At only 14, Troy won first place at the 45th Annual National Baton Twirling Contest. He's now headed to Italy to represent the U.S. at the world championships.
Hi Troy. You are fantastic. You live your dreams just like Steve Harvey would tell you. Don't let anyone get in your way. Ignore comments that some people make. Baton Twirling is an art just like playing tennis or cheerleading. You are representing America in a competition that others wish they could do but you were born with this gift. God bless you always and keep up the good work that you do for others.
I'm 17 years old and I just got my first baton today and I'm gonna start teaching myself how to twirl a baton. I'm so excited and hopefully I can do it on the football field (with band director & guard instructor's approval)
Not to say this is for all bands but really the guard has no say in it since twirlers are seen as drum majors more than anything, but it might be different than the 3 I've spun at.
Kelly Nelson How dit it go? It's been a year ago and i'm curious about your progression bc i want to buy myself one too but i'm not sure if i'll be able to teach myself
That's awesome! I watched him compete at the NBTA Nationals and he did great! Such a well deserved honor of being on the show and being able to go to Italy! All the haters can back off !:)
Him: *Intro* Me: flash, two turn, sling, shoulder roll right hand catch, illusion pass under leg, flash, three turn, back scratch, thumb roll flip under arm, little joes, left hand one turn, bow with a whip, flash, toss illusion, cut away... Him: *Showing him tricks* Me: Horizontals, toss illusion... Him: *Outro* Me: Two turn blind catch, vertical finger twirls... I've done all of these, including a toss cartwheel... Where's my award? Not in sight. Also... He said he's in high school? I'm in Junior high. People just don't get enough credit where I'm from... Praying for the people who deserve a little bit of recognition. P.S. I'm the least educated of my group.
When I was little we figured out if you break the glue the end pieces can fly off. You can't believe how far they go or how much they hurt. Soon all the boys had their sisters batons and we all had lots of bruises.
God I've been typing so much stuff to hate on this kid, like his outfit lmao, and how his parents must hate him and stuff, but I'm trying not to have everybody hate me lmao
