Funny story the Kirishima should have been sunk earlier in the war, but due to the faulty type 14 US torpedo Red Ramage (sub commander)was unable to sink it. USS Saratoga was in the Pacific BUT was helping the US Army. USS Ranger was in the Atlantic. I Believe that was only other carriers left in the US Navy. It wasn't until what mid 43 USS Essex Class was commissioned.

Can I just say, I am still very livid that the big E was not preserved as a museum ship. She at one point was the only carrier we had in the pacific, with all others damaged or not finished being built only for a few months but still. And yet they didn't preserve her. They preserved other ships, even ones that didn't do much, but the most iconic and special ship of the pacific? Nah lets scrap it because we can. It is such an insult to what it and its crew did.

Every american ship has radar. Thats how they fked up. During battles japanese eho didnt have them would have a few minutes of warning to get ready while americans had if i remember 20+ mins or hours?
