Great video. My thoughts are always the same. I own the PRO GO and i own pioneer gear as well. I have the same grief as you when you want to transition between ENGINE OS and USB. It was a deal breaker for me when the prime4 came out and hence i went with the XZ which i still own . A thing you fail to mention was 1.The PRO GO has 8 hot cue support .(double press) 2. The PRO GO has a sampler mode with sampler volume (underated feature) but can be used for your DJ drops 3. Ability to Jump in between different streaming platforms . You can have beatport playing on one deck and beatsource playing on the next. The Denon Go is nifty especially traveling and on the Go . The PRO GO is actually too large to fit in a bagpack . I love the speakers on there because you can go and jam out in a park or outdoors no need to carry extra stuff. Omnis seems smaller than the PRO GO and thats a plus because if you can take it in a bagpack you can practice with some headphones on the go as well. I havent used or touched the Omnis Duo Yet. But i feel you glanced over the day mode not covering the waveforms. It a big deal especially playing outside (IMO). I love the design of the Omnis. Clean aesthetic is always a plus for me and in white whole look amazing.(12inchskinz) Once the Omnis Duo gets streaming i feel the bluetooth feature would make it less relevant and even a hard pick for alot of people. The Omnis is a great entry level controller but its not for me at that price even for a backup controller. The price will be the biggest hinderance for alot of established DJs and Old school Dj . And for back up as well. The REV5 Is seeming like a great controller after all. I have owned the whole of the Denon SC5000 and X1800 series and whole of the pioneer range as well over the years . Just my two cents .
The Omnis looks like a designer piece much like it's larger Opus-Quad cousin. I see where Alpha-Theta is going with their new line of products. That Indigo really stands out.
I have pro go also. Love it, ALTHOUGH after less than a year my cross fader is shot, one play/pause button is not always responsive and there is no ability to make playlists from a folder on usb or sd card without a computer....calling it standalone is an overstatements for this solo reason. Numark was notified about the shortcommings, but not sure if they will do anyuthing about that. Also inability yo edit the track names and line them up depending on energy levels or key (only by yearm bpm, artist name etc - basically stuff no real dj will use in real life situation)....I have told them about this shortcommings...let's see if they listen to custommers. For now my Numark is going back to Amazon for a refund.
I'll start by saying that I don't understand the usefulness of the battery on a console, given that we would also have to have battery-powered speakers, but this point is no longer convenient. but as for the omnis duo, €500 more, and it doesn't even have streaming services, the main requirement to be considered portable, it has Wi-Fi but you can't use it
Terry out here doing the lords work! Great review of these 3 units! I own the Prime Go, and based on my use case I will stick with it. Love the streaming feature on the prime go, i accidentally discovered at a gig and was able to connect to my Dropbox folder. I haven’t had an issue with needing to adjust the eqs on the mics, my higher end sennheiser hand held sounds absolutely fantastic on the Prime Go. All of the cons you mention, are I mostly agree with. But the ability to roll up to the gig and rock a party completely wireless for 4 hours is a plus! Loved the review man, you covered a lot on these 3 units.
The Mixstream Pro Go is the best out of all of these. I'm not just saying that because I own it. I own it because that's a fact. It has the best jogs, it does NOT feel cheap by any stretch. It has the Amazon chop, and the speakers are loud and clear enough that you could absolutely provide the music for a day at the pool or beach with no problem. Sure you're not going to rock a club or bar with the speakers, but its meant like a situation you'd have a boombox in, except now you can DJ and control the music flow...The Mixstream unit is amazing and I love mine...
Glad you pointed that out, because it is an option that is often left out. There are great compact mixers which won't make a dent in the pocket and the whole package will still be very lightweight.
Honestly the speakers in which everyone disliked in the go pro is the selling point for me. Since I can't go full blast in my apartment I can get tunes off with just turning it on.
I wanna like the on omnouse but AT I believe design the nonstandard gear with no DJ input effects only on the screen and price are my only issues if it gets to 1199 I’d be more likely to buy
Great job! I’m a full time wedding/corporate DJ and use Denon Go exclusively. Yes I wish the mics had eq but it’s not a huge deal and I need 2 mic inputs. Tidal is fantastic when the need arises. The aux input is super handy. With a Pro X case, setup and teardown is fast and the thing packs up small.
