There's a scene in BvS where Clark goes on a mountain journey to find himself. There, he meets the phantom of his father. His dad tells him that he misses him. And Clark tells his father that he misses him too. Everything in the background is white, ice, bright and positive. In the next scene, we have Wayne, staring at the graves of his parents. In wayne manor. Alfred comes, trying to talk Bruce out of going to war with Superman. Citing, "its suicide". Bruce replies "I'm older than my father ever was". The background was demonic, dark, depressing, brooding & perfectly capturing the spirit of a man hell bent on doing something horrible and ready to sacrifice himself in the process. My point is, both the men, Clark and Wayne are missing their fathers in this scene. But the backgrounds depict their childhood and upbringing. Superman's beautiful upbringing with positive reinforcement. Being accepted everywhere, from the Kent's, when they found his spaceship in the farm to Lois, the daily planet and else where, percieved as a saviour. A God. Where as, the scene also depicts Wayne's childhood. Repeated negative reinforcement. Witnessing the death of his parents infront of his eyes. Seeing the reality of mankind. Their real face, day in and day out, in his reign, as a vigilante. Rejected everywhere. Percieved as a criminal, a "bat brand". A Demon. This really projects how Clark always sees the best in people. While Wayne always sees the worst in them. Wayne reeks of atmosphere. A fever dream. A vigilante. A spent man. A man who is aged than his father. A murderer. A lost man. Never had love. Spent his whole life for nothing. This version of Bruce made me shed a few tears. "They were hunters"

I love how tortured Bruce Wayne is: •The man loses his parents at a young age •His protege Robin was murdered by The Joker •Lost countless of employees who HE KNEW during General Zod's Metropolis attack from Man of Steel. When Superman showed first showed up, Bruce felt like the terrified child again. Bruce was afraid of Superman, judged him as a unstoppable murderous monster when the entire time it was Batman.

Snyder, next to Nolan, was the best thing that happened to DC on film. He had balls and creativity to reconstruct this decades old mythology and give it to us in a NEW form. It’s sad to think about where they’re heading now. Clark Kent bumping into doors, dropping the briefcase in front of Perry White and letting the papers fly everywhere. I was relieved when Snyder understood that these characters go beyond a specific set of circumstances. Too bad

This scene actually makes me tear up a little now that I look back on it. This is a moment that is rare in batman mythos where Batman openly admits that his actions aren't black and white and he may have hidden motives behind his heroics. A lot of heroes have theorised why Bruce is Batman and it is met with Batman being silent or denying it. But this is the first time in cinema where Batman's heroics have been a constant chase for control and power over events that stemmed from the powerlessness he felt as a kid watching his parents killed. Hell, his motives for trying to hunt and destroy Superman comes from another moment of powerlessness during the Zod attack. Bruce wants to make a mark. He lays it out bare when he stares and says "This is about the future of the world. This is my legacy."

And this happens again with lex creating doomsday as his own personal sword and truth representation of a god: all powerful and all evil.

Love how Bruce always wandered in a field towards his parent’s graves and Wayne Manor with no path in the first and second half of the movie but in the end he walks on a path to the light after he attended Clark’s funeral. Such symbolism of Batman’s redemption and reformation into the light to form the Justice League along with Superman in the Sun. #UsUnited

It's Ironic because after they no longer needed to Hunt, the Waynes made their living by helping people and helping the country. Building homes and transport (Railroads and Real Estate.) Thomas Wayne while chairman of Wayne Enterprises, was a medical doctor and a scientist. He put people first instead of his gains. But now that, his legacy got destroyed when a desperate criminal gunned them down, all that's left is to hunt again. Bruce wanted to apply all the legacies the Waynes he knew put together, by ridding the city of crime. Both the philanthropy he was raised to believe and the hunting they started from. That's what's Ironic about it. He set off to be a helper and became a hunter.

What’s also great about this scene being restored is that it dovetails with the previous scene (the music even overlaps) with Clark visiting his own father to reflect on things. Clark heard that doing good sometimes has a bad unintended effect and that he can find his inner strength through his loved one; Bruce thinks on his legacy and the fact that he’s now a man older than his father, whose death spurred him into action, and that his legacy is nothing but a constantly refreshed supply of criminals.
@O1OO1O1
@O1OO1O1 6 лет назад
Also shows the difference between the two. Clark had his father, so he's more roundly developed and has a fuller life. Bruce didn't, so while he grew, his growth wasn't the normal kind and his life reflects that. Clark talks to his father, even though he's dead. Bruce talks to the grave, "stuck" in that moment that drives him to this day.

Friendly reminder that Nolan's Batman was only active for a total of 3 years, at most. Snyder's Batman, on the other hand, has been at it for FAR longer. 20 years of fighting against organized crime, murderers, psychopaths, rapists, thieves, liars and worse? Losing Grayson before he could even become Nightwing? Realizing that Gotham is no better off than it was when he started? I, for one, don't blame Bruce for the kind of man he has become. Zack Snyder's Batman is one of the most fascinating versions of the character because of his fall from grace and the fact that he's so much older and experienced than most Batmen. He's certainly one of my favorites.

This is my favorite scene of Affleck's Batman... So, this is Batman mentally preparing himself for his first actual MURDER. I mean, so far he killed, because he was careless with the lifes of criminals ; because he didn't care if criminals die, because of his actions, but this is the first person that Bruce is going to hunt down and 100% intentionally murder. Alfred sees that Bruce is turning into a monster and that there's no way for him to stop him anymore. Something so terrifying, that Alfred is just left behind with the words: "So falls the house of Wayne.". This is probably one of my favorite Batman/Bruce Wayne moments ever. I mean, with just a few lines of dialogue, this scene manages to be so unbelievable haunting and horrific. To see my childhood hero so fallen in his morals and in his whole inner character just gives me goosebumps. Something that probably no other superhero movie can manage to in such a way...

Really like this jaded, disillusioned Bruce Wayne story arc. After fighting crime for many years, he realizes it has amounted to nothing. That’s why he sees taken down Superman (who he considers a planetary threat) as the only objective that would give value to his crusade. Discovering that Superman is actually a hero willing to sacrifice himself for earth, Bruce kind of gets inspired again, or reminded of the his initial nobility of crime-fighting. Thus, making him more like the conventional Batman we’ve come to known. The only problem is that the writers destroyed him in JL.

"This might be the only thing i do, "this is about the future of the world, my legacy", when you hear those lines, you could really sense that after over 20 years of fighting crime as Batman, Bruce Wayne was more than ready to die and make the ultimate sacrifice to stop Superman no matter what and the calmness in his voice combined with the quiet music playing really added so much weight to this scene. I've always loved older Bruce Wayne more as he is like a broken down battered soldier in an ongoing war who has seen so many things and lost so many people in his life to the point that he doesn't care what happens to himself anymore and Ben Affleck did an amazing job portraying that bitterness and anger beautifully.
