The fight against the Voulgiers was definitely my favorite fight! SPOILERS Read after watching video: ↓ ↓ The Veteran Falxmen did indeed win every fight, however, they came close to losing on all fights VS two handed units (they won as they won majority of the rounds) But more importantly, they have the worst K/D ratio against one handed units out of all 2-handed units. This is probably why they are regarded as a bad unit as you look at the scoreboard and they tend to die a lot, especially against 1-handed units compared to your other 2-handed units.
The reason for the worst anti-1H performance was probably the Rhomphaia being too long, and it was probably just trying to break the shield with a wooden stick. 15-0 is very impressive though.
@@aurgasmic6739 I said that. But in the game, the polearm falx is called rhomphaia. Which is wrong. As I said it is a falx muralis. A siege defence weapon of the romans.
Lol that last battle was a nail-biter 🙂 Real glass cannons, these guys. Gonna try and bring a bunch of veteran falxmen to support Fians when the enemy infantry reach us (alternatively, run to front and tight formation for cavalry charges). With high medicine I should hope to handle their high death rates.
Fians are already strong shock troops, would be better to pair with cavalry (to protect against enemy cavalry or to flank the enemy infantry while they fight against your fains in melee) or paired with some shield (to protect them against arrows or to let the enemy infantry hit the shieldwall while the fians are flanking)
So Strat gaming did a vid on the best units 2 months ago and the T4 Falxman was actually better than the T5 Veteran Falxman. I'd be interested to see if that's still the case.
After I finish all the videos on all T5 infantry units ill move on to some unique units, the T4 falxman being one of them. I'm pretty sure they will fare better against one handed units with a better K/D ratio, but I doubt they will win against all T5 two handed units.
I have used the T4 since day 1 because they look cooler, but I dont know if they are better or worse than the T5. I would also like to see how good the Aserai tier 3 2h Axemen is. Those two troops are my favorite cheap shock troops, that I can easily mass produce.
hello, but I don’t know if it was intended like that, or it’s an accident, but you showed the total K / D of the voulgiers in the table, for me, of course, this was not a discovery, but you never know
Just another faction that the Aserai absolutely can't stand against. Check out DaPhamius for more testing as well, you'll see how bad the Aserai are all around lol. TaleWorld is so bad at balance, but what I love about this game is the ease of modding/editing units.
Bro seriously what's your problem with the Aserai, you're on literally every comment section trying to shit on the Aserai in every way possible. I'm guessing you're either a salty Vlandia fan or just got horrendously crushed by the Aserai on every battle with them. I am not an Aserai fan, so you can't shitroll my faction like you do with the Aserai.
I’m thinking you may also need to do a series with a bit thicker lines while being more condensed or compact. Falxman like room to fight…. What happens if you give them a lot less room in a shoulder to shoulder, nut to butt type fight. Idk if see different results.
Is there poor performance against 1 handed units a function of having not great armor or their weapon being longer than the other 2-handed units? I think that the only way to tell would be with XML tweaks. The ultimate 2 handed unit would likely have 2 weapons, a shorter 2 handed weapon for close quarters combat (good vs 1 handed opponents and in sieges) and a longer polearm (which the Falxman has).
i think it's mostly due to the fact that their rhomp is very long, so when a one handed unit, with a short weapon, needs to get closer to the falxman so they can hit them, while it's too close for the vet falxmen's rhomp to hit, especially overhead swings, so they need to step back a bit so they can hit their attacks. You can kinda see this in most of the fights, and it's more apparent when the fights end up more chaotic as there is more moving back and forth, like the units are all over the place.
@@Mr.Chicken Yeah that makes sense. I guess the best unit would have good armor, a long swinging polearm and a good 2 handed weapon (likely the Sturgian axe).
After I finish with this series I'll add in some other unique units like the t4 falxman, khan's guard and fian champion to see where they compare. I theorize that the t4 falxmen will have a better k/d ratio against one handed units, but a worse one against two-handed units. (when compared to the T5 vet falxman).
In sieges the vet falxman would be worse than e.g. the voulgier because of their longer weapons. In sieges you have narrow paths and doorframes when you enter a tower. The rhomphaia is to long and would hit the wall most of the time. On open fields they have an advantage because of their longer weapons they usually get the first hit. So it depends on the scenario.
