Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-terminated power station, situated on the south bank of the Waterway Thames, in Nine Elms, Battersea, in the London Precinct of Wandsworth. It was worked by the London Power Organization (LPC) to the plan of Leonard Pearce, Designer in Boss to the LPC, and CS Allott and Child Architects. The engineers were J. Theo Halliday and Giles Gilbert Scott. The station is one of the world's biggest block structures and eminent for its unique, Workmanship Deco inside fittings and stylistic layout.
The structure contains two power stations, worked in two phases, in a solitary structure. Battersea A Power Station was worked somewhere in the range of 1929 and 1935 and Battersea B Power Station, to its east, somewhere in the range of 1937 and 1941, when development was stopped attributable to the demolishing impacts of WWII. The structure was finished in 1955. " Battersea B" was worked to a plan almost indistinguishable from that of "Battersea A", making the notable four-smokestack structure.
"Battersea A" was decommissioned in 1975. In 1980 the entire design was given Grade II recorded status; " Battersea B" shut three years after the fact. In 2007 its recorded status was moved up to Grade II*. The structure stayed void until 2014, during which time it fell into close to destroy. Different plans were utilized the structure, however none were effective.
In 2012, directors Ernst and Youthful went into a concurrence with Malaysia's S P Setia and Sime Darby to foster the site to incorporate private, bars, eateries, office space (involved by Apple and others), shops and diversion spaces. The plans were endorsed and redevelopment initiated a couple of years after the fact. The primary Power Station building was opened to the general population in October 2022.
Starting around 2023, the structure and the generally 42-section of land (17 ha) site improvement is claimed by a consortium of Malaysian financial backers.