I hear ya. I own a the Prime Go as well, and use it live four to five nights a week for 5 months straight. Play/Cue buttons started losing functionality, cross-faders and up-faders became faulty, would freeze up if fog or haze filled up the room, I experienced many major issues to the point where I had to buy a second one mid summer. I love the Prime Go, but its certainly not built to perform night in and night out. In comparison, I was previously rocking the original Pioneer DDJ-SX and never once experienced these type of issues.
I was laughing at Mixstream Pro at first because of the speakers; but now I'm grateful I've got it. The only wrong thing about it, is the name as it says Numark not Pioneer. The Pioneer is great but too expensive whole the Denon is perfect for travelling.
Cool review. I Dj for fun and free as a hobbie in my basement or pool parties. Bought a new in box mixstream pro plus from a junky for $40. Trying to figure out best way to get music to it. Was rockin a newb controller (pioneer DDj something with serato and an old laptop) How do I get my serato tunes off old comp? transfer to new comp via usb, then use engine os to create thumb drive? Drop music from old pc to Dropbox? Start over with a streaming service? WTH is stems
A guest spilled a whole small bottle of Coca-Cola on my Denon Prime Go and Go survived it. Only after a year I started to have problems with the master knob and one of the faders. Cleaning fixed the issue.
Most importan advantage of the DENON is, that it is compact! Its footprint is exactly like a DIN A3 sheet of paper. Considering HOW MANY user-requested Feature Updates were updated since the DENON DJ Prime GO came out, the price is more than worth the money. DENON added most important features and upgrades like meter volume for chan 1 and 2 (before it was only master volume meter). And they added a Sampler Feature to play one shot samples or full tracks from the sampler pads!!! I bought mine very late after it came out (end of 2023), and even till now (march 2024) there were another 2 firmware updates adding very useful new features and touchscreeen layout improvements that speed up your workflow!!! =DDD
you have many errors in your video. the prime go does not have 2 usb ports. it has a SD card and one usb port.. the Numark does have 8 hot cues if you change layers not 4. the processor in the numark is faster than the prime go (it can decode amazon music the prime go cant).
Hi nice review , I want to go into mixing a bit in mine circus show so not looking to use pc and something like that to Carrie around which one you recommend is best for a zero knowledge person like me. Regards from croatia
Thanks for this comparison. By owning the Denon Prime Go, I agree with all your comments. Do you think stems will come to the Omnis Duo perhaps in computer mode since the pads right now are only hot cues? Also very odd that it’s a Rekordbox controller but no performance pads. With Serato integration in the future, the Omnis Duo seems like a possible future grab.
I would have gone with the AT, but I have had the XZ, Prime 4, DDJ800 (loved that MF) and the one that is still there (have other ones that replaced those ones) is the P-GO, and I don't see it going anywhere soon. Is not the best stuff, but it sure works wonders for me. That with the Thump Go and the U-3.... Almost perfect.
My first mixer back in like 92’ was a purple Numark mixer. To this day I wish I didn’t sell it. I’ve had several numark pieces of gear and never ever been let down. Owned the denon prime 4. Not a fan. Never again. Pioneer is great but they just over charge for the name. Really don’t care what brand something is at my age. Really considering the numark for just playing around at home with zero hassle and also for streaming on twitch.
Joe Bunn said the Omnis Dup looks like a toy amongst many other DJs. To each their own but I simply don’t agree I thought the indigo looks quite nice and it feels good
I own the pro go, and I love it. Especially the updated firmware drops. (Waiting on that Bluetooth update!) I’ve never been a heavy EFX user, maybe just echo and filter. Also with the latest update the fader activated echo out is a great touch! We all know times are tough and a dollar doesn’t buy what it used to, so with that I’ll stick with the pro go. Feels cheap?? Yeah… gets the job done?? Absolutely. Great video! Thanks for the upload! 🙌🏼
Patiently hoping the Prime Go gets updated to a similar layout and job wheel size as the other 2. The Alpha Theta is perfect, I just want the Denon build and engine software.
