I changed the rectifier plate in my old Snap-on battery charger model ya16-7 b and now it works I didn't know what the part name was or what to fix until I watch this video thanks very helpful video
I have a Lincoln charger and while charging a car battery the leads touched each other and arc'd . Now doesn't work but has sound so power is coming in..when I tried to hook up to another car battery the positive cable sparked when I attached it. This happened when the charger had not been plugged in yet. Any help appreciated.
Hello Nice video I’m looking at a used 6006 fleet charger. What’s a good price to pay. It looks in good condition. I will test prior to making an offer. Thank you
my forklift charger is 20 yrs old working good, getting a new forklift w new battery, should I change the charger also, to protect my investment, does the charger technology as evolved since to charge a 36V 750ah battery?
I picked up an ESS6008MSK for almost nothing, and it charges on all 3 settings but i think at a lower amperage than intended. shows from 5-15 amps depending on which setting its on. in the crank boost setting the amperage never increases, stays around 20 amps or so. can the rectifier partially fail?
I HAVE A CHARGER 6/12 VOL BATETERY STARTE SOLAR 360 MODEL 141-225 THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT SMELLS ON THE PARTS LIKE WHICH YOU ARE CHANGING AS YOU CALL ARE THEY THAT CONNECT WITH THE TRANSFORMER THANK YOU.
Would like to ask this expert if there is a rectifier kit with more capacity than the 610110 that I can use on my Associated 6001A?. Thanks What about the 610364?
Hello i was wandering if you know how to repair a forklift 48 volt battery charger i accidentally hooked it up to 480 volt, 3ph power but the charger was wired for 240 volt 3ph so when i turned the power on after about 1 min. the charger made a loud explosion sound and it smelled like burned but the breaker didn't go off is it fixable would we need to check rectifier or replace the transformer control starter? any advice would be appreciated..
Trying to get my battery charger working mine is a Chicago electric the big 200 aunt rose around kind what it's doing is it has continuity even when it's unplugged from the wall
Thanks For the Video, Very Helpfull My Old Snap-on charger has the same test results but with no available parts. I took the Rectifier apart but I don't see anything "burnt". Could you be very specific on what exactly is burnt. All of the diodes are loose and testing each one individually tests good.
Snap on chargers are made by Associated. I am almost sure you will find the part with them. The people that made this video also sell associated charger parts. check with them.
drj Westfield Wisconsin where can I buy a new rectifier kit for a chacago electric 100/200amp battery charger #46944. Also can you put a larger rectifier in so that it could handle the load or am I just stupid , don't know anything about electronics.someone said it needs a rectifier kit where can I get the kit and for how much.thank you for your help David Jones. Great video... My Snap on charger model YA167B is working but the output voltage (on the clamps) is only 10.5 VDC, is this a rectifier plate issue as well? Thanks
friend I have a battery charger that has damaged the rectifier diodes and the transformer booted me a voltage of 24 volts I could make an adactation with another type of rectifier, because it is 250 amp if I adapt several rectifiers would do it in parallel to get at 250 amp thanks.
Hi Pete, Awesome, you helped find the problem.I have a snap-on charger with bad rectifier plate..Snap- on says they don't sell the replacement part.Where can I get the plate from? Thankyou.
Looks like a great video. I’d love to give it a thumbs up. But after reading the comments I see he does not reply to the videos. Can’t give a thumbs up
So the main transformer on this is Aluminum, not Copper? Curious also if the rectifiers on the US20 model are similar and how much they cost to replace?
I'm debating which to purchase right now. It doesn't look like the US20 has the same heavy duty rectifier or the vacuum sealed transformer of the higher end models. But right now it's 180 bucks vs the next model up being around 450. Having trouble deciding.
@@ClaytheBMXer Apparently @automaticrepair doesn't answer questions... I lost confidence in the associated chargers after seeing this. Got myself an old used Schumacher dirt cheap, did some minor repairs and it works like a champ.
@@Jerseyhighlander I've actually tried to buy several used chargers now, but either been ghosted or the seller refused to let me see it functioning first. Our shop has a couple of older wheeled Schumachers. I was originally going to buy one of the same models, but then found they didn't have that model and nothing manual. No luck finding used manual mode Schumacher chargers around me for a reasonable price. Ended up with a small DSR "pro" series that is utterly useless. May not reflect on older models, but it's put a sour taste in my mouth. I haven't looked so far, but are parts available for the older Schumachers? Might end having to repair ours at the shop, both are finicky. One charges at 18V on 55A mode, so we only use it on 20A mode (automatic never ever worked). I tried to buy an old Associated 6010 (no suffix), and when I emailed associated they actually found me the old diagram and parts listings and I verified I could get replacements.
Im nervous to work on my charger when I saw there was a Transformer inside.. Are there parts inside the charger that we shouldnt touch with our hands to avoid getting shocked to death? My charger stopped working.. I heard a pop and smelled something burning. I opened it up and saw there are four wires running to each terminal on the rectifier plate. noticed three of the four wires were broken off their connectors to the terminal.. im guessing its the positive terminal.
Christopher Jones it’s always the capacitors that you don’t want to touch..you have to short them to discharge them with a screw driver or something ..even when it’s unplugged the capacitors could shock you
I don't want to buy a whole rectifier plate assembly, couldn't anyway as parts for my TOP DOG model 750 are not available. Just replacing all the button diodes is much cheaper. My charger is an older model that does not have the fusible links. Diodes are mounted directly on an aluminum plate in two lines of 6 diodes per line. I took photos of the diodes showing direction of polarity for each line but of course the hard drive on my laptop died and I lost the photos so need help determining the diode polarity for each line. I can send photos of the outside and inside of the charger if I knew where to send them.
What a terrible design, they should have fuses that burn out before the diodes cook, and I don't mean the fuse plates on the diodes, that once the first one burns out it places 25% more load on the rest then when the second one burns out it puts 50% more load on the rest.
Very flimsy construction thease diode plates! Y would have modyfied it whith bigger single bly diodes, the also use in mig welders, there mutch more rugged , and mutch more amps resistand.
where do you find this diodes yo mention here. My battery charger uses the 610100 diode plate replaced in this video. I understand they are about 500 amps plates. Thanks for your answer.
any good electronic store , or just brouse internet, dont know how it is in the states, but here in holland we can order for instance at Conrad, or a special electronic parts site.these are diodes with a mounting thread on it, just dril a hole , and put a nut on it. its mutch more rugged, and they last forever.
MrBugsier5 Thanks a lot for answering. This plate has 10- 25 amps diodes,I will look for diodes of more than 50 amps capacity at 60 volts AC. Hope I can find them.
hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out how to recondition batteries try Knewreck Rapid Renew Guide (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend got great results with it.
Michael it’s not a cheap design go look at a Schmacher battery charger most have only 2 diodes,as you can see associated battery chargers use a lot more !
*interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out how to recondition used car batteries try Panlarko Recondition Planner ( **lovy.biz/zrsy** ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my m8 got great results with it.*
