as Alfred. All in all, it is a pretty solid movie, flawed, but definitely entertaining, with great fighting scenes, good characters, good acting and a very dark tone and atmosphere. And once again, you should watch it, even just for Affleck's freaking awesome Batman.

+Sam Bowmer - Well, I'm curious how director's cut turns out. You could blame it on Snyder, but he didn't write the script, and that is the worst part of this movie. Way too much stuff to put in one movie (same problem as Superman movie), and now it's all been cut out to meet some sensible running time, it feels disjointed. There are glympses of a good movie in there. It should have been more like Watchmen, which was dark and heavy, but it had it's lighthearted moments, and some glympses of joy.

I went into this film not watching all the trailers that preceded it. I only saw 2 trailers. 1 of the trailers pissed me off with the Doomsday reveal. This reveal needed to be primarily in the movie to stokeup the fanboy in me. Saying all that I did enjoy the film because I kept away from most of the publicity and trailers. I liked the film allot. I saw lots of other revealations and teases only in the movie. I did not know the stuff that was gonna happen that many other people did know will happen. That's down to not watching all these trailers.
