I try 3 different batteries out to assess the performance difference. There will be an endurance video to follow.

The cutting speed with 8 amps increased compared to 4 amps by 35.38%! Great results! Running time increased by 22.20% compared to 4 amps. And this does not take into account the fact that with a step of 3/8 the torque increases slightly and the cutting speed decreases, and at 0.325 the torque slightly decreases (4 Nm) and the speed increases. That is, with such results, in theory, a total of 45 feet (14 meters) of wood can be cut. impressive. There are certainly disadvantages, the first of which is weight. Second, several batteries are needed for long-term operation. Although the weight under such loads even helps sawing.the battery pays for itself by logging (you need several of them, of course, to work without interruption), milking private farms and sanding boards.,,💯💯💯

I wonder if the increased torque of the 3/8 is offset by the skip-tooth chain? It cuts pretty fast with that chain. I'll try some cuts with the 20" bar. Skip tooth and regular. Thanks for the tip on the 8Ah Battery 👍

@@reusefullThank you for implementing the idea of upgrading the saw with an increase in cutting length

@@reusefulla chain with skipping teeth and even a 3/8 pitch is more aggressive, I think due to the increased space between the teeth. We don't sell such chains.

Good morning. Very interesting battery test. Me with the Greenworks 80v I have 2 batteries of 4 and 5ah. The 5ah battery lasts much longer than the 4ah battery.🙂🙂🙂

That has been my experience also. Cuts stronger AND lasts longer. I will be doing an endurance test with these batteries as well.

@@reusefull I think the 4Ah battery is worthless, made in China. It only weighs 1.3kg while the 5Ah battery weighs 2.8kg. On the other hand, the chainsaw with the 5 ah weighs 8.3 kg, the equivalent of the thermal Stihl MS 391.

this definitely beats stihl's msa 300, and husqvarna has yet to come out with a 20" cordless pro saw. ego is coming out with a 20" saw in their new commercial line soon, and I don't expect anything from makita tbh. I'm really curious who else will be next to come out with something to rival the 82CS34? 🤔

I think by the time there's a suitable rival, the 82CS43 or the HOG saw or whatever they want to call it will be released. 👍

They really shouldn't ship that saw with the 4ah battery, it's just not up to reaching the full potential of the saw. I was disappointed with the battery performance but no way am I willing to pay another $300 for the 5ah pack that should have come with the saw. Hopefully at some point in the future prices will drop significantly or I can find one used.

I 100% agree. I bought the saw before it was kitted and paid the $329 extra because that was the recommended battery. Greenworks wound not return it after I used it. I went a few rounds with customer service and I have also emailed people inside the company to try and get the wrong battery situation addressed. No luck yet. It's really a shame, because the saw is amazing. But if you never have the correct battery, it's often frustrating.

@@reusefullI've been toying with the idea of building a backpack battery with a short cord that plugs into the saw, I can do it for a lot less than $300 and it would also keep the saw much lighter.
@reusefull
@reusefull 5 месяцев назад
@@JRP3 I have a fanny pack style battery holder (1 battery) and a backpack that will hold 2. I use it for the blower, but there is a dummy battery that makes it universal. I've never tried it for the chainsaw, but I'm sure it would reduce weight. It might be a bit front heavy though🤷‍♂️🤔

@@reusefull So my 4Ah battery just died, it's showing 50% but won't charge, flashes red, and the saw will only run a few seconds and then the red exclamation mark flashes. Can't contact Greenworks directly, their "info" email gets kicked back because I'm not on their allowed list or something, guess I have to go through a dealer even though I bought it directly from Greenworks. I contacted the closest dealer, about 45 minutes away, but haven't heard back yet. I wonder if they are getting a lot of warranty claims on the 4Ah battery since it's so undersized, if so maybe they'll figure out they need to ship the larger pack with the saw.
@reusefull

@JRP3 I call them. I think you have to say that you're a dealer, or select that option in the automated que to get to a human. They'll probably still try to get you to bring the battery to a dealer because they either don't trust consumers or don't believe they have the ability to troubleshoot correctly.

How huge is the balance change with the 8Ah. It looks like a lot of weight far away of the center, both to the back and to the top.

It's true, and it's pretty heavy, but gripping the saw between the wrap handle and the rear handle, it didn't bother me too much.

Hey what sprocket chain an bar are you using?
@reusefull
@reusefull 5 месяцев назад
I am using the 3/8 sprocket. (Part #339012028A) along with an Oregon 24" guide bar. I believe it's either the A095 or K095 tailstock. I had to grind a little to get the bar to oil properly (.045" disk just squeezes in the .050 space). I think I posted a video on it.