Great video looking for something to use on daily commute and when stuck at work also wondering if you can use LC 6000's on these as of yet and have you heard if they're going to add that feature
Great review. The switching back from Engine to Standalone on Denon units is my biggest pet peeve. They had that capability of switching on the fly on the Denon MCX8000. If they could fix that on a future hardware release I would instantly buy it. Listen up Denon. As far as Mic Eq Im ok with Denon Prime Go because I have the capability on my DSP on speakers to EQ.
I would like to know, is it possible to play a track on deck 1 and while the track is playing, record via Bluetooth, or is the deck blocked while recording Bluetooth on the omnis duo?
Appreciate this video but the 1 thing that turns me off with them all is, none of the crossfaders are “end user replaceable”!! It’s 2024 for crying out loud!! Why can’t they just make this standard?? I have had the MixStream for a year and a half now and the crossfader is completely dead now. Bleed on both sides. So as it stands now it is a $800 paperweight 🤦🏾♂️
Totally agree on the crossfader, I have the Mixstream Pro which I love but even when brand new the faders are simply quite bad, and would also have loved to replace them, which sucks that it ain't possible. However, I want to throw out a tip which saved me once I realized it - when fader started bleeding and thought it was game over, I bought a DeoxIT Fader F5 lubricant, and it completely solved the bleeding, both on my Mixstream Pro and my Reloop Beatpad 2. Might be worth a shot. They are as good as new now.
@@donaldsmyth727 sorry, I have no clue - I bought it from a local retailer in Sweden. But it is relatively common in the music industry I think, because if I remember correctly it is used for other studio equipment as well, anything related to faders things like that
Great video dude. Although you're gonna have to redo this video though when (if) Denon release the Prime Go 2. The first one was so good that even adter 3-4 years old, its still comparable to competitors new releases. Engine OS has evolved so much and is no longer a toy. Some nice refinements i think would be: USBC power delivery charging (hate the brick on mine) optimised fader layout, tiltable screen, optional (attachable) booth speaker... As long as they dont increase the size too much.
I bought both the Mixstream Pro Go and the Pro+ (because sometimes I fly to DJ gigs and I want a controller without built-in battery in my suitcase). They're my favourite portable controllers by far. At home and at larger gigs, I use Technics SL1210 Mk IIs, or CDJs.
Great rundown. I'm sticking with my OG Mixstream for now but more competition in the all in one space is great. Hopefully lights a fire under InMusic and gets us some new releases soon (like a Prime Go 2.0).
I own the denon prime go and a few months ago I was able to stream Beatsource and tidal at the same time, do you think this could be done on the new model pioneer unit?
Great work as always! I like that my Prime GO needs a long screen press before it launches, it ensures that it doesn't get switched on by accident and so potentially saves the battery. Could be a nightmare taking it out my bag and the battery was dead
Boomer thinking. People are strange. They want everything high tech packed on their phones but when it comes to other devices. They want it cheap. Engineers have to be paid too.
DPGo, out the box, is an absolute weapon of a mobile kit. Unfortunately the build quality is subpar. Gigging 5+ nights a week for 6 months straight….the build quality is absolutely junk. On my 3rd DPGo within the last year 😢
Thinking about switching my Denon Prime Go for the Mixstream Pro Go, solely because I've started using Serato. But is the sound quality much worse than the Prime Go? Planning to use the kit at small bars.
Buy a XDJ-RR with a 65W power delivery battery and a PD to DC 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, 20 V Adaptor with all the plug adaptors coming with, very useful ! With my Soundboks I can mix anywhere
I rock my Go and I prefer gear that's built to last. Prime Go ain't built for scratchers so yeah i can see the annoyance with the jogs, but if you don't scratch (much), I think that guy is really gonna work for you
Good review, thanks for making this. I'm watching this after the purchase of a Mixstream Pro (not Go) and was reassured hearing what I did in the comparisons. Feel like I definitely made the right choice now, no more wondering. Also, slight "correction" the Mixstream does have 8 dedicated cue pads, as do the rest of the pad modes. You can toggle between 1-4 and 5-8 by pressing the cue button twice.
If and when Denon/Numark decide to activate Bluetooth I still don't it'll amount to much. The AKAI standalones which allegedly have the same chip sets have Bluetooth activated on those devices and all it's capable of doing is connecting an external keyboard/mouse. Will they do more with it? That remains to be seen.
