I reccomend TIGHTENING battery terminals with a ratchet or wrench. Very small bolts are easy to ring off or strip. Slso make sure terminals sit completely flat on posts, a little ww40 goes along way with old rusty bolts btw. Other than that ok video.

I have a 2019 honda crv I bought new in July of 2019. I am now on my 3rd new battery. The service writer at a local dealership in formed me that the battery does not start charging until you exceed 20 miles per hour. Where I live the speed limit is 18 mph. We just drive local ( we r retired ) so it appears that we don't go fast enough long enough to keep the battery charged. I purchased a trickle charger I use once a week and it's working out good.

If you continue to have the issue, I would recommend not keeping your lights on “automatic”, and instead turning them on and off manually when needed. The automatic lights that stay on after the car is turned off have the possibility to drain the battery

That service writer was either pulling your leg, dumb, or flat out lying. If you have a multimeter you can measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the car turned off and with it idling. With the car off, the battery voltage should be around 12 to 12.5 VDC and with the engine idling, the alternator should raise that voltage to about 14.5 VDC which charges the battery. If you don't have a multimeter, you can buy an inexpensive one on Amazon for around $10 to $15 and then, if you don't know how to use one, just lookup "how to measure battery voltage with a multimeter" on RU-vid and I'm sure you'll find lots of videos (and it's very simple to do). FYI, just to be sure that Honda didn't slip some weird software that prevents charging at low vehicle speed or low motor rpm, I verified that the alternator puts 14.5 VDC across the battery terminals on my Mother's 2020 CRV EX-L with the engine idling.

@kirkjohnson6638 I live in Florida and have a friend that lives in Illinois. He said that the dealer there told him the same thing. Per your instructions I will check this out with a meter and let you know. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Hi - Will you lose the presets when changing the battery that way? is there any way to prevent those dashboard lights from happening (like a backup battery) and not lose any of the presets so that the car need no recalibrating? Please show us if there is. Thanks
@str8oil
@str8oil 2 месяца назад
You will lose the presets unless you have what’s called a “battery saver”
