Thanks for this one. I've saved it in my YT 'library.' I know that someday, either from use or too-long storage, my backup machine (Nox 600) will eventually need a new battery. 😃

I was shocked how easy it was after hearing for years that it shouldn’t be attempted. Thank you for watching!

Good demo! Tks! That was not air pressure being released. It was the speaker cone popping. I left a note on Brass Medics battery demo. Consider using a thin fishing line placed between the o-ring and housing to normalize the pressure. Sand the tip of the line so there are no sharp edges. I suggested using a lubricant on the o-rings which Minelab doesn't recommend. I think this is because dirt may stick to it.

That’s interesting about the speaker cone. It sure seemed like air passing by the o rings. I’m not a fan of applying a lubricant unless the o rings aren’t going in well. Like you mentioned, there is a possibility of getting dirt stuck to it. I also build cars, and there are some lubricants that can swell or weaken a rubber seal. I’m not sure if the material utilized by Minelab, so I figured I’d go in without anything to make sure I don’t compromise anything. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching !

@@GreggsTreasures I mention the correct type of grease to use in Brass Medics video. You probably did feel air pass the o-rings and the speaker popping. Another potential issue with the grease if one is not careful, is if a conductive mineral got stuck in it and then it somehow got onto the battery terminals. Another idea, maybe only grease the o-ring that is deepest in the battery well. A secondary backup to water ingress. I also don't like the hard plastic seal for the speaker port on the Manticore. I'm considering adding a silicone washer if there is enough thread length.

Great video! I got about 3 years on mine, I'm definitely starting to have some issues connecting the charger, takes a few minutes sometimes, other times gets it right away... any thoughts??

I take a q tip to the connections every month or so with rubbing alcohol. That should get the connection to be solid at hook up.

I have a question Gregg, my battery indicator light keeps blinking even though it is fully charged. Any ideas ? Thanks . Gregg , Boise Id.

That’s the start of the failure I believe. Mine would never go solid for about a two month period before the final failure. It would show full, but wouldn’t last as long

I was looking to buy a new Unit and I was looking 800. I do not like the rechargeable battery because I like to go camping and I do not have a way to charge it up. I like to put batteries that way I will not run out of a charge when you were camping I have no electricity so that’s what turned me off of this machine.

Makes sense. The Vanquish takes AA’s, which might be good in your situation. I love my Vanquish

@@GreggsTreasures Yes, that’s why I’m not getting that machine Unit because I do not have no way to charge it when I’m out camping