Great review Terry! I think so Denon units are much better units than Pioneer's [because of components]. Denon have better DAC's [AK with dynamics 110dB vs BurrBrown 102dB we can find in RX3]. CPU are better too in Denon - Rockchip comes from 2017, XR3 and other ones from family xdj have CPU MCIMX6Q6AVT10AD from....2012. In my home studio I got PrimeGO. SC Live 4 and RX3. Prime Go have one more serieous lack /besides mic EQ/ - there is no peak led for every LINE /even just one LED like in mic input!/ we dont know when we have internally distorted signal. Because of this is recommended to keep GAIN knob no more than 11 o'clock.. Regards from Poland
8:48 OBJECTION : You have 8 cue points, saved loops, auto loops and rolls on the Mixstream Pro Go, all having a second bank on all the Mixstream Pro range. Unlike the Prime Go's "Bank" button, you simply press the button again to access the second bank, represented by the button of the feature blinking.
Gone of the days of the old Cleveland Terry. Boy to see you try an explain the Omnis Duo controller, it hurts because people like myself respect you view points for years. I want you to go back to your sx2 or 3 video How you didn't like how they came out with the 1000 and what pioneer did with the sx3. and you spoke about it. I guess big business got to you too. Your not the only one Nick too if you go to the streets nobody is buying what your saying. those NDA really do a number on people. But Im still a fan
I'm leaning towards the Mixstream Pro (non battery) version, myself. Lack of a battery isn't a big deal as I'm something of a homebody, so I'm not far away from a plug :) Though if I did want to go portable, I have an inverter that runs on the batteries I use for my power tools; I use it with my MPC One+ when I do get the urge to cut the cord. :)
All3 trash.U see many older models for new prices. They all depreciate.and these will too.Wait a 2 yrs or so and u get one for cheepLots in the market for new price.they dont sell
I had the Mixstream Pro 2022. Sold it recently after just 1 year and a half of service. Cross Fader bleed was the reason it had to go. Other than that. I really enjoyed having that unit. Still holding out on my next controller purchase till Rane or Denon release something new this year. Ominus is not the answer because of the price lack of fx paddles and streaming services. Wigity Wigity Wigity Wack!
Great comparison. I still would choose the cheapest out of all of them. The Numark has the best bang for your buck. It has everything I need. Not rocking with those tiny jogwheels on the Denon. And the Omnis is just not attractive, barely has any lightning to it besides the screen. You can never go wrong with paddle fx at the cheapest Numark got it right 👌🏼💯
I played Denon recently, build quality is outstanding. However, it was too small for me and horizontal knobs were creating constant problems as I had to check if I am using the correct knob all the time. Very unintuitive and I hated it at the end. SO great device but too compact and to weirdly designed for streamlined use by somebody who is not used to it. So sharing is almost impossible.
I want to start with DJing on birthdays, Weddings and so on. For me the Omnis Duo seems the Perfect one to start? Espacially the Bluetooth Feature. In a Small room it would definetley be okay to use 2 big Soundboks devices with the omnis duo… But the Price is high! Should I go with another standalone? I don’t want to take my Laptop With me. I want a standalone :)
In 2024 DJing for private events, The Mixstream Pro Go with a hotspot from my phone and Beatsource gives me the absolute freedom and confidence to play and have the tunes. I still bring my hard drive. Yes the mic option the Mixstream Pro Go is not the best, but I route that issue with my Numark Scratch.
I enjoyed owning the first gen Numark mixstream pro but tbh the sound quality from those xlrs wasn’t too good. I know its an entry level device so its great for what it is but its a point that not too many speak on. The other 2 will have a better dac for sure.
On the mixstream go can actually a bank to use with the 8 pad modes and also it works as a speaker if u were to connect a second controller …… I use the speakers with my Rane ones in my room
@@jrv8709 if you are using serato you jus run a usb from the mixstream to your cpu and then also connect whatever controller you’re using to the same cpu then u can use the speakers on the mixstream and some of the effects still works from the mixstream
I think the Onmi's price is high for the compromises that were made. No pad mode, and no xf paddles for a controller that is squarely in the pro gear price range? For the asking price, no compromises should have been made.
2:30 wasnt there a more expensive versión of the Numark with 4 pads? I think was with four channels as well i think was an all in one controller but i'm not sure if it was with battery or not i think Thats the better pick.
